@brittb07 Assuming that you are measuring your food accurately and not eating back all your calories some of that weight could be water. You could try decreasing sodium and increasing water intake to shed water weight if that would give you pleasure. BUT Awesome that you are improving your cardio health IMO it’s not all…

Still here.

In the epilepsy community the nickname for Topamax (brand name of topirimate) is Dopamax because of the cognitive side effects. I was shocked when Quisimia was FDA approved. I don't want my kid taking it for refractory seizures (and he takes some pretty hard core stuff). I know how much it sucks to be overweight but how…

Just what I needed to read today. Thank you.

Seltzer with lime. Keep one in your hand the whole time and drink away. I've been known to stash an apple and a couple of packs of almonds in my purse if I need to duck out for a discreet snack. If there is a particular venue I go to a lot I try to scope a few "safe" options ahead of time. Yay for shrimp cocktail! Hope…

Not that it matters what anyone thinks, but guarantee you that at least 90% of the people who see you think you are both awesome. A big high five to both of you from across the Atlantic!

After wasting more time than I care to admit on this thread. A) I believe this summarizes OP's position and the research behind it: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_at_Every_Size B) For the record, I am not sold on this approach. I have chosen to maintain at the mid-point of healthy BMI which for my gender, age,…

Points are just a proxy for calories which might have made sense back in the day when calorie info was less available. And, yes, the new points are a worse proxy than the old points because by weighting "unhealthy" calories more heavily than "healthy" calories they give a distorted idea that by eating "healthy" one is…

First, nothing you are going to do in 2 days will ruin everything. Second, pack some goto food - I like to take apples, almonds, and protien bars. Third, order smart if eating out is involved. Soups, vegetables, and lean meats baked or grilled with dressings on the side are usually a good bet. If it's fast food a grilled…

This. When I was losing 1) I anticipated it would require effort 2) I made progress in terms of weight loss when I stayed on track 3) I knew the level of restriction was temporary When I started to maintain 1) I did not anticipate how much effort it would require 2) I didn't get the same feeling of progress when I stayed…

Oops didn't read properly before posting. Disregard.

For some people rocking can relieve stress - for some people overeating can relieve stress. My theory: you replaced rocking with eating and therefore gained weight (I would think rocking calorie burn is negligible). I'm guessing you gave up rocking because it seems a little wierd. Maybe you could look for more socially…

Holy guacamole that is awesome! Congrats on your success!

This. I have found that when my willpower suddenly goes out the window emotions/ life stress is almost always the root cause.

This times 1 million.

Bump for later

Welcome! You have the right attitude. Just concentrate on getting things right 1 day at a time. And, most importantly, on picking yourself up after you screw up and continuing. You will be amazed at where you find yourself a year from now!

I guess I'm kind of sentimental - the idea of a child taking 10 minutes of the day to share a treat with friends and to let the spotlight shine on them seems a sad thing to say goodbye too. I was also shocked when I found out that the kids get 1 15 minute recess per 6 hour day (we had 3 when I was growing up in the 1970s).…

If you are hungry: large egg white omelet with lots of spinach and a little feta, dry wheat toast (butter on the side), fruit cup (heavy on watermellon and strawberries), lots of coffee. If you just want a treat: a pastry and a coffee. Should be able to bring in either under 500 cals easy. Have fun!
