  • Heya. I'm 5'10" and started my journey at 162 lbs. I bulked up to 167 with weight training and a lot of chicken breasts, cut down to 154, bulked up to 173 in a slow bulk over a year and a half, and am now cutting again, slowly losing about 2 lbs a month. I'm currently at 163, and aiming for 154 again. I'm now about the…
  • I weigh-in on Wednesday, but if I stay the same I'll have lost 2 pounds over the course of this challenge. And I can't really complain, since that's still weight loss, and still a victory in my book!
  • I'm a data nerd, so I just like having the data and comparing it to others to determine correlation/causation. I've a massive spreadsheet, where I track calories, macros, steps, weight, time of the month, etc. And a bunch of graphs that help compare data. Do I eat more carbs when my step count is high? Do I lose more…
  • Sooo, I haven't been consistently hitting my 7500 steps a day. But this past week was good, and I was rewarded on the scale today SO I'm just going to try to keep doing what I'm doing and hope that that drop on the scale wasn't water weight! * Log Everything * Lift weights 3 times a week * Hit 7000 steps a day * Walk on…
  • 3/8 | 7460 steps 3/9 | 9148 steps 3/10 | 11980 steps
  • Yessss, finally busted through my plateau with a meager but measurable loss of .2 lbs! Last week I really focused on getting my activity up, getting in at least 7,000 steps each day, and starting HIIT and jogs again. I'm so pleased to see that work rewarded with a 164 on the scale, after waffling between 165 and 167 all…
  • OK! Catching up with this. I've been trying to consistently get over 7000 steps everyday this past week. I think I'm going to shoot for over 7500 steps this week. 3/2 | 7068 steps 3/3 | 8254 steps 3/4 | 8814 steps 3/5 | 7178 steps 3/6 | 7467 steps 3/7 | 11760 steps
  • Goals for this week: 1. Try to eat mostly whole foods (maybe this will help satiety?), and increase vegetables 2. Do HIIT three times a week 3. Get at least 7000 steps every day 4. Don't snack on leftover Valentine's Day chocolate, lol
  • Oooh, normally I would just pass this challenge by. However, I actually hit my 1000 point goal on my Shine yesterday. The Shine points system basically comes out to 10 steps = 1 point, but it gives you more points for a faster pace. So running is more points than walking, even if they're equal steps. So, I'm gonna see how…
  • 1. Try not to get discouraged, disappointed, and lose motivation. There's no way I gained 3 pounds last week. 2. Try to eat mostly whole foods today. Maybe it'll help with my urge to snack on sweets if I use that 150 calories on a giant salad instead of Oreos, ha. 3. Get to bed early so I can wake up early tomorrow for a…

  • Yes, you're right! That must mean that people see flaws with the Non-GMO Project's process of validating foods then, yes? Or there is a desire to see a government organization tasked with GMO research (since Non-GMO Project is independent)?
  • Thank you for answering. So then, there is an issue with the USDA Organic certification label? It's not strict enough? Edited to add: What are the specific parts of the certification process that are lacking?
  • But people already have the USDA Organic certification label, which even Mercola agrees is "your best assurance of organic quality." The Food Babe also promotes the Non-GMO Project label because "they have a process for verifying whether products are non-GMO, and [she] feels that their label can be trusted." So, I don't…
  • I don't understand this. Since we're all likening this to Celiac disease anyway, let's go ahead and continue that comparison. We don't legally REQUIRE food companies to label their food as gluten-free. Having a gluten-free label is a selling point that those companies enjoy and use to market to those people avoiding…
  • Wondering if the OP ever fixed his form? I've been struggling with the same issue; I can't even get to parallel before my butt starts to tuck under. :frowning:
  • Hey everyone. This will be my second challenge, having just finished one that went from Thanksgiving 2015 to Valentine's Day 2016. My weight loss has been relatively slow, but seemingly steady enough. I can always use more motivation when the scale refuses to budge! I'm 26, female. I'm 5'10" so my current weight (165 lbs)…
  • Yeah, I did not bust through that 165 lb plateau, ha. But I lost about 6 pounds on this challenge, which is cool. And @lalajka thanks for that link! I enjoyed having this group, and will definitely join this new one!
  • We're pretty close as well. Height: 5'10" Age: 26 HW: 172 CW: 165 Body Fat %: 25 I'm shooting for 150 right now, but we'll see how I feel once I hit it!
  • I was pretty good all week (I think), but I'm showing a .4 gain. I mean, it is Shark Week so hopefully that has something to do with it. #annoyed
  • I was so close to creating this thread myself. But as a man you should really just ask, "What would Ron Swanson order?"
  • Posture is a good thing to remind myself of. I'm always trying to slouch and appear smaller than I am. Clearly that's not working, ha. And yes, resistance training is awesome and I'm currently doing Strong Lifts three times a week. It leaves me tired enough that I'd really have to force myself to do cardio, which is why…
  • Thank you. I know you're right, and it helps to read other people say it.
  • My comment was more of a remark about the disconnect between the high number of views it got vs. the low (zero when I posted it) number of comments it got, rather than a complaint about too many people people seeing it, but now that I read my comment again it certainly does read as the latter. Sorry for any confusion.…
  • I'm also not loving the feature on the mobile app that tells me how many people have looked at this. Before that, at least I could tell myself that no one clicked on my topics, ha.
  • Eeek, I missed this thread last week! I technically dropped .8 lbs this weigh-in, and am trying not to get discouraged with my average loss of about .5 a week. That's quite a bit slower than I would have wanted, and I'm trying to just stay positive about the fact that I'm losing at all. I COULD do more, but I don't really…
  • @lalajka This has also helped tremendously. In the first few weeks, when the weight is low, the idea is to really, REALLY nail your form, so I've been referring to this link pretty much every workout. https://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/comments/25fwnd/my_top_12_tips_for_stronglifts/
  • @lalajka I like it so far. I had been doing a split body routine, modified so that I could do it with dumbbells, but I stopped progressing on it a long time ago. I'm looking forward to getting stronger (even if I can't put on muscle during this deficit), and 5x5 is a great workout to do while cutting. I'm a decently…
  • ^^ I never get tired of that video. All science, no moral judgements.
