thank you :) I think I'll go back to 2k and see how I get on - I'm just so scared I'll start to gain again.
-
Well "starvation mode" is never really something I've believed in - which is why I cut my calories. I've tightened up my logging.
-
thank you very much. I probably do exercise more, and I do sometimes have a couple of drinks at a weekend. Thanks for the hot weather link, I was wondering about that earlier actually!
-
just to update on this - I tapered slowly off these and I am now losing weight steadily with a calorie-controlled diet :)
-
thank you very much everyone :) I think you're right about NEAT etc. I'm not that bothered about only losing 1lb, although I would prefer to lose 2lb a week - I am quite heavy, obese according to my BMI. It's just that I'm doing exactly what, in the past, would have given me that water weight loss, then 2lb a week loss,…
-
I completely understand as I feel a similar way, I have more to lose than you but I am worried about becoming obsessed again and falling back into my old bad habits. I also hate all the "fitspiration" and the fact people think they have a right to comment on your body.
-
thanks everyone - I am mega stressed with lots of things with work, family and wedding right now!!! MFP and calorie counting have always worked for me in the past but this time around, when I am so heavy the weight should be dropping off me, it hasn't. So it is quite frustrating. But I don't want the awful side effects!
-
sorry just looked that up and seen Orlistat/Alli are the same thing!! xx
-
It's Orlistat that they prescribe - yeah I am worried about the side effects. I have been exercising and eating well though and not seeing results. Thank you xx
-
Thanks guys - I have also reduced my calories so this could be having an effect? I don't know really!
-
Thanks guys :) I tried getting up to some yoga which often helps but it hasn't! I guess it probably is a coincidence, I am getting married in August and maybe that's stressing me out as it suddenly seems very close! (Although I'm mega excited about getting married of course - there's lots to do!)
-
I've just joined SW feel free to add me :)
-
sorry just ignore me!! Realised Garmin do have bluetooth..
-
thanks everyone I think that therapy is something I might need to look into.
-
He really is and we found out last week that he does it at all for free in exchange for some of his races being paid for and things like that! I think I'd have given up long ago without the coach and the group, I'd definitely recommend them to anyone.
-
I went out running once with someone who is "ahead" of me and wanted to go further and faster than I did, but now I've found a group of people at similar levels and we go out together
-
I'm not really bothered about speed/distance at this stage - just going out and saying I'll do a 30 min or 40 min walk/run today. Our coach said it's not really about speed or how far you can go now, it's just about getting the miles on your legs.
-
thanks everyone - I definitely won't be racing them, just running them for the enjoyment and keeping at my own pace, although I would like to see my speed increase by the last one! That's a good point about the sponsorship - I think I just didn't want to keep annoying people by asking for sponsorship each month - but I…
-
well done!! What a difference
-
thank you - I've had the opposite problem, there are regular 5k park runs about 40 min drive away from me and they have 5ks in the nearest city sometimes but it's pretty rare for me to find a local 5k!
-
Thanks :) I am definitely going to build up slowly!
-
thank you so much. Runningkel I currently run 3x a week and I do think a lot of it was just psychological - I "couldn't" do it.
-
I know what you mean - for the 5k I'm doing I chose a small local charity who have helped me personally, so I hope I've raised awareness for them and will raise some money that may not be much but will seem a lot for them as they are smaller. But yes I can see your logic
-
It so is! I've been spending so long thinking "I can't run" then when I started "I'm bad at running" but just someone telling me I can do it, and the girls in the group pushing me on, has been so helpful
-
guess what - I did it!! My trainer told me I should be running 20 mins non-stop and yesterday I ran 20 mins non-stop and ran most of the way back!!!
-
thank you @jaga13 - it's hard seeing everyone else run off ahead of me but I have to remember that we all start at different stages and they were probably fitter than me when they started. @misterwendy - when you go for running shoes at a decent sports shop they do a "gait analysis" where they analyse the way you run and…
-
yeah it's a walk/run programme that I do, I tend to challenge myself to say, run to the next lamppost before stopping. And I've really been working on shortening my stride. I do enjoy it especially the buzz afterwards, I just feel like I should be better!
-
@erockem - no in a good way!! I have one of those wrist things that I put my phone in and run MapMyRun on it - I guess I could always use that to get me home I never even thought of that! We just run until we can't then we walk!
-
Thank you so so so much everyone - you've really given me a boost today. @erockem your post made me a bit emotional! I am definitely trying to cut my weight down (of course, which is why I'm here!!) and hopefully that will help.
-
that lacing link is great, thank you - I have a high arch so I'll try that one out!
