Just found this thread. Lot of great ideas. Crafts work well for me - hard to snack (and messy) when knitting or making jewelry. Scrap booking is great too as you don't want food around the paper!

I was told by several friends who cycle, that a too soft seat will only further increase the issue I'm having (I'll spare you the details). :-) Unfortunately, they are a size 4 or 6 so they can buy their bike shorts anywhere.

I substitute pasta with soy noodles (find them in the cold section of grocery store, near the organic or dairy free foods). I also make veggetti - spiral "noodles" from squash, zuke, or cucumber. I make my own basil and add that in the "noodles" with some shrimp. I don't see almonds on your allergen list - hopefully you…

I thought MFP does track potassium??? I thought I've seen it there before. I have problems with not enough potassium due to a few medications I take. Coconut water has a lot of potassium as does tomato paste. As for heart palpitations, do you mean a rapid heart beat or afib? I know when I get too low on water and/or…

I do try to drink coconut water even though I do not like it (always hated coconut). I have low potassium and can only eat so many bananas. Thankfully if I drink it quickly, I only grimace once at the end of the bottle. :-)

Love it! I will laugh today while exercising, thinking about the fat crying.

I could not get through all the responses as others were chiming in with their likes and dislikes. But have you tried different cooking styles? Fresh veggies taste so much better than canned veggies. I have a friend who thought she hated most veggies until she tried them raw or steamed or sautéed, and not canned like she…

Thank you for the feedback! I will just roll with it and remember I'm doing something great for myself :-)

Sent you and others on this board a request. I need to lose about 150 more pounds (down 45 already from Jan 1). Feel free to add me.

Hi - I just sent you a friend request. I started MFP right after Christmas. I do have a problem with my heart and I have to watch sodium. Like it was suggested by others, start tracking your food and then worry about sodium. I did that and have been able to reduce the sodium gradually (well, quickly reduced it once I…

I agree with Jester - if you did not eat that many calories before and put weight on, something could be wrong. But one thing I have learned over the past 46 years on this planet, with nearly all of them being overweight, is that I used to eat more than I thought I did. I would somehow "forget" snacks and only track the…

How exciting! Getting in shape for your wedding! I did it the other way around - I decided after I got married last Fall to lose weight. I wish I would have done so before. I would suggest tracking your calories on your binges. I track everything and at the end of the day, I review what I have eaten and see where I could…

Low cal and high protein - how about one half cup of lactaid cottage cheese has 12 gram of protein for only 80 calories - not sure about dairy cottage cheese

You may want to track your actual steps for "walking at a brisk pace". What I consider to be a brisk pace (just hit the 299 mark), is what most consider to be leisurly pace. Also, make sure to incorporate fat burning exercise - light weights is great but you need to burn calories too. And when you do start doing fat…

Hi - I use veggies a lot to fill me up. For breakfast, I ate a gluten free bagel with a little canadian bacon and made it a sandwich by adding fresh spinach/lettuce and tomato. The hungrier I am, the more lettuce I add...or an egg if I know lunch may be late. For lunch, I always bring veggies to suppliment my sandwich or…

Save calories early in the day. And make sure to work out for a few days before and after your dinner out. But most of all - enjoy it! If you deprive yourself all the time, you will lose your motivation. Go ahead and have something you like - just make sure to log the calories, even if that means going over. I knew that I…

Don't get discouraged! My weight loss came to a halt for about 10 days and then kicked in again. I reviewed everything I was doing - was I snacking on something that I did not track (yes, some times), was I really working out as hard as I thought I was (ie., working out in my target heart rate zone). While I'm not…

I don't know...but I do know that when I am on the treadmill for an hour, my hands get a little puffy but it goes down quickly. However, I do notice that my legs are less bloated over time now that I exercise an hour every day.
