fitness increasing but no weight loss... help!

so i've been dieting for 6 weeks now, i have lost a bit of a weight but now im stuck at 9 stone and it just will not budge! my exercise has been great and I can feel myself getting fitter and I'm losing inches however everytime I go on the scales it just doesnt go down! I was wondering if anyone can advise me on where i am potentially going wrong? or if anyone has any tips to lose the last few pounds? thank you :)

    2 things come to mind.

    1) Your calorie intake and burn rate may need to be scrutinized.

    2) Your body is initially going through a recomposition which also includes some water retention from repair and losing inches generally is an indication of that happening.

you're getting fitter - yay great for your health
you're losing inches - yay you're losing bodyfat and getting smaller

but you are more interested in a number that means nothing? forget about the scales and keep doing what you're doing!

Just watch what you eat and stick with it. If you feel that your work out is becoming easier, bump it up. But mainly watch what you are eating vs what you are burning.
  • I've just replied to another thread on this.....I didn't need to lose weight when I joined the gym 7 months ago....I've gained a stone but I've lost inches and am a lot less wobbly lol...remember muscle weighs more than fat on an inch by inch basis....it's a lot denser so you'll probably find that you're turning any fat you had into muscle which will weigh more and take up less space (if that makes sense?)

That said I do mostly lifting and next to no cardio...I hope this helps you not feel down about it - go by inches and not weight :)

  • hey thank you guys so much for the motivation! I guess i can get a bit too obsessed over the scales, which you are right in terms of how I look and feel it shouldnt matter at all! I am going to stop weighing myself for a while, pump up the exercise a bit and go from there! :)

It's hard to say what it can be until we get more details.

What is your height, weight, age and workout routine? Also, can you open your diary? Do you measure and weigh your foods?

    Things that I generally see

    1. Under eating
    2. Mis-measuring foods which causes you to under estimate calories.

Also, you may want to start taking measurements(waist, biceps, chest, thighs, etc) in addition to weighing; not as often, but having another diagnostics can be helpful.
