I will say that cranberry juice is good for some things. After surgery, while my insides were all finding new homes, I developed a mild UTI. Rather than go back to the doctor, pay another $150 office visit and get the news, I started drinking cranberry/blueberry juice and water three times a day. I relieved the symptoms in…

It's hard because life interferes. A parent dies, a job is lost, stress is abundant, but even joyful events like births and weddings can lead one off the path. I've been trying to lose weight for thirty years. At one time I lost 50 lbs after a doctor put me on Cambridge-a protein only shake. That pretty much screwed up my…

You can add me. I'm trying to be consistent-it's been a little challenging lately.

Thanks, and yes I did talk to a doctor. He was the one that recommended water aerobics because it's low impact.

Thanks for your replies. I'm sure much of the knee pain is due to my weight, but I can't lose weight without doing something physical. I picked water aerobics b/c I thought it would lower the impact on my knees and ankles. It does, while I'm doing it, but for days after everything is achy. It's not like a torn tendon, just…

So it's 4ish in the morning and I'm up AGAIN. I had a thyroidectomy in December and it seems like my body wants to wake up so I can take my Synthroid now and then go back to sleep. I admit that I seem to sleep better after. I'm kind of achy from the water aerobics. I don't hurt, I just feel like I've worked really hard. My…

I understand completely. Three's the charm, right?

Hello.... I've been on again off again for two years. But this year, this summer, is about me. My short term goal is just to be honest and logon every day. I know if I don't I will stop exercising and watching what I eat. My longer term goals are to stick with the water aerobics course I started this week and to really…

I'm not familiar with that brand although I did at one time purchase some from a store specializing in orthotics. They worked for awhile, but much of the work is done by the shoe. I know my daughter in law went to Run On-a running shoe specialty store. She's on her feet quite a bit and they guarantee to fit you so well…

Fun trip with my husband to visit the new Daiso store and then a trip to 99 Ranch. It's so much fun to visit these stores. So many different veggies and foods. We bought some beautiful shrimps. They had some lovely Red Snapper too, which I will come back and get to grill when it gets warmer. It was just such a delightful…

I'm having a very bad day. I wish I could cheer up. I wish I could laugh. It never rains but it pours.

For some reason I fell asleep for three hours this afternoon! Argh. I had so much to do too. I wanted to get down the lights from outside before we get another cold snap. Oh well. Everything in its time. I will feel so much better once my doctor gets my meds balances. These mood swings are horrible. I get weepy for no…

That's amazing. How long did it take for you to loose that weight? Also, and you can tell me to kiss off if you want, did you have to resort to any surgery to remove excess skin? I ask for myself but also because a friend of mine who lost over 100 lbs with a sleeve ended up needing surgery to deal with excess skin. I'm…

I'm a teacher. But I'm considerably older....that being said, Here's a cartoon to which we can all relate:

My daughter is a dancer. In college she injured her back falling down some stairs. We were literally days away from making a decision on surgery when one of her friends, who was a physical therapist, strongly discouraged her from surgery at such a young age. Instead she found a doctor that used a technique called the…

This may sound odd, but have you tried meditation? A long time ago I took a self hypnosis course and it's about the same thing. I was able to lower my blood pressure through relaxation during a very difficult pregnancy. I am returning to meditation right now. My sister in law gave me a book for Christmas called "Natural…

Welcome to you. And happy New Year! Feel free to ad me. B)

KLanders: Hi Karen-I should have five years left, but with the new mandates for inclusion, and the associated pages of documentation per week, I will be lucky to last the next two. Honestly that is one of my key stressors, although I'm hoping that since my toxic thyroid has gone bye-bye I won't have those late afternoon…

I'm Ellen. I'm in Texas. Friend me. I'm pretty chatty once I get started. I need to lose 65 lbs.

Hi- After a number of setbacks, I'm here for sure this time. It has to happen. I'm nearly 60. I teach high school. I need to lose 65 lbs. I have a few goals/resolutions this time around. I hope it's okay if I post. 1. Use meditation to stave off worry (one of my biggest problems) 2. Monitor meds after my thyroid surgery.…

What a pleasant day. I made cookies for my son to take to work and no, I did not sample the batter. I played with my grandson and enjoyed the day off. I have to admit I am dreading returning to work on Monday.

Grapes?

Wow. I also need to lose about 65 lbs. I am also a high school teacher-Studio Art and AP Art (no I don't have time to make any of my own stuff :/ ) Which means hall duty in lieu of a relaxed lunch, rushed meetings and too many days on my feet. I plan to be on here daily. I also will be exercising daily. I also WILL DO THIS…

I'm just starting on this myself as I had my thyroid removed three weeks ago. I have a very strong history of thyroid issues. Heck, even my dog is on thyroid meds. I know the first few days the mood swings were really bad. Anything would set me off. I also know it's important to take the meds on an empty stomach first…

My sister in law gave me a book on Meditation. It's called "Natural Meditation" and it's about learning to relax into yourself. Maybe a local library has something similar you could use to destress.

I hear you. I'm there with you. This year though after just having had thyroid surgery, I have new hope that my metabolism might actually work WITH me rather than against me. I need to lost 65 lbs to be to a healthy weight. Plus I teach school which makes eating stressful and rushed. But if I can try again ( and trust me,…

Try getting the self contained salads at the store and pick up some fresh fruit. You'll both feel better with some veggies. Perhaps see if a local gym will let you use their facilities on a per day basis.

I was very sick with thyroid problems. I had a strong family history-both my mother and grandmother had hypothyroidism and my daughter and youngest son also were diagnosed as adults. Although I had every single symptom, my lab work would show up as normal. It wasn't until a pronounce nodule presented that I was referred to…
