  • In my experience, anything under 1500 calories/day is fine unless you have some kind of deadline you're trying to meet. Don't forget that you can add back in what ever you burn exercising. You might just need to up the exercise a little in order to be able to consume a few more calories to help avoid feeling hungry.
  • I started losing weight at the beginning of the year (late January) and by Memorial Day I lost 25 pounds. All I did was stick to a 1200 calorie/day diet. I didn't really worry too much about what I was eating as long as I stayed in the calorie range. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures because when I started I didn't…
  • I'm 5' 5". Sorry, I don't have any pics yet. SW: 160 - Size 10/Large (Jan. 2011) CW: 135 - Size 6/Medium (Aug. 2011) GW: 125 (Dec 2011)
  • That's what I've been doing all along. I find that weekends are my down fall and I'm always higher on Monday and back to where I wanna be on Friday. But I like keep track and seeing it go down on the chart.
  • My husband was diagnosed with pancreatitis in the ER about 10 years ago. They told him that it was caused by his gall bladder and did emergency surgery. Turned out that he had three stones and the gall bladder itself was so infected that it was ganggrene. After the surgery, he was not given any diet restrictions. He has…
  • When there is leftover food in my house that I don't want to be tempted with, I bring it to work and let my co-workers enjoy it. (It helps that I work with mostly men and food doesn't last more than 5 minutes around them).
  • I love sushi! I eat sushi atleast once a week. There are quite a few rolls that don't contain cream cheese or fried fish. I typically go for rolls with salmon. Rainbow Roll is a good one. I usually ask for no sauces and eat them plain. I find that I am able to eat a whole roll and be full without being over-full.
  • I react the same way. If I'm planning on having cheesecake, I adjust my meals or my exercise to compensate.
  • Great job! You must feel terrific!
  • Good luck to you. Don't try to rush the weight loss process. Slow and steady works the best; one to two pounds a week. And don't try to consume less than 1200/day. Definetly calculate what is best for you.
  • I log EVERYTHING! Even when I go on vacation. I find that I tend to go over on the weekends (thanks to my husband), but I can make up the excess calories during the week and balance out. When I go away, I log everything knowing that I'm going WAY over my goals, but I don't let it bother me. I figure it just means that…
  • I've been doing Zumba for over three years now. It has helped to tone my body, but I never lost any weight because of it. I discovered MFP earlier this year and, by counting calories, I've lost 25 pounds. I still go to Zumba about 1 to 3 times a week and I use those days a chance to consume a few more calories. On the…
  • I use a MIO watch to calculate how many calories I burn when I'm on the treadmill and I've found that the watch and the machine are pretty well matched to each other, but MFP seems to be way off. It all has to do with heart rate, age, and gender.
  • That's great! I was going to make my driver's license weight one of my goals too, but apparenly NY stopped putting weight on licenses. LOL
  • Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My ex-husband used to tell me I was a hidous cow because I didn't look like a super-model. My current husband tells me everyday that I am beautiful and he's scared that if I lose too much weight I will be too beautiful and want to run off. (LOL. He's a little paranoid; I'm not going…
  • Congratulations! Keep up the good work!
  • I've been using MFP since early February and found that the first 10 pounds came off real easy. The trick is being honest and keeping track of EVERYTHING. (It helps to use the mobile app). Once I got into the habit of focusing on my daily calories, I started planning my daily meals and now it's a part of my morning…
  • The BMR is the calories you would burn in a day of doing nothing (staying in bed all day) not the calories you have to consume to lose weight.
  • I personally feel the same way and don't bother logging it in either.

  • You can totally do this! I've been on the heavy side of the "recommended" weight range for my height my whole life. In the last few years I've gained a few more pound than I expected (or realized). I found MFP earlier this year and since the beginning of February I've managed to lose 20 pounds just by counting calories.…
  • I haven't used Zumba for wii, but I do take regular Zumba classes and I burn any where from 400 to 450 calories per class. (My average is 430). I would say at least 200 calories for a hour with wii. I also use a Mio watch to keep track of calories burned, you might want to look into using something like that to find your…
  • I log it in as aerobic dance and I keep track of how many calories I burn with a MIO watch. My average is 430 calories per hour.
  • I tried this recipe last night. It was great and I got to eat so much without going over my daily calories. My husband also bonused with the fact that it's naturally gluten-free!! Yum!
