  • It depends on how much you have to lose, and how much you started at. If you are really overweight (like I am), then I had to lose 50lb before people started to notice I am aiming to lose 140lb in total, but I know that for the first 80lb I will still look "fat", when I get over 80lb I'll start to look thin and every pound…
  • I used to burn 6500-7000cals per day when I was playing professional sport. I weighed 18.5 stone (15% fat), 6ft1, ran for 45 mins every morning, weight trained 5 hours per week, and did intensive rugby training for 3hours over 5 days (2 of wich were match days). It was calculated that I would burn around 2100cal per match…
  • Great Job- real inspiration for me. I'm aiming for about the same weight loss (although I don't have a specific target in mind), so seeing this is really good for me- thanks for sharing the photos and text.
  • Went to Hotel Chocolat (a very VERY tasty UK chocolate shop) to buy chocs for the wife, and DIDN'T eat one of the free chocs from the tray they shoved under my nose, even when they asked Twice. Very pleased with myself
  • I've been on 1000 cals per day for 3 months (under doctor supervision) and have lost 62lb. I'm using it to shift enough weight so I can exercise without putting strain on my joints (although I do walk the dog and work in the garden so I am physically exercising). I feel great- am in ketosis, but have plenty of energy and…
  • I was 350 and b'1 when I started. I'm on a VLCD out of choice BUT a couple of years ago I lost a lot of weight by sticking to 2200cals and doing 1 hour of exercise 3 times per week. Happily lost 2-3lb for 4 months. my BMR was professionally calculated at 3300cals- a bit of exercise shoots that right up. One silver lining…
  • HI All, Am from Newbury (Hants/Berks Border), and just starting to get to grips with MFP- anyone welcome to add me- always happy to try and motivate others thanks, James
  • Are you weighing yourself in the same way? I way myself every Friday morning, before breakfast and having been tot he bathroom. Take 3 readings over 2 minutes and average them Test your scales with a known weight- ie a 5kg dumbbell and see if its accurate. Don't worry about what you ACTUALLY weigh, be pleased with the…
  • Fannypack The first part has a very very different meaning in England!
  • That's brilliant- a real inspiration You've gone from looking like a really old guys to fit young one. interestingly your dastar really accentuates the difference in your face- the ratio of headdress to face has really changed. Hope I can get there too!
  • Understood- expecting to be dropping some LMB, but hopefully not too much (although to be honest I wouldn't be unhappy to lose some as long as I lose a LOT of fat). One I get to 290ish i'll come off the VLCD and go onto a more normal eating regime, but increase the exercise level- I just wanted to lose a big chunk of…
  • thanks for this- agree its not a constant, and certainly will keep that in mind. Know that when I really start training with weights (when I get back to 290lb- when my diet will change too) and cardio that my weight loss will probably stall, although the fat loss will continue. Its what usually happens for me!
  • 320lb, it was in a displacement tank, so should be pretty accurate. There was a back up impedence test too, just to make sure. Also had full tests for everything else too (ie VoMax, full body test etc etc).
  • Thanks for this- very helpful. Not using it as a motivator (that's coming from body size, and cardio ability, as well as strength training. This was becoming more of a Demotivator that I wanted to remove, as I know I can't get into a healthy BMI range, and I wouldn't want to try as that would mean I lost all the muscle…
  • To be clear, at 218lb when I would be zero % fat, I would have a BMI of 29.6, which is just a shade away from Clinically obese. Its probably that I've lost more muscle since my last test (say another 10lb), but I have no idea what a "normal" range would be for me. Most of the muscle mass is in my legs and torso. for…
  • I'm 6ft 1 At the moment I don't really know how big the mountain i'm climbing is, and its a bit dispirting. I will keep going no matter what, but I like to set myself goals (current goal is to get under 300lb, and i'm creepin ever closer)- but I would like to know what a "normal" weight could be. BMI unfortunately doesn't…
  • My first NSV is an odd one. It was my baby daughters first birthday party last weekend and I catered for 40 people- home made BBQ and it was GOOD. My NSV is that even though I fell of my diet plan on the party day, I still controlled myself, and at my weigh in this morning I had still lost 2lb this (at the moment i'm on a…
  • I lost 24lb in 2 weeks within the last month. It helps if you weight 360lb to start with, have a basic metabolic need of 3,200 calories, are capable and comfortable exercising, and get setup a calorie deficit of over 2,500cals per day. However of the 24lb I lost, around 8lb is probably water, the balance was probably due…
  • I lost 21lb in two weeks which was a surprise....
