How To Get Started Again

At 18 yrs old I weighed about 215lbs, but to join the Army I had to lose weight. In about 4-5 months I went from 215lbs to 143lbs and I was able to join the military. I went from being a food junkie to a workout junkie. I was able to maintain my weight until I got pregnant, during my pregnancy I gain about 60lbs. Again I was able to lose weight because of being in the military. Here's where everything takes a turn. I got out of the military in 2014 weighing 173lbs, now my weight is at 247lbs. I know how to lose weight and I know how to eat healthy, I'm just having a hard time getting started and actually sticking with it. What do I do?

Just like you did in the past start from the beginning. Figure out calories you need to eat and exercise.

I've done the whole yo-yo thing to. I eat great when I'm on a diet. But when I'm at goal I eat whatever I want, so of course.....the weight comes back.

Figure out what you can change FOREVER. Don't eliminate anything, don't do extreme exercise.....find moderate changes. Find forever changes. Being a fitness junkie short term.....helps short term.

I started out adding veggies. I like veggies, but when I'm eating whatever.....I tend to skip the veggies. The problem with that is low calorie (high volume veggies) are filling. So I end up eating a bunch more needless (un-filling) calories instead.

Exercise - I started out with a measly 60 minute goal per per week. Enough to get me started, enough to start building consistency and fitness. Write it on a calendar, stay accountable. When that becomes "normal" add more minutes. Find a place.....find an activity that you can see doing for a long time.

Something that's helped get me back on track in the past is when it hits me that I could just keep eating, and eating, and eating. I could weigh 500 pounds. The only reason I don't, is because I stop myself. I say "enough". It's time for you to do that. Because your 247 could be 297 next year. And 347 the following year. You know what being in shape is all about. Time to get your *** in gear. You've got this!
