  • I've worked with women that have PCOS to help them lose weight. It does take longer due to PCOS so don't get frustrated. Keep taking those small steps each day and stay the course. The solutions that have shown successful in those I've worked with: high protein, low carb, normal fat intakes (no more than 130-145g of carbs…
  • Please provide science/facts/studies to back your claims 5iii. <9% body fat and I eat lots of fish, chicken, seafood etc. Science/studies have shown that we were created to eat protein, carbs AND fat. Yes the SAD is not good. But it is NOT the cause of someone being obese. It's the fact that people overeat and are not…
  • Carbs are not your enemy. Over eating is the enemy. Your body needs/wants carbs as they help regulate many of your bodies hormone levels. Just as protein and fat do as well. Eliminating or drastically reducing one macro group without medical reason is a fad at best.
  • Stay away from both. It's going to take hard work and dedication to nutrition, not a quick fix shake made with artificial crap. There is no magic pill/shake or secret. You have to learn how to eat right, at the right times and get your workouts in to hit the goals you are looking to achieve. Plus looking for a…
  • Wide grip I've maxed out at 22, last 2 knees came up some so can't count the last 2 based on your question, so technically 20. Chin ups 25. L-sit normal width forward grip pull ups 20.
  • Agree with others that you should STOP eating Rice Krispies twice a day. Replace it with some eggs, spinach, vegetables, carrots, apples, or something that will help you actually eat for a purpose. That purpose, to meet your goals and to stop taking you further away from them.
  • ^ You just answered your question. Your diary is not open for viewing, so can't see how much you are eating, what you are eating and your water intake. Based on the info you provided, up your food intake and see if that helps.
  • ^^This, great response. @jonnythan - Totally incorrect on your "assumption" of not caring about proper nutrition and short term results. Just as psulemon has stated, I also do nothing but BB programs for my workouts and I've dropped 77 pounds following their nutrition guide calculations for my calories (never once used MFP…
  • The best method is to get a good HRM. The "estimates" from websites based on your age, weight etc are probably going to overstate the burn. Drop the money on a good HRM to get a little more accurate count on the calories burned. If you are using the Insanity nutrition guide, you will NOT eat back your calories so logging…
  • That I'm Batman.
  • It all depends on you. What do you like best, cardio or lifting or a mixture of both? Both programs work and will help you drop weight and get in great shape. My recommendation is to do the one you like to do most. My personal opinion, I like both programs. I'm currently doing my 5th round of P90X and mixing in some P90X2.…
  • I started my 5th round on May 13th. Will be glad to help hold you accountable.
  • The amount of calories burned in MFP are not accurate, they are an average at best. Each person will burn a different amount of calories during each workout. For accuracy you would need to purchase a HRM and then manually put in your Exercise each day. Polar makes some good ones I've been told.
  • If you do the Insanity program, make sure you follow the nutrition guide. 2000 cals/day will more than likely not be enough. Calculate your cals based on the formula in the Nutrition guide. I just completed my 2nd round of Insanity and ate at 3000 cals/day. My goal was to stay the same weight but drop inches. Even eating…
  • I agree with Stacey. Though I would also say that everyone is different and depending on your fitness level, you could possibly squeeze in some other actual workouts, but Insanity truly is enough if you are just starting out or have never attempted it.
  • This ^ How can HCG still be around? I've got friends on Facebook who have done HCG and attempted CrossFit, P90X, Insanity, Tapout XT at the same time. I honestly was at a loss of words hearing them tell me. I asked who told them it was OK to do an extreme workout while only eating 500 cals a day and taking injections.…
  • Per the Insanity nutrition guide - Step 1 - Harris Benedict Equation for caloric needs: 655 + (4.35*137) + (4.7*67) - (4.7*28) = 1434.25 Step 2 - If you are doing Insanity then your activity level should be moderately active (1.55) to very active (1.7) 1434.25*1.55 = 2223.0875 (moderately active) 1434.25*1.7 = 2438.225…
  • That's actually not that bad. My wife and I have 3 kids. It's typically $200/week for our groceries. Though we've started buying in bulk for chicken, frozen veggies and other items (oatmeal, granola, eggs etc). That's saved us a lot of money especially when you wait for the sales and use coupons. The chicken we get lasts…
  • (Men) Caloric needs = 66 + (6.23 x weight in pounds) + (12.7 x height in inches) - (6.8 x age in years) (Women) Caloric needs = 655 + (4.35 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age in years) Caloric needs x 1.7 = Base doing Insanity If you want to lose weight do the following: Base doing Insanity - 500 =…
  • I don't have any of my Insanity pictures loaded on MFP. I dropped almost 10 pounds and multiple inches when I did my first round of Insanity over a year ago.
  • Insanity is a tough program and it's very rewarding. One of the key ingredients with Insanity is following the nutrition guide that it comes with. Calculate your calories using the formula shown and set your macros to what is recommended in the guide as well. These programs work and in 60 days you'll be grateful that you…
  • I'd stick with Insanity. Just follow the nutrition guide and workout guide. It works! There is no need to add more to it if this is your first time going through it. It's very intense and high impact. Come the 2nd month the intensity increases further.
  • www.truenutrition.com and mix your own with no sugar and use stevia as the sweetener. Less than a dollar a day for most of their custom blends and they taste great. I stay away from the ones mentioned above as they may have no sugar but they do have artificial sweeteners. Just my preference. I've used in the past pretty…
  • I use a vegan protein powder custom mix from www.truenutrition.com. You can choose your flavor and sweetener for it. I get the chocolate with stevia sweetener. It doesn't have a strong chocolate taste to it and there is no strong pea protein powder taste. Best part is, you can get a 30 day supply of a custom mix for less…
  • You don't have to join, there is a free account. However, as others have stated, there is no "Every person burns X amount doing the exact same workout." The best way is to get a heart rate monitor and use it. If you are looking at a number though, my guess is 200 calories depending on your weight, how fit you are, and the…
  • 12 to 16 cups for me daily. I have a 101 ounce bottle of water I get from the grocery store for $1. Then just keep refilling it for about 3 months (washing often). Goal each day is to drink it and then a 32 ounce bottle as well.
  • Go with the Insanity nutrition guide. It works! Or you can go at a lower caloric intake and possibly not have the energy to push nearly as hard during the workout. I made the mistake of going too low and I basically stalled out during the first 3-4 weeks. Then recalculated my calories during the recovery week and went with…
  • Guild Wars 2 here. Just canceled WoW to spend more time playing for free in Guild Wars 2. :)
