  • 3rd time Mom here and I just went back to work a few weeks ago from my maternity leave. I found it extremely hard to lose (gained several pounds) on my maternity leave. For me, I need to get out every day where I pack and plan my meals and use my breaks to exercise. At home I could not seem to break my lazy habits of…
  • Don't give up - reassess your daily caloric intake vs. exercise. Sometimes you plateau for a bit because you are building muscle and then you will notice a weight drop. Some people measure their progress by inches lost as that can be a more reliable indicator of your progress.
  • Been on here a few years and looking to rejuvenate my friends list. Feel free to add me. I would love to get more Canadian friends as I am from Winnipeg, MB.
  • I am 17 weeks pregnant and due to morning sickness, was unable to eat much in my first trimester. I ended up not gaining first tri. During your first trimester you don't need to eat any additional calories - so stick to your maintenance numbers. My goal for second tri is to start putting on a pound a week as that will…
  • I don't use the concept of a cheat day either. I make better choices every day and if I'm wanting something, then I try to fit it in my calories for the day. If I can't make it fit, I log it and try again tomorrow. For example, I've had a nice slice of birthday cake for three days in a row and fit it into my calories. I…
  • I started out very similarly to you. I was size 14 and went down to a 9/10 last winter. While I felt great, my assets (literally my rear end and upper thighs) began to look flabby and loose. When I weighed more, I always liked that I had a full rear. The weight loss was intended for my thighs and belly mostly. At that…
  • Great opportunity to get active with your kids and teach them some healthy eating habits - welcome and good luck!
  • I like to have a drink or two in the evenings and I've had to leave extra calories for that time. Otherwise, I tell myself all day I won't have a drink tonight and I get home, change my mind and kick myself for going over. Usually a glass or two of wine for me.
  • Yes, it will make a noticeable difference! If you want it to help in your weight loss - just make sure you are eating under your calories for the day and don't eat back too many that you burn on your walk.
  • Congratulations on your success so far! Keep at it and you will reach your goal!
  • I started at 170lbs last year and got down to 150lbs last year. I'm 5'11 and weighed 135lbs in my pre-kids years. I have gone back up to 165lbs recently and I'm working my way down to 145ish. Let's do it!
  • What worked for me was drinking a smoothie once a day with berries. They are high in fiber and you get a lot in a smoothie. Good luck!
  • It can be hard to stay on track - I've experienced that myself and I still often struggle for a couple days but thankfully, I'm mustering the drive to just get up and do it. I literally have a moment in my head where I tell myself that I will regret it if I don't - just get up - just go - and I force myself to take that…
  • Smoothies are fantastic. Like KarenJanine mentioned - they will only assist if your weight loss if you make sure to fit them into your calorie intake for the day. I started drinking smoothies for breakfast last year and immediately noticed a change to my energy level, mood, bathroom habits and more! They really are…
  • I weigh in every 2 weeks or so. Doing it any more frequently gets me a little scale obsessed and I lose motivation if I don't see progress on the scale at times.
  • Almonds are delicious and are healthy! Not all healthy foods are low in calories. Moderation! I have a small handful when I'm short on calories. It can be hard to stop there though. lol
  • I said no to skipping my morning break workout of walking the stairs at work. Mental battle on that one every day but so far I'm winning. I also said no to a Bacon and Egg English muffin from McDonald's this morning. The reminder of how bloated I get after greasy food like that, the extra change in my pocket and subsequent…
  • I only had 2 beers available to me. Probably would have been more if there was more! lol
  • Active and open diary - add me!
  • I FAILED ON DAY 1. I had two beers last night with my hubby. I told him my plan and that the beers were all his. He said he was saving them for me. About an hour later I grabbed him a beer and one for myself. Then shortly after he brought me the last one. Gah...this was too ambitious for me but all I can do is laugh that I…
  • Winnipeg, MB. :)
  • First off - thank you for the encouragement. Second, help! lol Day one and we have half a dozen beers in the fridge. Been sitting there since the weekend and I completely forgot this challenge starts today. I'm really going to struggle to watch my hubby drink them solo. Once they are gone it will be easier but seeing them…
  • Welcome! You're already ahead of the game because you have a motivated and supportive husband with the same goals as you at home! Lean on each other and take this opportunity to build on your marriage. What a great chance to get closer with your husband while bettering yourself as individuals.
  • First suggestion to you is to keep healthy food selections at home that you enjoy. Welcome!
  • Welcome! I've had a moment similar to yours. Let that feeling be motivation to you when you feel like giving up. It's work but it's worth it - let's do this!
  • Good for you! Your goals are healthy and realistic - you're going to succeed. I find it is easy to make temporary changes to my eating habits but need to work on sustaining them. Let's lean on each other.
  • Hello there - your situation sounds like me! I too have been here before. I too have lost some but not all the weight I wanted and gained it back by too much rewarding. I'm also a 30 year old, working, mother of two and wife to a Texas-bred man that loves to eat. I definitely cannot get up any earlier - some days I have a…
  • Prairie born Canadian girl here - looking to find some active friends for motivation/support. Add me!
  • Winnipeg, MB. Been on here since early 2014 - always looking for more Canadian friends!
  • I'm in the same boat. I can do a great job logging and eating all day. I complete my food log and sitting on the couch around 8-9pm I just want something salty soooo bad. Sometimes I've been giving in to popcorn with butter flavour which isn't TOO bad but it's hard. I had ketchup chips last night that put me over. :(
