  • Thanks for the great recipe!
  • Yes, stress can cause weight gain. Eat your exercise calories first of all, I know it seems counterintuitive. Are you drinking plenty of water? There is evidence that green tea is helpful in metabolising fat. I drink that a lot to get more fluids into my body. Green tea is also high in anti-oxidants! You can get it in all…
  • you can make mini cheesecakes. use a mini muffin pan with liners place a Nilla wafer for the crust in the bottom of each liner fill with cheese cake filling (the instant kind so that you don't have to cook them!) top with fruit preserves or chocolate shavings or whatever. when chilled pop them out of the mini muffin tins &…
  • Do you count the exercise calories burned while doing strength training?
  • I would go for an elliptical, it is not only easier on the knees, but you can get an upper body workout as well. I would look in the paper or on Craigslist for a used one. People are selling used gym equipment all of the time.
  • spark people also has a good recipe calculator. you can also save things that you make/eat all of the time as a meal. It will come up first in your list if you do a search & have it sorted by relevance. A lot of the Cooking Light recipes are already entered, which is a great cookbook BTW!
  • I agree with the idea of a "cheat meal" rather than a day of cheating. If I exercise more on a day like that I feel that I am at least offsetting some of my "cheating."
  • I am using the Cooking Light cookbook, not only are the recipes easy, but the food is delicious and the portions very generous. I have been cooking from it for the last week & my family has loved all of the dishes too! There are some seriously good tummy fillers in it! I made the Black Bean & Chicken Chilaquales tonight &…
  • Can any one describe what is the cause of the discrepancy between the calories recorded by my Polar heart monitor and those listed on this web site? My calorie count from the Polar is usually significantly lower. TIA! :ohwell:
  • I picked up the Cooking Light cookbook & it is great!
  • I agree with Jewlz, unless you want something with lots of whizz bang options, stick with the F6 or F4. I have the F6 & it seems to have just the right balance of features for me.

  • The amount that I work at the computer varies. Some days, if I have a big project, I can be at the computer all day. If I do not have something going on, it may be no more than a half hour a day (logging in my food & exercise!). My kids are at school all day & I drive them back & forth to school (driving time at least 2…
  • In my settings I put myself down as "lightly active." I work out of my home (with three flights of stairs), take care of two kids, a dog, a lizard, approx. 30 fish & a husband, as well as running my own business. In the exercise log, you can enter things like "light cleaning" & "cooking." Do activities like that fall under…
  • Thanks both of you!
  • I just got a new Polar F6 and I am wondering how it is used by other MFP members. Specifically, do you wear it all of the time & record your daily calories or just during exercise periods? Thanks in advance!
  • Here is an interesting fact that I heard during an interview with Michael Pollan yesterday. (he has a new book out called "In Defense of Food"). Up until the 1970's, American's spent approximately 16% of their income on food and 9% on health care. Those numbers are now reversed. Eating healthier may be more costly in the…
  • I quit a long time ago after smoking for about 15 years. I went to a weekend retreat held by either the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association. (It's been so long ago I forget which! ) I hate that sort of thing, but it worked. I am sure if you check either website, you can get some information…
