  • Pain and illness ALWAYS raises BP. But, your BP was NOT high. They seem to have way lowered the bar on acceptable BP levels over the recent years. It's my belief it has been done to increase the patient use of statins to line the pockets and fatten the bank accounts of the pharmaceutical companies. Meh!
  • Well, one thing is, it depends where you are getting your fats from, say, if its by the tablespoon, then add by the teaspoon. I discovered a teaspoon goes a long long way and is PLENTY! Next, as a vegetarian, do you eat alot of cheese? That can be deadly. Next, watch them nuts! If, you eat alot of those, they sneak up on…
  • "Calories burned" indicator on work out machines always totally way way over estimate. Try using Sparkpeople calories burned during work out calculator . Much more accurate. Also, we all tend to under estimate what we really eat. Your macros help tell you what you are really eating as well as the calorie total. Also, heck!…
  • WOAH!!! ! If I believed this was the only life we have to live, only the here and now, I would be SCRAMBLING to change my eating habits, get fit, enjoy life to the utmost fullest, because, after all, it's all there is and ever will be!!! All you have to do is, indeed, as everyone is saying, make SMALL changes. Cut out ONE…
  • When we quit sugar snd sugary foods, the sugar craving has to turn to something. Fructose is allowable. Lots of vitamins, minerals and fiber. How ever, it's still a "sugar", in the "ose" family. No more than 2 to 3 servings a day. I could eat mangos, apples and drink OJ by the train car load if I'm not careful.
  • Sounds like its all 100% water retention. You know that when you eat high glycemic foods such as the carb binge you have recently had, the glycogen molecules in the carbs each bind with h2o molecules. The way to dump that water is to eat low carb for about three or four days. It should whoosh away and I'd be willing to…
  • ^^^^ This
  • That is a keeper!
  • This would work for me.
  • Funny, I just got back from a six day trip to London and I drank wine or beer every evening. We walked so much, I burned it all off, including the calories eaten. Calculating in the calories into your daily net, seems you can have your Wine and eat it too. Just burn it all off with in your calorie boundaries. My dad did…
  • Sounds to me like its time to move on. But, if you still like her, and she is a true friend, Tell her to cut it out, or you're done. Been there.
  • ^^^^^ This. You can organize some new food. Foods that are healthy yet satisfying and that you can live with for years to come. Organize exercise that is do able and that is maintainable. I work out EVERY DAY because I am doing walking, and now it's burning 400-500 cals per day. Then, I now eat things I like but that are…
  • First time I lost 40 pounds, and got to a REALLY perfect weight, I got those kinds of comments. It was always from the over weight women too. I felt so good and looked hot in those days, so their words made me feel actually kinda cool. ....hope I hear stuff like that again...
  • ^^^^^ This I am 57. I started at 1200 cals per day. Then, I started to exercise. During the three months, I found myself getting fit. Fit enough over time to go beyond the beginning 30 minutes of walking a day, up to what I do now, 80 - 110 minutes a day. Because of this, I was stalling at 1200 cals and recalculated by…
  • I m going to London for 6 days, this will be a good way to keep me on track and not lose all my progress knowing I have to weigh in. I get back the night of the 12 th so it works. SW: 203.2 CW: 189.2 GW: 184.2 Weigh in Dates: 8/6 - 189.2 8/14- 190.7 8/19 8/26 After 6 days in London, I only gained 1.5 pounds! I expected to…
  • Weight naturally fluctuates pretty wildly every day. Mine has always done so. My weight loss chart was a wild up-down zig- zag, BUT, a steady downward trend. Water weight fluctuates wildly, especially with TOM. Muscle retains water after a hard work out. Fat retains water more than muscle. Lots of factors. Keep steady at…
  • This is what I found too. I am always way under MFP carbs, and I found 1 gram protein for ideal body weight is enough. Mfp says i need only 44 grams protien, and i do better at 60. Fat is nessecary for all metabolic processes, but I limit ADDED fats. I will cook a meal in 1 teaspoon olive oil: 4 grams fat, 40 cals.…
  • Sounds to me like according to your work out, you may be gaining muscle which is quite a bit heavier than fat. You also may need to eat more since you are a post man. And if you are a post man, I assume you are a man. Your BMR will be around 1500-1800. You say you stay under 2000. Sounds like you may be slipping into a bit…
  • ^^^^^ this I found that eating clean, NO SWEETS, I cut the salt, ate NOTHING processed, all good solid nutritionally dense foods, My appetite dropped dramatically. Even with the exercise program I have of power walking with heavy hands 80-100 minutes, 6 days a week. I am sure the honey is not helping. If I ate any sweets,…
  • I am 5'6, I was 204 June 1st, then achieved an 15 pound loss by August 7th. Hehe, went on a 6 day trip to London with a friend, came back, Only gained back A POUND!!!!! YES!!!! I expected to gain a whole lot more, believe me! It pays to LIFT HEAVY! Muscle burns calories like crazy!
  • I know what you mean. Tomorrow I leave for London. I have determined to keep off all carbs, and sugar. That should do it.
  • 2 things I do: Tsp. peanut butter w/1/2tsp jam on a lo cal corn cracker. I will eat 4 of these. 120 calories. Or, 3 frozen dates. Of maybe even 5. Calories...not sure.
  • Sick and tired of being a fat dumpy middle aged useless blob. Nuf said.

  • Weighted vest! I didn't know one could get one of these. In the mean time, I have been using my free weights in my back pack. A bit awkward but it can add another few pounds and up the calorie burn.
