Buy two books:
1. New Rules of Lifting for Women--Read everything up until it outlines the actual program (workout and diet...ignore that)
2. Starting Strength--Read cover to cover and use this program.

I would really recommend investing in a trainer for your first couple of sessions to show you good form and get you set up/comfortable with exercises and lifting!
However if you are unable to do that, I use the fitness buddy app to look up exercises for certain areas if I'm struggling to think of a workout and put my own together. I usually do one bodypart a time (I go to the gym 5-6 times a week) so will do arms one day, back the next, legs, chest and shoulders on the others!
Always warm up with light weights and gradually work up til you know what your limits are (something that feels light to start off with may not be so after a few reps!)
I love it, I haven't looked back since I picked up my first barbell/dumbbells and still use my trainer 2-3 times a week as he pushes me more (especially for leg day!)0 -
