If you want to improve your grip - which is something I need to do - try doing farmers walks with kettle bells…..This is improving my grip for all heavy lifting…as far as pull-ups go…I can manage about 4….and I don't seem to be improving…that said I haven't dedicated any time to it as I'm embarrassed to try at the gym

Thank you all!!!! I've seen a couple of pairs of Harbinger gloves so with your recommendations I will go with that! I don't have any decent sports shops around here that sell gloves (apart from the nike gloves I had before) everything has to be done online! My callouses are awful at the moment, been lifting without gloves…

Well done with your weight loss!!! That's fab! Lifting weights or should I say growing muscle will burn even more fat and tone you up but with the issues that you have suffered in the past I would agree with the previous poster......speak to the doctor, invest in a personal trainer (even if only for the first few sessions)…

BTW I only train legs once a week, that is enough for me as I can't walk properly for at least 2 days after!
-
I had the same problem.....but I was a skinny fat! Leg Press, Leg extensions, Leg Curls, Glute Bridges, Kickbacks, Lunges, deadlifts and definitely squats!!! My legs aren't big but they are now more shapely and I can't pinch anything and my butt has grown...in a good way! Go for heavy weights too....I'm working on my squat…

I have grip issues and it is really frustrating when it hinders your lifting! I use straps for deadlifting and it has meant I've been able to pile the weight on and not suffer too much...gloves helped for a bit but it's not my hands getting sore that's the problem my forearm hurts from actually gripping (I get a serious…

I love lifting and it's done wonders for my body....I was never fat, well maybe a skinny fat!!! I love the shape that it's given me, my legs are much more shapely, my arms are toned and I can wave without wobbling. I've gained almost a stone since I started lifting, but I've not gained any inches, just got more solid and…

Hi, Well done with your weight loss, that's amazing!! I have been weight training for the past 9 months and also love it! I didn't want to lose any weight before I started and I very rarely do any cardio maybe a fast paced hill walk on the treadmill but very very rarely run! I have gained a stone since I started....however…

I'm desperate to but I've got to try to sort my hip flexibility out before I can squat much weight! : ( I like hard and I like difficult and I really like heavy but I don't want to injure myself and not be able to lift at all!!! I watch with jealousy at people squatting! I may bug my trainer a little bit more and see if we…
-
Thank you Amy.....my trainer can see how frustrated I'm getting so gets me to squat with kettle bells every other leg day (the kettle bell seems to make me straighter.....the leg press has sorted out my knees coming together on the up......so I am halfway towards getting sorted! My other problem is my personality...if I…

I usually do 90 secs front plank then 2x60 second side planks with dips at the end! I actually haven't done and abs or planks for ages.....thank you for reminding me - plank time :)

I agree with other posters.....invest in a trainer to show you the ropes and guide you....I'm 35 and started lifting this year in Feb....I love it...and I still have my trainer too.....I seem to be able to do more when I work out with him! Although I'm confident enough to get in the gym and do it myself, I probably don't…

Oooh I will be dipping more then!! Thank you for that : )

I have issues with bench presses too......ladies just aren't built with strong chest muscles so we have to be patient! I'm currently stuck at about 77lbs (35kg) for 8! I've been doing dumbbell presses and fly's to try to strengthen my chest and some push ups every day (apart from chest day!) I have the opposite problem to…

I would really recommend investing in a trainer for your first couple of sessions to show you good form and get you set up/comfortable with exercises and lifting! However if you are unable to do that, I use the fitness buddy app to look up exercises for certain areas if I'm struggling to think of a workout and put my own…

BWE Body Weight Exercies...Pushups Planks Dips Squats Lunges etc....with your dumbbells you can work on your arms and shoulders and chest....with curls and presses and raises and also add a bit more weight for your squats and lunges.

Hi I lift 5-6 times a week and started in February, have a pt for 3 of those sessions and absolutely love it! The feeling of being strong is amazing, especially when he tells me I lift more than some of his male clients! :) It's done wonders for my body too, I was never big/overweight, I told him on my first session that I…

I was doing traditional deadlifts yesterday (got a new PB of 80kg - so chuffed) and I'm feeling it in my upper and mainly lower back, hamstrings and my glutes....I love it! I also love a straight leg deadlift but as I can't squat due to my form being off (something I'm deseparate to sort out)...I love the glutes workout…

Hi I've been lifting for a while now and love it, I have a PT who kicks my butt into action!!!! I still have targets though! I tend to go to the gym 5-6 times a week for an hour...each session is for one/or two body parts. Arms/Back/Chest/Shoulders/Legs with abs thrown in for 10 mins at the end of most of them. I'm rubbish…

Oh no why can't you train at the moment, that would drive me crazy....if that's you in the pic, you have an amazing physique...I'm aiming for that....but only started about 7 months ago!!! Getting there slowly and enjoying every minute of it......apart from leg day....which is hard but I always feel proud of myself after!…

I'm trying a sample pack today to see how it goes.....and it's leg day so my grip shouldn't be a problem ( I have enough problems with grip as it is, so will bear this in mind!) I have creatine in my pre and post workout shake usually anyway so if it's annoying I'll just stick with what I do anyway and maybe have more…

Thank you so much, nice to have a female respond too...when did you have it....30 mins before? I don't want it to kick in as I'm finishing lol that would be a nightmare!

BTW LOVE Bro Science!!!!!! : )

Thanks guys, a bit of reassurance is what I needed, I'm going for it! This amazon review was the thing that did it I suppose....my pt thinks I'll be hilarious on Preworkout! I'm hoping to smash my leg press pb today, I got to a weight that was tough but maybe with a little help and less fatigue I may be able to add another…

I personally love the gym.....but it's a new thing! I was slim to start with...maybe tooo slim and wanted to get bigger and stronger! I think girls are afraid of lifting weights because they think they'll get big and manly....which couldn't be further from the truth....you gain curves in the right places!!! I've gained 1…

Deadlifts/Presses/Dips/Pull ups and heavy squats! I can't squat yet...my form is off, I had knees going together (which is sorted) but my hips are causing me issues as I seem to have to lean too far forward.. although a lot better than it was and something I'm working on every Friday in leg day, I'm sure I'm not far off…

I don't believe that 'because I'll get fat' is a valid reason for not having kids! Because I don't have the time/extra love to share/money may be valid reasons - even although all of that slots naturally into place when they do arrive, you do have more love and the money thing just works out!! I've had two children 6 years…
-
I have problems with squats too....mine is more form though, my legs used to come together which we've sorted but now I need to make my hips more flexible so I don't lean too much...which my trainer is trying to sort out! I find it really frustrating a I can leg press 350kg for 6 reps so have really strong Legs/Glutes for…

I've just replied to another thread on this.....I didn't need to lose weight when I joined the gym 7 months ago....I've gained a stone but I've lost inches and am a lot less wobbly lol...remember muscle weighs more than fat on an inch by inch basis....it's a lot denser so you'll probably find that you're turning any fat…
-
Good morning! Ignoring weight how about size? Remember that muscle weighs more per square inch than fat...it's a lot denser. I didn't need to lose any weight but have gained a stone in muscle since joining the gym and lost inches on my waist/hips etc (and look a lot better and less wobbly) If you're building muscle then I…
