Hi everyone! My name is Stacey and I started running when I was 44 years old after being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. I am now 45 and have completed 2 half marathons and many 5ks, and I am currently in training for a full marathon in April. After that, I will be doing obstacle races and my friend and I want to form a…

Monday thru Friday, up at 4:30, feed the dogs and cats, eat breakfast (egg, toast, and turkey sausage), read a book or go online, run a load of laundry or tidy up the house a bit. Gym by 6:30 - Spartan workouts on M W F, running on T and Th, 40 minutes a day, shower at the gym and get to work by 8:15.

Scrambled eggs with cheese and a piece of toast keeps me satisfied in the mornings. Baked chicken breast and a baked potato is my fvorite dinner - fairly low calorie but completely satisfying.

Type 2 diabetic, diagnosed in Nov. 2016 with an A1C of 8%. Yesterday my A1C was 5.4% and my doc dropped one of my meds. That felt amazing!

My Dad, his Mom, and several paternal aunts and uncles had it. My Mom has it as well.

The day after I get on the stationary bike for a long, slow, easy workout, nothing too strenuous. It really helps my sore muscles.

I have done 2 HMs and am training for my first full, and I agree that you should try to get in at least 1 10 mile run 3 - 4 weeks before. You can feel fine at mile 8 and hit a huge wall at mile 9, so better to get to know your limits. Have fun!

Running radio is my go-to.

I started running last year at 44 - my first 5k was 48 minutes. I had walkers passing me. But I refused to quit and started working on distance. I've done 2 half marathons now, and am gearing up for a full in April, then will be starting obstacle races after that. I had the first anniversary of my first 5k on Thanksgiving…

I do body weight workouts 3 days a week, following a training plan geared to getting me ready for Spartan races this summer. I love them and hate them. Love them because I am making much bigger gains than I was doing weight machines, hate them because, well, they suck! I run the other 2 days.

86 this morning. 101 yesterday. Weekends are bad because we go out more and I make poor choices.
-
101.
-
84 tonight.
-
96 this morning.
-
141, but that was not even an hour after eating - one of those hectic late nights!
-
124, which was also 1.5 hours after eating dinner....
-
Oops, wrong post... 86 this morning...
-
70 yesterday, 84 today. Made it through Thanksgiving with a high of 131 2 hours after eating...

I have type 2 diabetes so I always eat before a run (or any exercise) so my blood sugar doesn't drop too low - an egg on toast is my go-to about an hour before my run. Afterwards will depend on what my sugar levels are doing, whether I grab some fruit for a boost or have some lean protein if everything is stable.

89 tonight.

My morning fasting levels have risen, yes. The rest of my numbers have remained pretty consistent. I will ask about why I am on Glyburide at my next visit. I did not know about the possible heart issues.

I am doing my first obstacle run this spring. 3 days a week, I follow a workout that is different body weight exercises coupled with dumbbells, pull ups, box jumps, and burpees - so many burpees! If you Google Spartan Workouts you can probably find the workouts. They get progressively more intense from week to week.

111.

Anything weird going on? Stress, feeling ok? When mine are all over it usually means I'm getting ill or am more stressed than normal!
-
I am under pretty tight control myself but as I have discovered, if I get sick, my numbers are all over the place. About 98% of the time my numbers are within the normal for non-diabetics, and the other 2% are high or low depending on how the rest of my body feels. It stinks!

Thanks! I feel better this morning but due to upset stomach, missed my evening meds, so my fasting this morning was 163. Hoping to get back on track!

PF is not known for It's strength training, but when I went with my husband once, they do have weight machines and a circuit set up that might be a good place to start. The trainers are there to show you how to work each machine as well.
-
Nope. Doing a 5k the morning of and to hell with the calories for the day!
-
78. I was very ill last night and still not great this morning, so will have to watch it.

Mornings, because if I wait to after work, it doesn't happen!
