These are my motivations: I like seeing my abs and i want to be able to jump higher. Both of these require me to be lighter and more fit.

This is all good feedback. As I recall, people began to notice once I initially lost 30 lbs last year, but I think it's because I was wearing the same clothes and they were loose. Once I bought proper fitting clothing I didn't get as many comments. Since then I lost an addtional 20, but then I regained 30 and then lost 10…

Same here! People are always shocked. But I think it's mostly because I'm 6'2" with long limbs, short torso, and i cary most of my weight in my lower body. It's like an optical illusion lol

As far as I know, one risk of having too much protein (in general) is the extra calories. If you're really trying to stick by your daily calorie goals, having too much protein takes away from the other nutrients that you may want to have also. The other thing is, some protein shakes are high in sugar and fat, so too much…

I've heard this too. By any chance, are you still wearing the same shirts and jackets (or same size) you wore when you were heavier? That could really exaggerate your weight loss to other people, especially when they remember you wearing the same thing before you lost weight. When I started losing weight I had to go…

I went to KFC a few weeks ago to finally try the famous Double Down. I figured I would love a sandwich that consisits of a bun made out of chicken. So I planned ahead to have the 600 calories available. Just my luck, apparently KFC no longer makes the Double Down. The cashier offered me the Doublicious instead, which is a…

A lot of good info on this thread for you AprilEternity. I definitely agree with avoiding the deadline thing, especially so far in the future. Plus you may love how you look after only losing half of that weight. Maybe focus more on BMI (for health) and body fat percentage (for health and looks). I bought one of those…

forget about cardio and calorie deficits. Body wraps will do the trick

I plan ahead (pack lunch, etc), but I always log directly after i eat anything. I don't like to log ahead of time just in case I only eat a portion of my food, I would definitely forget to change it.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, but you did answer my question, thanks No_Finish_Line. I guess I just needed some reassurance that I was going about the weight loss the right way. We'll see what happens when I go into maintenance, I will try to be patient with it.

So far a lot of what I read on this thread has been very helpful...thanks guys I'm considering going into maintenance in a couple of weeks after I finish my second round of Insanity. As of Monday I weigh 192 lbs (down from 234 in June) with 17% body fat. Height is 6'2" My body fat percentage is not quite where I want it to…

Here's a simple way to look at the whole muscle weighs more than fat FACT. 1 cubic foot of muscle will weigh more than 1 cubic foot of fat. Canuname's illustration is very helpful as well.

I agree with this! Make sure you are drinking enough water...8-12 cups per day, maybe more since you're pretty active. IMO, drinking water fights water retention, even though that sounds counter productive. The body retains water because it may not getting enough to begin with. Once the body is getting enough water, and…

A few things...and i apologize if you already do some of these things. When you weight yourself, I would do so once a week at the same time of day, preferably the morning after peeing and before eating or working out. If you weight yourself directly after strength training it will be higher because of your temporary pump…

25bmi BMI is below national average You have a lower BMI than 65% of males aged 15-29 in your country Global Above average You have a higher BMI than 79% of males aged 15-29 in the world Did you know? If everyone in the world had the same BMI as you, it would add 20,377,184 tonnes tothe total weight of the world's…

A lot of good info here. Thanks man.

I'm no expert. However, I've learned that keeping track of body fat percentage can be helpful in maintaining a healthy weight. Just like there is a healthy weight range according to your BMI, there is also a healthy body fat percentage range. Check out this link:…

I like your attitude. keeping track of changes in your body fat % could help ensure that you're losing fat and gaining muscle

O ok I think I get what your saying, anh720. basically if MFP is telling me to consume 1500 cals/day (10,500 cals/week) to lose 2lbs then that means 17,500 must be my weekly TDEE: (10,500 + {3,500*2})...3500 being the necessary cal deficit to lose 1 lb. And then of course my daily TDEE is 2500. Sometimes I get a little…

I track my calories day by day and not by week. My daily goal is about 1500, so if I go over on Monday, 1500 is still my goal on Tuesday. However, SOMETIMES i'll try to make up for overages by doing more cardio on another day while eating the same as I would on a normal day. I guess that's kinda the same as eating less lol

This is sooo annoying...I have friends that kind do the same thing. Except in your case it seems like your cousin wants you to eat food that you would never eat by yourself. Whereas with my friends its usually eating (especially drinking) unhealthy things that I've consumed in the past and would still consume now but in…

Yea I always go over on sugar too. I think it won't affect weight loss if you're already at a deficit. I'm no expert but I always hear that a calorie is a calorie is a calorie. But I guess non-fruits with high amounts of sugar are usually high in calories too so its easy to go over without eating that much.

I agree with all of this

Great smile :)

The weight gain could be because of muscle gain from lifting weights. If you haven't already, you should start keeping track of your body fat %, if that's gradually decreasing then you have nothing to worry about. Also, I weigh myself once a week, always at the same time of day (Monday mornings while my stomach is empty…

My waist went from 41.5 inches down to 37.5 (9/2/13). I measure once a month so we'll see where I am next week. I started at 234 lbs and now weigh 197. I'm 6'2" so not a huge difference. My shirts still fit, just significantly looser, but I had to get new pants and a new belt.

i'm in week 3 of my 2nd round of insanity! it still kicks my butt!
