this was about 5 months ago.... I need to take updated pics, but I'm waiting to drop down to my goal size before posting my full "success story" ;)

I'm a single parent of a 6 yr old in 1st grade. He gets a homework packet (4 pages front and back) of math/sentence structure/spelling to complete in a week, 1 page front/back of g/t homework 2x a week and is "encouraged" to read at home. He's in after-school care at the Y everyday until 6. Luckily, he loves it there and…

this is my gift to myself when i cross the finish line and get to my goal size: I plan on adding in a little more plum tones to mine...

2nd recommendation for Strong Curves by Bret Contreras

in one session... basically, break it down into sets if you have to (ie: 4 sets of 50) with a brief (1-2 min) break in-between sets, but don't spread them out throughout the day. You can do it! And you'll feel awesome once you do :)

;) planning on it! *smile*

thank you :) I only lift heavy on the weekends since I'm a single mother (between work and getting home in time to do homework, feed and bathe my 6 year old, I really have no time to go to the gym while my child is awake) Saturday is my legs, glutes, abs and traps day. Sunday is my chest, shoulders, back and arms day... I…

thanks! thank you :) I wouldn't put it down to genetics, though. Losing weight in the past never gave me the amount of curves that I'm getting now.... my waistline was never as defined and my butt was not as perky. Lifting heavy has done wonders for my body recomposition. Through progressive loading, I've seen inches melt…

thanks to all of you! :)

thanks! thank you, will do! ;)

ha! I actually realized the same thing and tried to change it, but it was too late... thank you  thanks... you should really look into it. Lifting heavy has done wonders for me-physically and mentally. I am stronger in body and mind. seriously. good luck to you!

thanks, will do! ok... this is the CRAZY part. I've only lost 35 lbs, all of which was in the first 6 months, but have slowly gained 10 of it back in the past 6 months (suspecting hormonal bc issues for this, but not entirely sure just yet)... so my net loss is only 25 lbs. it. blows. my. mind... how much lifting heavy…

I hate the Ghostbusters!!!.. I hate 'em, I hate 'em I hate 'em ... In fact, I hate them so much that I personally baked/made all the below goodies for my son's 6 year old birthday :p

I started my weight loss journey in October of last year. 3 months later (January) I had the Mirena put in. From October to January, I lost 30 lbs From January to March, I lost 5 addtl lbs From March to now, I've gained 10 lbs I am actively counting calories (macros conscious) and lifting heavy. I get around 100 grams or…

I would disagree with the analysis of hand wraps given here. - All good wraps definitely do not require an extra person. Some do, but many styles can be done individually. Once a person is proficient at it, wrapping both hands takes about 5 minutes (yes, I've timed it, and I wrap my hands myself). I would not consider that…

fyi, I currently do 35 lbs kettlebell swings and will be upping the weight this weekend... I've never lost control of the kettlebell while wearing wraps.

these are the ones I have (because purple!): http://www.amazon.com/Elastic-Cotton-MMA-Handwraps-Pair/dp/B003U2QZEK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412779215&sr=8-1&keywords=hand+wraps+purple my SO (who started me on boxing and has extensive MA training) uses Everlast brand which can be found in any sporting goods store. I would…

When I started developing blisters, I used lifting gloves for a few months. I've since moved on to hand wraps (started learning how to box) and prefer those so much more. Even the smallest sized lifting gloves were too big for me. With the wraps, I can wrap my hands and wrists for support and protection to my liking.

bench: 70 (3x12) squat: 140 (3x8) deadlift: 175 (3x8) incline leg press: 505 (5x5) I've been lifting for a year this month, started on machines and moved to free weights in month 4-5

my before is me *almost* at my heaviest... the after is 3 months ago... I'll be doing my 1st year's worth of work at the end of the month.... calorie restriction/macros conscious and heavy lifting...
-

awesome job! congrats on persevering on and good luck at your marathon :)

absolutely agree... it can be discouraging in the immediate sense when an absolutely on target day doesn't manifest itself into a magically slimmer/more fit me...that's why I take monthly photos for progress reports. Day to day, I see little change in my body as I keep on keeping on with my lifestyle change, but when I do…

yay for you! you look so happy and vibrant. congrats :)

another vote for Bret Contreras and Strong Curves... once I incorporated exercises from the book into my lifting program, my booty and legs have really developed well... I need to find a good "before" side photo, but here are a couple of current ones...
