  • I weigh daily (I know it's a bad habit, but at least I don't do it multiple times a day anymore, lol!) and plan to do measurements before day 1 and after day 30. It's nice to see a change over thirty days! Last time I took pictures, too, but I am not sure I will this time. Are you guys doing any other workouts? I just…
  • I'm starting today too! I did it last summer and had great results, but definitely need friends to stay motivated. Feel free to add me as a friend!
  • Well, there WAS that guy who ate nothing but 2000 calories of McDonalds a day for three months. He lost 37 pounds :D
  • Hi! I added you :) I'm a middle school English/history teacher and I coach varsity and MS cheer as well as running student council ... so I am ALWAYS busy!
  • It gets lots of airtime here, but I really love 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels. Easy and quick to do at home, but still challenging for a beginner. In 50 days (a cycle and a half of it) I lost 11 pounds and 8 inches in my living room. All I needed was access to youtube (it's posted on there!) and a couple of small…
  • Not ShootingStar, but I did it last summer - in 30 days, I lost about 8 pounds and several inches all over. I repeated it for an extra 20 days, alternating days 2 and 3, and in 50 days lost 12 pounds and (IIRC) 7.5-8 inches.
  • I started this morning, so I'm in! :)
  • Hi everyone! :), I'm a 25 year old middle school teacher and I am planning to start a second round of 30DS. I bought the DVD two years ago and repeatedly started and quit in a matter of days. This summer, though, I started the shred with a group on here and not only finished it but did an overtime round of 15 extra days,…
  • I love wax turnips (which are actually rutabagas), but I'm not a fan of the little purple and white turnips. Boiled and mashed, with milk, butter and a little nutmeg and wax turnips are delicious.
  • Same experience here - I teach, and probably 90% of my teaching wardrobe is from NY&Co. I am a 6/8 there now, but I routinely see sizes 12-16 on the shelves in both of their stores near me.
  • Who dismisses leeches? They're still used in modern medicine. They're particularly useful for skin grafts and for keeping reattached limbs viable, since they clear away blood pooling beneath grafts and produce an anticoagulant in their saliva.

  • I've been on multiple different brands/formulas of BC, and never noticed any weight gain. The only "weight gain" I experienced when I started the pill for the very first time was that my boobs got a little fuller.
  • I am literally married to Captain America. Major geek over here. ;) I would always love to have new friends!
  • I have always been a water drinking (15-20 glasses a day without trying). I am not a big soda drinker, but also don't drink any sugar-free beverages because aspartame triggers my migraines. I do agree with you on the carbonation, though - I love seltzer water and enjoy the bubbliness. Beer, on the other hand, is never…
  • Sorry, not even close. Those numbers are totally wacky.
  • I try really, really hard not to weigh myself more than once a week. I tend to do it on Saturday mornings. If I'm not strict with myself about weighing just once a week, I obsess over the number on the scale more and will end up weighing myself 5-6 times a day ... and end up miserable over totally normal daily…
  • Glad to see this! DH and I are going to an all inclusive for six days in August for our first wedding anniversary, and I fully intend to enjoy the fantastic food and drinks while I am there. We went to the same resort last summer for our honeymoon for ten nights, and despite the fact that I ate EVERYTHING and drank like a…
  • Could I lose more weight, more quickly, if I cut out wine and my utterly beloved craft beer? Yeah, probably. But it wouldn't be sustainable, since no way in heck am I giving that up forever. I work it into my calorie counts in moderation, I eat well and stay at a deficit. I'm seeing progress - not lightening quick…
  • Not a doctor, but I have extremely irregular periods. While mine are caused by a genetic bleeding disorder, I was looked at for a host of things to make sure the disorder wasn't keeping my doc from seeing any other underlying gyn issues, like cysts, fibroids, an infection, etc. See your gyn for an exam and start keeping…
  • My husband and I were laying in bed this morning watching TV, and he had a hand on my hip. All of a sudden he sort of squeezed my hip, looked at me and said "Where did these GO?" So I guess the difference is starting to become noticeable, even to a man! :D
  • What about tank tops with wider straps (more sleeveless blouses than tanks) with a cardigan on top? If you get open-body cardigans that don't button but are supposed to flutter or just don't button them shut, then the shape of them won't matter as much and you can size up to accommodate your arms. You could then wear cute,…
  • Sweet lord I love beer. Had Sierra Hoptimum yesterday, which was fabulous.

  • This is the first photo I am ever posting on here ... but I was just so damn excited this morning. I haven't worn these pants (a size 8) in two years, because they were just too damn tight. Today, I felt awesome in them. Even though I have only lost about a half pound and weigh 165, they fit perfectly and I felt awesome. I…
  • I don't cut any foods out, but most of our food tends to be pretty healthy just by the token that I cook from scratch every night and like vegetables. If you're new to cooking and want something geared toward being healthy/low fat/etc, look at skinnytaste.com. Her recipes tend to be really good.
  • I have this adorable pair of white capri pants that were just too tight - too much muffin top to wear with any cute tops. THEY FIT ME TODAY - WITH WIGGLE ROOM! I could even pull them away from my hips!
  • I was SORE the first 3-4 days. Like, hobbling up the stairs to my apartment, please-kill-me kind of sore. I found that pairing it with light (20 minutes?) of cardio like walking or the elliptical really helped keep my arms and legs from getting stiff. Still a bit sore, but good sore instead of agonizingly sore.
  • Thanks for the feedback, guys! I've seen so many posts where people are losing weight quickly, even just water weight at the beginning, that I was beginning to wonder if I was doing something wrong. For now, I think I will stick with MFP and eating back most of my exercise calories ... "earning" more always feels like an…
  • I am WAY too cheap to by a pitter and too lazy to do it with a knife. It's a good way to do it relatively quickly. I got the recipe from here: http://bakingthegoods.com/2014/07/03/cherry-bourbon-pie/. I made blueberry-red wine sauce and French vanilla ice cream to go with it, too :)
  • How long does this adjustment tend to take? I started 30DS 17 days ago. At first, I shot up 4-5 pounds. It's come down, but I am still a half pound or so above my starting weight. I AM losing inches, and feeling stronger/better, so I am sticking to it - but I am wondering if this lack of loss is normal or if I should be…
  • I like ricotta cheese on toast, with a little olive oil, or some quinoa with a little chili sauce or some garlic.
