How I lost the “last 5 pounds”
I’m 63 yo, 5’2” and maintained at 129 for 8 months at 1200 cal as well as eating half my exercise calories back. But, I wanted to be in the 125 range. I was happy I figured out how to maintain, which involved very strict counting during the week and some sloppy counting over the weekends where nibble food seems to be…

Uh oh- it’s starting!
We now have a huge platter of Christmas candies and cookies ten feet from my desk. Yesterday it was homemade shortbread cookies and Godiva dark chocolates. Yikes! I’m eating a little and logging it. Three more weeks of free food at work. I love sweets. This is a tough time of year for me.

A first for me!
I did my first spin class tonight. It was hard but I got through it. I use a stationary bike at home 35 min every morning but I can't stand up when biking because it isn't sturdy enough. It's fun to have done something I never tried before!

Weight loss goals and calories- weird!
I'm 5'2", am 62, and weigh 133. I started at 145 and my goal is 125. I have MFP set for lightly active. I eat back most of my exercise calories. MFP says I should eat 1200 cal a day, whether I set it to a 2, 1 or 0.5 pound weight loss a week. That just seems very strange to me. Any ideas?

Rowing newbie
I bought a water rower today by First Degree. Since I can't jog anymore due to foot issues I got a stationary bike two years ago and ride for 35 min 4 days a week and do some dumb bell weights. I'm 62 and 5'2". I've always worked out and am in good shape and health. Are there any "must do's" to rowing? I had them check my…

Maintenance?
I hate to post this, but here goes. I've bounced around in my weight by 2# for the past 4 weeks from 122-124. I'm 123.8 and GW is 120. I was at 1200 calories (5'2" and 61 years) but upped from sedentary to slightly active a month ago and that put me at 1260 calories. I've been strict on my logging and am at my calorie…

iFit- how do I get it to work.
I have a Nordic Track stationary bike- gx 2.7 which is iFit compatible. I bought 2 years of iFit from the iFit website but don't know to synch my created bike routes to my bike. I wrote customer support 4x in the past two weeks asking them if I need to also buy a module or wasn't that included. No reply. I'm getting ready…

Replacement for lunge and burpee
I have a painful foot, a bunion, for 3 months now. I can't bend my left foot, as in the back foot position for a lunge and in the foot position for a push up. I do 1 legged push ups but don't want to put that stress on my other foot for a burpee. Any alternatives to the burgee for the core? I'm doing the Bulgarian lunge on…

Why eat free junk food that I'd never buy???!
As I'm battling another challenging week of yummy candy and cookies at work I wonder at the psychology behind eating food that was gifted. I would never even be tempted to buy this candy, or make/ buy the cookies. So why do I find it so difficult to not eat them? Why is free good more tempting? Why have I gained 2 pounds…

Thanks MFP team!!!
I'm sorry you guys had to work on Christmas but many of us are thrilled to have our timelines back on this big holiday. Thank you all for working overtime for "just an ap". To many of us, it's much more important than that and you guys and gals came through big time today.

Stationary bike calorie burn?
I biked 4.5 miles in 20 min this am on my new Nordic Track upright bike. It was the Central Park route with speed of 12 and resistance up to 18. My Polar H7 said I burned 81 calories. I'm new to biking and found it a moderate workout (am 5'2" and 125#). Do you think the Polar is pretty accurate to use as my calorie guide?…

Turf toe and replacement exercises
My doctor diagnosed turf toe last week and I see a podiatrist next week. In the meantime I can't hyper extend the toe, as in a push off position. I can do one legged push ups, but have put in Bulgarian lunges for regular lunges. Any other ideas out there to substitute for burpees, lunges, planks, etc. I don't want to do…

1200 Calorie Minimum?
I've read about this for months. I'm 60 and 5'2" and chose 1100 calories. I fought for rvery pound of loss (about 5#) for 6 weeks. Logged everything with no cheating. Finally I upped my calories to 1200 2 weeks ago and have lost 2 1/2 pounds. I figured that less calories would equal more weight loss. I'm finding it much…

Polar HR monitor not working right
I have a new monitor and use the soft chest strap. I've used it for 6 weeks but the other day it was reading my HR in the 60's. I put a new battery in it and ran on my treadmill and it wasn't close. In the 60's when the treadmill said I 140. Is it time to return it? It's the FT4 I think, that doesn't need the chest strap…

Mission Accomplished......or is it?
As I close in on my goal weight with only 6-7 pounds to go, I'm starting to get excited, that I'm about done. But, am I? Isn't this what I did almost two years ago, when I reached my goal weight? That didn't turn out so well. So, as many of us get close to our goal weights, I'd encourage us all to not think we're done,…
