  • I second weighing everything you eat, volume measurements are not very precise. Weighing a tablespoon of peanut butter was a real eye opener for me! Are you sure you're burning as many calories as you log? I'd try a week or two of not eating back your workout calories or eating only a third of it and see what happens then.…
  • I've recently discovered Skyr vanilla yoghurt. No idea if you can get it where you are, but 100g has 8.8g of protein, 0.2g of fat, 3.3g of sugar and 53 calories. I buy it in big, 350g tubs so I'm getting 31g of protein with 186 calories
  • My son was allergic to cow's milk and had to be on a special formula (Nutramigen - agghhh I still shriek when I remember the smell of it) when he was small but he grew out of it by the time he was 1. Somehow he was able to eat certain yoghurts and in reasonable quantities at that so he wasn't deprived of the whole dairy…
  • I was on 1200cal for 2 months and dropped 10kg (please ignore my ticker, it's totally wrong) losing 1kg (~2 pounds) a week on average. Now I upped my calories to 1310 to slow it down to 0.5kg (~1lbs) a week as I only have 10-15 lbs to go. You can lose on 1200 and you can lose on 1400. Find out what works for you and stick…
  • I'm 5'8 (173cm) and currently at 164.5lbs (74.6kg). I started on March 3rd with 185lbs (84kg) and thought getting down to a healthy bmi would be enough. Now that I'm there I see I could do with a few more kgs less so, rather than setting a goal on the scale, I'm just going to eat deficit and work out until I'm happy enough…
  • I usually work out in the evenings for about 30-50 minutes doing Jillian Michaels workouts. Why don't you try to find half an hour after your child goes to bed and exercise at home?
  • I've been on beta blockers for 4 years now and they never influenced my weight. But I have been wondering if, since they essentially slow down your heartbeat, they make it harder for cardio to be effective. Anyway, I've lost 5kg since 3rd March by counting calories and doing Jillian Michaels workouts 4-5 times a week so…
  • I'm sure it is but it's a bit like alcoholic having a drink....having said that I do go for treats every now and then. Anyway, not to derail the pet peeves thread, I'm sure I'll find my way to up the calories without going berserk on sugar :D And as for what gets on my tits re weight loss, it's people expecting a quick fix…
  • I can answer this one - you don't need to actually like food to get overweight. You may just be obsessed with sweets. I'd often have nothing but 3 slices of cake, a bar of chocolate and a big pack of m&m's throughout the day. This and a total lifestyle change (from an active working person to a lazy housewife) made me put…
