Good morning
This summer I finally hit my goal weight, was at 125!! All of a sudden last month, the weight started to climb back on- I am now at 131 and I dread stepping on the scale, seems to increase every time I do. I do a mix of cardio/strength 6 days a week and a hour of Yoga on Sundays. I do my best to eat right, but I do not want to starve myself. I do not know if I need to lower my calorie intake or increase. - side note- I enjoy my glass or wine/beer so please do not tell me to cut the alcohol out... I know not good, but nice thing to have at the end of the day.
Please help- I don't know what to do,

Good morning! Ignoring weight how about size? Remember that muscle weighs more per square inch than fat...it's a lot denser. I didn't need to lose any weight but have gained a stone in muscle since joining the gym and lost inches on my waist/hips etc (and look a lot better and less wobbly)
If you're building muscle then I don't believe that weight is relevant....it's all about how you look and feel!
I hope this helps....and as for the beer and wine, you have to reward yourself every now and then!!!0 -
Seem to be ok, but getting a little snug again- seems like it is all in my stomach??? I just do not understand why in a month it is creeping up again, very frustrating. My arms and legs - I can see the change, just don't know why my stomach is starting to expand. I drink about 2 1/2 liters of water a day as well...........0

How many calories are you eating a day? Open your diary so people can see what's up.0

Has your food been rich in sodium lately?
Has your period been causing you any issues - unusual heavy flow, unusual moodswings, do you usually retain water or nothing at all?
Have your bowel movements been consistent? We can hold up to 7lbs of food waste, so not using the bathroom frequently can cause an excess of weight.
Do you weigh daily or weekly?
Keep in mind that no body can stay perfectly consistent. You WILL fluctuate a lot on your maintenance, and as long as you don't eat 3500 calories past maintenance your weight will not be pounds of fat flying on.0 -
Hey New Hampshire! Grew up in Merrimack.
Your diary looks good - although you are pretty low on your net most days you work out/run.
My advice would be to get a tape measure and take measurements. Put your scale in the closet for a while. WIth the lifting and solid diet, I would venture to guess you are not gaining fat, but putting on muscle.
I read this blog a while ago and it talks about lifting but still getting smaller. Give it a read.

Could be you need to make some adjustments to food, and it could be muscle, but another thing to consider is that there may be something medically going on. If you haven't had your bloodwork checked, get it done. I spent the last year feeling like I was banging my head against the wall because I was working out 8 hours a week (moderate to high intensity) eating right (I was even on a meal plan from a registered dietician) and I GAINED 37 lbs in a year.
I went to an endocrinologist because all my bloodwork was coming out normal, she tested every blessed hormone in my person and discovered that I am in the early stages of hypothyroidism (she knows because she had my lab results from April for my annual physical and a TSH test that my allergist did in June which were both normal and her TSH result that was high, so I can maintain it most of the time) and my c-peptide was high which indicates insulin resistance. I'm on medication for both and I'm starting to see results.
Best of luck0 -
Just had my yearly physical with all the blood work done- all looks good. Spoke to my doctor but of course he did not want to discuss it since I am not overweight, said I was fine. I know I am not huge, what my concern is why am I gaining. I might do the measurements- maybe it will calm me down a bit.........
I do try to weight daily- use the Wii fit as well as normal scale. I have been trying to eat foods lower in sodium- menstrual issues not a problem-
so do i keep calories the same? or lower?0 -
The first 4 pounds is just your muscles filling back up with glycogen & water ready for 'maintenance' mode. so it's probably more like 2 pounds.
Agree with the advice about getting smaller, but not lighter. Tape measure comes in handy here.
Good luck! x0
