SezxyStef has a good point about logging. It might be helpful to make sure you are logging everything. Sometimes we eat more than we think and this could slow your weight loss. Also, it might be helpful to take another look at your TDEE. With your weight loss, you might want to adjust your calorie goals to account for your…

I like weighing daily because it will show my trends. I never freak out if the number is up so long as I stuck to my calorie goal.

Why can't she lose 10 pounds in 2 months in a healthy way if that's all she has to lose? This is an honest question, not snarky. I've never been 10 pounds from goal before, so I really don't know.

Wow... Why do so many posts devolve into diet bashing? Yes, there needs to be a calorie deficit to lose weight, but how one achieves this deficit will be unique to the individual. Now, to answer the OP... I haven't figured out yet what really works for me. In the past, I tried to restrict to 1200 calories a day and could…

I completely understand where you are coming from. It is the very same for me, but severe stress coupled with depression contributed to a 25 pound weight gain recently. Here's some things that have helped me in the past (from recommendations my therapist made): 1. Take 15 minutes every night to put some music on and dance.…

My opinion is that you don't take the food out of the log after you vomit it up. Having been banded for 7 years, you probably already know that you shouldn't have reflux with the band and that this is often a sign that your band is too tight (just like throwing up food is a sign you're too tight OR eating things that don't…

Ah, good point tsikkz... I generally don't get hunger cues until I feel physically sick. Then, I have a headache, nausea, dizziness, and sometimes panic. Sigh...

Thank you! I read a blog post where the writer said you can't get think by intuitive eating and that bothered me. I still want to be thin... But I also know that my extreme calorie counting and restricting sets me up for a binge cycle...

Kate Atkinson's Life After Life... I loved this book and would consider it one of the most interesting/enjoyable books I've read lately.

It's YA, but I LOVED The Giver by Lois Lowry. If you've seen the movie, don't be put off because there are some big differences. I liked The Hunger Games, but I only read the first book. I was surprised that I loved His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Nokik, but it was absolutely one of my favorite fantasy type books.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I have heard that genetics plays a big factor in whether you'll have extra skin (just like how some women never get stretch marks when they get pregnant). I also think that 2 other factors are the amount of weight loss and how quickly it comes off. This could be why people who have WLS and lose more…

I completely agree with weighing myself daily. Bear in mind, I don't have an eating disorder and I do this for the data and to keep myself on track. Since I dropped off the calorie counting and tracking wagon last year, I gained 2/3 of my weight loss back. (Ugh, but at least I got back on track before I gained it all back…

Ok, so maybe I'm being too sensitive, but I'm offended by this post. It doesn't sound like "bad parenting" to me. Her daughter has no weight problem. The OP said she has a healthy relationship with food. We don't know what the wise crack would have been, either. "Hey, save some for us!" or "Not until after dinner!" Who…

Like most everyone else, I've tried and failed every diet. The only thing that consistently works for me is calorie counting with moderate exercise. When I stop tracking my calories, I gain weight. This time around, I'm doing it for "life" not for a temporary weight loss. Yeah, yeah, everyone says that. What I mean is that…

You are a very fortunate man because your wife loves you just as you are. I think this is what every single person on the planet wants in a mate. You've got it! But, yes, it is sometimes so much easier to maintain motivation to lose weight and be healthy when there's an outside stimulus. For me, part of the reason I…

I'm in the same boat, only I gave away all my larger clothes and then gained a lot of weight back! Yes, this is why I'm always wearing yoga pants when I'm off work... Luckily, if you're smaller now, you can probably find a lot of good work appropriate clothes at Goodwill and consignment shops. I've always found it easier…

I think any person who has lost a significant amount of weight understands that we often don't see ourselves the way others see us. To me, I look the exact same no matter how much I weigh. The only difference, is that some clothes fit and others don't. I think the term for this is body dysmorphia. Confidence has to come…

Thank you. There is a real truth to "wanting to change" and "being ready to change."

So why not fit a daily treat into your calorie allotment, instead of getting rid of them all together (which will lead to a binge)? This is the problem. I wish I could be a person who can eat a small piece of dark chocolate every day and leave it at that. Instead, a little bit of sugar becomes an avalanche for me. The…

@ Precious Kitten: Thank you for the suggestion about Veggie Greens. I'll try that. I love the idea of everything in moderation. When I'm disciplined and motivated, I can do this. But... let me tell you a story about my brother. He went over a year without eating anything sweet, but one Christmas he had a chocolate covered…

LOL @ "did you know that you have a liver and kidneys?" Yes, I do. But, I do think probiotics and extra fiber would be a very good thing to aid in my digestive health. Even if I don't drink the shakes, I can't see a big downfall with that. The drink is nasty, but it has very few calories so I don't feel like I'm wasting…

Not anymore, but I really miss the Burgh!

Sigh... Where to begin... First of all, I'm biased in favor of divorce. I was in an unhappy marriage for 13 years and divorce was the best decision I ever made for me and for my daughter. But, I also know that no relationship is going to be perfect and no man is going to meet all of your needs. I'll give you the cliched…

This is exactly why I weigh myself every day (and I do believe that doing this is the main reason I've been able to stay focused and motivated). After 2 or three months, I put the graphs of my weight loss next to each other. You know what? The 2 or 3 pound gains were at the same time of every month. And then a few days…

I don't think it matters one little bit what she has going on in her personal life when it comes to her ability to be a good therapist. So what if she's divorced! Who the heck cares! As for the length of time in therapy... Shoot, I expect to be in therapy for the rest of my life. Therapy is a wonderful thing with the right…

My motto: Forgiveness doesn't change the past, but it sure changes the future! Yes, I have forgiven cheating... No, I don't hold any resentment. However, the dynamics of our relationship have changed significantly. I have zero tolerance for even the smallest lie or omission. Now, I have to say, had it been any other man…

High blood pressure... didn't motivate me. High cholesterol... didn't motivate me. Chest pains... didn't motivate me. Wearing a size 20... didn't motivate me. Huffing and puffing going up one flight of stairs... didn't motivate me. The two things that DID motivate me happened at the same time... a lupus diagnosis and being…

I have a Withings scale and I love it. I weigh myself daily and it automatically syncs with MFP. If I weigh myself several times in a row, it's the same.

I don't see anything wrong with "revenge fantasies." You know, the idea that you'll get yourself so darn happy, anyone who ever hurt you will look at you and think, "hey, she has her life together and is really happy!" Happiness is the best revenge!
