  • There seem to be a lot of articles saying you have to do it right after and some say you don’t need to. I would think your overall protein intake over the day would be more important in the big picture. I personally drink a protein shake right after my workout and seems to work for me as I am usually starving anyway. My…
  • I have had a lingering knee pain for 2 months now. I did some lunges and maybe landed wrong. I took two weeks off and though it went away and after squatting felt the pain coming back. Funny thing is I can do front squats fine no pain but once I do a backsquat I feel it coming back. Our box was doing a 12 week squat…

  • I agree with all the posters above. You will get any help you need on the obstacles. I made it through all obstacles fine but must have been asked about 3 times if I wanted some help or a boost. Most people are friendly and will help out. I signed up for the race in Tuxedo alone. Many of my friends wanted to go too but all…
  • The race was awesome. Much harder than the Citifield race and the hills were brutal. The cargo net was tough but managed to get all obstacles done with no burpees(luckily). Can't wait until next year and may see if there are any other race in the area in the next few months.
  • I usually feel the foam rolling if I am sore. When I first started doing Crossfit I must have used the foam roller 3 times a day due to being very sore. I swear it helped me recover a bit faster. I still use it now after my workouts but I do not feel the same tension in my muscles when I roll. But I also am not as sore as…

  • I had done a C25K app( best 2 bucks I every spent) on my phone before I started Crossfit and that helped tremendously with my running. It was about 3 month and running every other day. Great program and ramped you up slowly. I must say I hated to run and about half way through the program I started to enjoy it. I still am…

  • Thanks for all the feedback. Great advice. I kind of feel the same way as you Intheinbetween. Also, maybe I should not have used the wording RX, but my goal is to eventually RX my WODs(with weights) in an decent time. I was curious which was was better to build endurance stay with the heavier weight or to lower it. Seems…

  • This was my 12 Days of Crossfit WOD. It was also my first WOD after foundations. I scaled to 75# and did the Body Blaster Burpee. I only got to Day 11 before time cap. A bit bummed I could not finish. 1 x Muscle Up (scale with 1 Body Blaster Burpee) 2 x Power Snatches (95/65) 3 x HSPU (scale with 1 wall walk) 4 x SDHP…
  • Sounds interesting. As I am new to Crossfit I think the challenges are great and motivating. My box is doing a 30 Paleo challenge in January. Though I might try it out. They had mentioned you do WOD on day 1 and repeat on day 30, you then get points for improvement. Also your body fat % is measured on day 1 and 30 for…
  • I had stopped by a sport department store today and saw nano 2s, 3s, and oly shows by Reebok. all prices above $100. I would love to get a pair but was thinking as I just started doing Crossfit. At what point do you really need them. I am sure they will help as you progress but how much of a difference did you feel once…
  • Thanks for all of the comments. I wish I could do the 5:30 am workouts that would be a great start to the day. Not really a morning person and never feel that great working out early. I may try a few early classes just to see how I do but would love to transition to mornings if possible.
  • Quick update. So I did my first crossfit (one day free intro) class this past weekend. I must say it was a great workout, at first I though the WOD seemed pretty simple but once I got to the end it kicked my *kitten*. This WOD was a combo of running and calisthenic type exercises. I was even a bit sore the next day. I…
  • I agree the yoga in P90X is very boring and way to long. I haven't done P90X in a while but when I did yoga X I think I skipped a few sections to minimize the time and get through it. You can sub in another cardio workout, but I think yoga is a good fit into the program (just not so long) and I did feel good after. Also, I…
  • Although I wasn't born in Poland I consider myself Polish. My parents were born in Poland and we grew up in Brooklyn in a Polish community. Nice to meet you all, add me if you like!!
  • Awesome job! Congrats! I had completed Insanity a while ago and lost about 16lbs too. Great program. I may tackle it again in the next few months, always felt so great after completing the workouts!
  • Fantastic!!!! Great job on the gun!!!
  • Great idea. I have a polar FT4 and used it to track my Insanity workouts. Found it to be very helpful tracking calories and knowing if I was slacking during that day or not. I would love to see how many calories are burned during a crossfit workout. Thanks for the advice.
  • Thanks for all the advice and the links. I will try to build up my endurance in the next month with a bit more running and keep up with the gym. I will give an update on my experience once I join up.
  • Just emailed Patrick. I am in for this rematch and ready to kick some *kitten* next week. It will be a nice way to push myself to get back into things.
  • Nerd here, too many thing to list. Movies, books, games, anime, you name it. Only problem I have is time. Few of my favorites: Star Wars, Song of Fire and Ice, LOTR, Star Trek, anything zombie. Anyone is free to add me....
  • I am almost done with Zombies, Run 5K trainer and though it was pretty good. I think you can add music so after the characters talk you can run to your playlist. I was in the second to last week and then my knee began to bother me so am taking a break. I never though I would like running but the app helped. Will have to…
  • Bumping this just to see if anyone else has had this type of issue. Haven't Run in about 5 day and my knee feels better but still apprehensive about running yet. Going to a doctor next week for a physical so I will inquire about my knee then. Hope I don't lose any of my running gains.
  • Good luck in Insanity, I completed it about 2 months ago and though it was a great program. Month 2 is where you should see the best results, it gets picked up a notch. I lost about 16 lbs on the program and I did not eat so clean either. I am sure you will see great results. It does get a bit boring after a while but…
  • I completed Insanity about 2 months ago. I had a HRM and was burning about 400-600 calories in the first month and about 600-800 in the second month. I lost about 16lbs on the program and most of it was in the second month. I did gain muscle and my overall fitness was greatly improved. So it does work you just have to give…
  • I was researching the popliteal muscle strain and it has something to do with below the knee rotation of your leg. So if you are driving for long distances and on the brake and gas a lot, I could see the muscle being strained by moving you foot back and forth. So it may not be way out there.
  • I do have running shoes but did not go to a running shop to get fitted. I did not really think about this when I first started to run so I just bough a pair of running shoes but will definitely go to a running shop. Thanks for info.
