I was vegan for roughly 5 months and vegetarian for over 3 years, until this past summer. I did indeed lose about 10 pounds during this time, but definitely did not feel my best during this time. Although I ate large portions and ate till I was very full, I would always become hungry after a meal rather quickly. After I…

Diabetes also runs in my family, so I'm planning on cutting my sugar intake significantly by limiting to one "small sugar product" a day and one treat a week, instead of my daily dose of five cookies haha

At 5'2", I have lost weight when I cut my calories to 1400, because eating at 1200 gave me absolutely no energy for the day whatsoever. I'm currently maintaining at 1900-2050 (I would say I'm also pretty active)

Yes it's absolutely possible that the amount of food you consume can affect your running performance. With less energy in your body, you'll have a more difficult time keeping up to your usual speed you run at when you are consuming your usual amount of calories. I actually do eat oatmeal nearly everyday for breakfast and have been doing so for the past few months! I don't add any additional sugar or butter, but I do add cinnamon, bananas, or any other fruits so it doesn't get boring ever!

Is it true that you should eat a large breakfast and slowly decrease your meals as you go on throughout the day?

Oh, I eat watermelons that are quite big. Most of mine tend to be around 10-15 pounds!
