  • I've been thinking about binging and what it means for the last several months. I never considered myself a binge eater. Prior to coming to MFP there were a few foods that I would occasionally over-indulge in but I never thought of it as bingeing (and still don't). However, I now clearly have some food that if left in the…

  • That's a huge victory....congratulations to you :)
  • So, are we twins separated at birth? I talk to myself ALL THE TIME!!! Sometimes its good self talk, sometimes its not. Sometimes I win, sometimes I don't. I'm really struggling trying to figure out what is going on with me. I've taken up running and feel good about that. I talk to myself at lot while I'm running. Usually…
  • Yes, I would see a doctor to rule out medical issues. For what its worth, I don't think you are lying at all. I just think that somewhere, either in estimates of calories burned or estimates of calories eaten, there is a flaw in those estimates. My exercise today consisted of 20 minutes on the elliptical, 20 minutes of…
  • I have a couple of observations: 1. 300 calories in half an hour is a LOT. I know you are just taking the reading from the HRM but it leaves me wondering just how accurate that is. What are you doing for cardio? Is your HRM set to your stats? Or does it work with "averages"? I would be leery of eating back that many…
  • Wow...lots of great replies and great ideas. I think there might be a runner inside of me somewhere...I want to give it a try. I remember when my Dad made me do that run around the block and I HATED it. But that summer I spent a week at the beach with my grandparents and we (the kids) had races on the beach....running in…
  • The cost is quite high. They have packages with various numbers of nights to stay and various allowances for services (facials, etc.). September is their anniversary month so we got a 25% discount. The base price, with the discount, for my stay was $2835. I am by no means wealthy, and can't afford to this with any…
  • Sorry, really not an ad. I promised my friends on MFP I would give a full report, with details of all the activities I completed. My goal was to try everything I could and get the full experience. I guess I put in the times to show that each day was chock full of things to do, with a great variety so there was no boredom.…
  • Just an fyi...when I wear my heart rate monitor for a brisk walk I only burn 50 calories per mile. Its really dependant on the pace, how much you currently weigh and your heart rate. I walk 4 miles in an hour, for a total burn of between 200 and 225.
  • this sounds good :)
  • I'll be 50 in July. The changes started as I hit 30 and got more pronounced after 40. I'm guessing 50 will have its own surprises but for now I am happy with where I am. Working out has made all the difference for me so I plan to keep at it. I wish I'd started this earlier but I can't look back, only forward.
  • i'm interested in this too....hope you get some more replies.
  • Turning 50 in July. I've been on maintenance for almost 2 years but still looking to improve myself. Peri-menopausal so totally get the hormone thing! Count me in please :)
  • Not to belabor the point, but I have both sizes of cupcake tins. One regular size cupcake is equal to 4 mini cupcakes (I measured to make sure I wasn't mis-speaking). That means the box makes approximately 96 mini cupcakes, each with just under 23 calories. I realize that precision is important in counting calories but it…
  • She made MINI cupcakes. She noted in a post later on that if you make 24 regular sized cupcakes its about 90 calories per cupcake.
  • Using the calculator above and selecting moderately active, my TDEE is 2136. That seems high to me. Am I really supposed to average that many calories per day? And I could maintain on that?
  • Boy pounds......I love it! Made me laugh this morning.....thanks!
  • Maintenance is harder than losing I think. I've been in maintenance for over a year and know that my weight will fluctuate. I try to keep myself within a range and if I go above that, and stay there for a while, I log the gain and reduce calories till its gone. I try not to worry about daily fluctuations, they are totally…
  • anyone feel free to add me too....always nice to add a friend or two. I will be 50 in July, lost my weight and mostly doing maintenance now. I love this site....its the only thing that's worked for longer than a few days :)
  • I was once at a Friendly's Restaurant, known for their burgers and ice cream. After she rushed us through our meal the waitress came over with our slip. I told her we weren't done yet, that I wanted an ice-cream for dessert (who goes to Friendly's without getting ice-cream?). She told me she didn't have time to get me…
  • My 11 month old niece (in my profile pic) is in daycare in Newtown. The daycare is in lockdown still but she is safe. Please pray for all the families involved in this horrible tragedy....who kills little kids 10 days before Christmas? My heart is breaking.
  • I just bought this one. It came this weekend and today will be my first time to the gym with it. So, I can't yet tell you how I like it, but I can tell you when I asked my MFP they said to get this one. This site was the cheapest I found it and they had free shipping.…
  • When I was trying to lose I ate about half of my exercise calories back.
  • We always had chores when I was growing up. There was just me and my brother, and maybe my parents didn't "need" our help. But we were taught that contributing was part of being a family. Everyone has a job that makes things run more smoothly for the family, that's just the way it was. Chores were age appropriate and we…
  • That's the best thing I've seen on here in a while.....what a very sweet NSV for you :)
  • I'm 49 and have been here almost 2 years. Hit my goal in May 2011, lost 10 more pounds and have maintained since November 2011. I'm in the best shape of my life, thanks to this site, Jillian Michaels and my gym, (cardio express). Friend me if you'd like :)
  • As of 7 pm over 1.5 million customers without power (across many states). CT is experiencing dangerous flooding, very high woods, rain. The local news showed one restaurant on the coast of CT, build in the 1920's, about to slide into the ocean. Its pretty awful out there. And downright scary......
