My bra fits better. Then my jeans. Then my shirts. Everyone is different. I take measurements with a tape measure- waist, abd, arms, hips, thigh, calves. I can always tell a 5# loss with my clothes, but I don't have much to lose and my clothes are pretty tight with that spandex/whatever material that is used in the jeans…

I'm 5'2" and am 134 aiming for 120-124. I would imagine you look great. When I was at 121 a couple of years ago I still had fat around my belly but decided I was a good weight- for me. That, and I didn't want to have to go down a size in pants!

I started feeding the homeless a few years ago. I'd ask a person how they were, and they'd answer "fine". I gave the food and coffee and went to the next person. My friend would be feeding the same group and tell me their "stories". What was going on in their lives, whether they had kids or what job they used to have, and…

Nice!

I also added in a new activity and have maintained for a month with little scale movement. Up a little, down a little, up a little, and so on. With the extra exercise I'm a little hungrier and think I'm eating a little more. But, my clothes fit better and I feel great. I'm going to try to drop a pound this week- and keep…

I love wine, so don't drink much of it unless I fit it into my calories. I drink 2-3 oz of scotch a few nights a week. I don't drink enough to get the munchies with scotch since I don't like it as much as wine, and seldom drink "too much".

Welcome back. Third time for me after gaining back 23# in 6 months after I reached goal weight. I'm doing a much slower weight loss journey and if I plateau for a month, no sweat. That's maintenance. I've worked a lot on learning what maintenance and this journey is all about, for me.

I think I'd have a lot more fun going to the gym than doing papers and reviewing literature! You've discovered a new hobby. I often complain that my job interferes with my hobbies. Just work on the balance, since you need to do your graduate work!

When I want to binge eat it's usually at night. If I don't have the yummy food around, I refuse to go buy it. If I have some left over food around, fattening, yummy foods, I can guarantee that it will NOT get eaten in moderation. It sucks. I wish I could have ONE piece of candy. My solution, not to have it around and not…

Read the success threads. They are very motivational. Take it one day at a time. When you "blow it" just dust yourself off and start afresh the next day. This is a looong journey!

I did that. Got to goal weight in 10 weeks and lost 20 pounds. But, I managed to pick up every cold that was around and usually I'm never sick. I was hungry the whole time, and I gained it all back plus some once I'd "made it". I'm working on a slower and more sustainable for forever approach this time around. Losing…

I am practicing trying to eat smaller portions of my favorite junk foods. I'm eating a half a cookie instead of a whole one. Then when I go back for seconds, it's just one cookie. I log it, even if I go over. Sunday is my worst day, and I try not to go more than a few hundred calories over. I can't bank calories at 1200 a…

30 pounds is fantastic. Sometimes I look around the store I'm in and see people heavier than me and use that to remind myself of either where I came from or where I don't want to end up. Because any one of us could be morbidly obese with just a little extra food over a few years. You're doing great!! Way to fight to take…

13 pounds down and 8 to go. Trying not to lose "too fast" to avoid binge eating.

When I have a day like that I try to remember how the candy tasted. Did I like it or just inhale? If I ate a few then inhale I try to remind myself that it wasn't worth it and wasn't great. I also tell myself to get back on track the next day. We've all been there, many times. How you handle this event is how you learn how…

I'm here also to lose about 20 pounds for the umpteenth time. My third time on MFP and I'm finally learning that the work never ends. I lost ten pounds then in the past month I've gained a pound. Not bad as that is called "maintenance". I'm now ready to work on the rest and if I need more maintenance practice I'll do that.…

I try to remember, daily, that just because food is free (at work, party, etc), or just because it's a gift, I don't need to eat it. If I wouldn't buy it for myself, then why eat it? That takes practice, but "free" food is my weak spot and I need to work on learning to just saying "no thanks" to. If it's a healthy dinner,…

Thanks for taking the time to post that. I really needed to get that reminder at just this point on my journey!

Hey there. I'm 62 and have been "maintaining" in a 20# range for many years. I have 10# to go to get to my real maintenance range. Just so you know, you started a new thread, rather than posting in the serial starters thread.

It took me years to discover the community forum so good for you! Give and get support here, but also get some friends and support them as well. I delete a friend after a month or two of inactivity, and have found I can only keep up with about 40. But I love my wall and the support I give and get from there as well as…

I have 9-10 pounds to lose as well. It's very easy to not stick with it at this point. I look "fine". I just want to weigh what I used to weigh. What I do wrong is assume I know the calories in the foods I eat pretty well, and and I also assume I can slip just a little. That's my reason for being "stuck". Pretend you have…

I get that when I add in ab work outs.

Illness is never a good reason for losing weight. I'm sorry you had to hear that.

I'm 62. You can do this. I used to jog, then developed foot problems so took up stationary bike riding. My calories are set to 1200 and I eat back about half my exercise calories. When I stick to my calorie goal, I lose. When I eat more than 1200 I don't (plus half my exercise calories). You'll start to get a feel for your…

Hang in there and very nice job on the weight loss!!
-
It's my third time here too, and each time it seems harder to get started. My only advice is to just start- 5 min of exercise daily, logging at maintenance, something. Once I finally got started after a few weeks I got my mojo back. You CAN do this!
-
I don't know how you're at 1200 cal. I'm 5'2", weigh 134, and am 62 years old. I eat 1200 cal and half my exercise calories, to lose about a pound a week. If I get hungry I maintain for a few weeks, get my energy back, and continue the journey. You'll get there, as long as you don't give up. You don't need to exercise to…

How tall are you? How many pounds a week loss have you set it to? If you're satisfied with 50# a year loss you'll get to eat more and it will be sustainable. I doubt that self-induced misery will get you very far on this journey!! Slow and steady will get you where you want to be in a few years.

Something that's helped get me back on track in the past is when it hits me that I could just keep eating, and eating, and eating. I could weigh 500 pounds. The only reason I don't, is because I stop myself. I say "enough". It's time for you to do that. Because your 247 could be 297 next year. And 347 the following year.…

I've done many things in the past several decades to maintain my health. They haven't all been either "motivating" or "enjoyable". But what was very motivating to me was my commitment and determination to not being an over weight, out of shape adult. Look at your peer group. Look at the next generation up. Look at your…
