More running questions - sorry! Should I be pushing harder and if so how?

thank you so much. Runningkel I currently run 3x a week and I do think a lot of it was just psychological - I "couldn't" do it.0

Try and dial back to a consistent amount of distance. You're pumped up and motivated which is fantastic, but running miles and miles like a wild gazelle doesn't happen over night
You'll start to feel much more comfortable once you start building/conditioning your muscles and breathing, etc. Then try and move up no more then 10% of your current distance for a bit. Running "coaches" are great people, but not all people are the same!

I am definitely going to build up slowly!

Totally agree, this will save you from injury. Injury in my case = disappointment and anxiety.
I run 3x and walk 1x a week. Heading out in the next 10 minutes coincidentally.
Tuesday & Thursday 3~6 mile run depending on how 'things feel'; weather, body, etc.
Friday 1-3 mile walk
Sunday long run day, 4~13 mile run @ a slower pace than Tu/Th, this is for endurance not speed.
Sunday used to be the 10% rule when I started to get me to 26.2. Now it's how I feel again, weather, etc.

I'm not really bothered about speed/distance at this stage - just going out and saying I'll do a 30 min or 40 min walk/run today. Our coach said it's not really about speed or how far you can go now, it's just about getting the miles on your legs.0

I went out running once with someone who is "ahead" of me and wanted to go further and faster than I did, but now I've found a group of people at similar levels and we go out together0

Your coach sounds great!0

He really is and we found out last week that he does it at all for free in exchange for some of his races being paid for and things like that!
I think I'd have given up long ago without the coach and the group, I'd definitely recommend them to anyone.0 -

the most useful think I learnt about running is that its 99% in your head
That is so true0
