One of mine is right there in your ticker- Eddie Izzard (though prefer him without heels!) Alan Rickman too as the Sherriff of Nottingham And Jeff Goldblum- particularly in Jurassic Park! :blushing:

As Rayman79 says, the weight loss is related to calorie deficit- which, in the case of the 5:2 diet, is created by the 2 fast days. If you don't have too much to lose, you would probably aim for 0.5 to 1lb per week. My stats, exercise and eating regimes are similar to yours, and I have started lifting too. I am very close…

Fish Cheese French bread Wine Salad That's just breakfast... how many can we have?

I did the London Marathon a few years ago. A very slow time, as I'm not a runner, but must have burned around 2600. The only way i could get down the stairs the next day was by coming down backwards!

Yum, saved this for future reference, thanks for sharing!

Trust the King was in first class? Don't suppose he'd find a cup of Tetley's and a curled up cheese sarnie very amusing!

Exhibit A: black cab. I wonder if Boris is on that bus.....

I'm 3 pounds away too, and my diary is open, add me if you like- I'm looking forward to maintenance- I think! Oh, and just started NROLFW too!

Frankly, if you've just eaten a whole jar of pickles, i'm more concerned about your digestive system than calorie intake at this point!
-
Could you send us a UK version of that recipe please (we do have plates and microwaves)

The time to worry is when no-one is staring anymore .....

That story was sounding vaguely familiar- until the part where you did actually check your wife was in bed.....
-
So glad that all your hard work and determination has paid off and translated into something really meaningful for you too. Lots of successes in your story, well done, and good luck with your future walks! :drinker:

Oh honey- they exercise in a different way!   (and that's not a generalisation, it's true!!)
-
Sadly, most of them don't need cheat days! (sigh). I think if I lived there now, every day would be a cheat day!
-
And of course, that wasn't a generalisation! But I get where you were going with that. And entirely agree with your original post. I've lived in France, and stay with French friends on occasion. The way of eating is ingrained. And anyone who 'feels sorry' for the French not snacking doesn't need to. They have a very…

Homemade rhubarb crumble ice cream (made far too much for a party). And don't really eat ice-cream, so happy to send it to someone! (Possibly in exchange for cheese and/or wine....)

Is it me, or does that cat look like William Hague?! (With all apologies to the cat)

Thanks for all the work put into this- saving to read again!

Bump, and thank you!

Interesting question, seems that calipers are the way to go unless you want to fork out a fortune. By the way, can really see your progess- it looks like a lot more than 8lb, so whatever you are doing, keep it up, you look great!

Coleslaw. Tastes yummy, and the contrasting textures work well.

Think you've got lots of good advice there. But just wanted to add- how downright rude, all those spare calories and you don't even offer them round!

I have been in exactly the same situation. After 5 years of back pain and trying just about everything including steroid injections, an epidural, osteopaths, physio etc etc I ended up having a discectomy for my herniated disc. The surgeon told me there was no guarantee, but I felt it was worth a go. Unfortunately, it had…

Sorry, posted too soon! I think you answered your own question. You say that on 1200-1300 you don't feel like cheating. And re-read your first sentence- you had no cheat days, you exercised and you felt great. Go back to that- if it takes your body a short while to adjust, it's more than worth it. Good luck to you…

Hoping to be in maintenance in a few weeks time, so will catch up with you guys then. In the meantime, best of luck

Yep, just about to say the same!

1.The first time I measured out 30g of my favourite muesli. I stared at it, thinking it couldn't be true. Barely enough for a mouse! 2. Recording my tipples of wine. Turns out, more than just tipples. Must have been bathing in the stuff. 3. Okay, on a smaller note, but 90 calories in a pear? Who knew!
