Ladies....recommendations for lifting gloves

Hi all, I'm just about to buy new lifting gloves as I mine have holes in them...any recommendations?? My current one's are Nike and although they were good to start with they were nowhere near tough enough.....I'd rather they were black too if possible!

Many thanks

I prefer Harbinger. I use a small pair of men's gloves that are black and have the wrist wrap for added support. Best bet is to go to a sporting goods store and try out different gloves to find what suits you.

I got mine from Scheels they are Harbinger brand. I like them because there isn't too much to where it feels like you can't grip the weights. But it took me awhile to find a pair I really liked.

Really anything will do, nothing special about ladies v. guys...

One thing I will say though, is to buy them in person. I just use Valeo gloves from Sports Authority. They work fine, for me though the quality could be better (been using them for about a year though, just fraying a bit.... but they were $20).

  • Thank you all!!!! I've seen a couple of pairs of Harbinger gloves so with your recommendations I will go with that! I don't have any decent sports shops around here that sell gloves (apart from the nike gloves I had before) everything has to be done online!

My callouses are awful at the moment, been lifting without gloves for a couple of weeks and I drew blood last week (which I was very proud of) ......but not a great look (I am being vain but if I'm trying to make my body look amazing then my hands should surely follow suit haha) my trainer looked at my hands on my last session and grimaced...his are baby smooth lol!

Just out of interest are some bars/weights/machines kinder to hands then others? I went with my husband to his gym last week and it ripped my hands to shreds (or maybe I was just being super competitive haha)

I wear Harbinger FlexFit gloves. I have bony, arthritic hands that bruise easily under the bar. The FlexFit are a minimalistic glove, with just enough padding to make it tolerable, without messing up my grip too much.

These are the one's I wear:

You don't need gloves- you need to invest in a pumice stone.

I agree about the pumice stone. I wear gloves and still got calluses on my hands. Got a pumice stone and do it in the shower and voila no more calluses. (Pumice stone cost $1.50)

Cocoa butter has ALWAYS helped smooth my hands after a lifting session & my callouses have gotten pretty gnarly at times; although, I have never drawn blood. I have a pair of lifting gloves that look "pretty," but I feel like they impede my grip rather than improve it, so I've stopped wearing them.

I've tried every pair of gloves & by far the best gloves are the Versa Grip Pro . Really worth the price !!
  • I've been trying to get away from wearing cloves however for my heavier lifts I am thinking of getting the versa grips gloves with the straps. I have Harbinger straps but they're a PITA to use. I saw a guy at the gym using the versa grips and they looked wicked easy.

I have these in a women's size small, and they are quite loose on me. Are they supposed to fit tightly in the fingers? Or does it not matter?

Any suggestions for gloves for very small hands.

This post is from November and I bumped it rather than ask in the forums, since it's not that old. But, the op probably already got gloves. And I understand a lot of people will say not to use gloves. I lift at home, in my living room, and have children, so I'm not going to use chalk.

I prefer nothing...I can't grip properly in gloves, and they normally pinch my skin!
