it really depends on what you want. if you want a simple one that will take your heart rate and has a calorie counter the polar f4 is the best for the price, the polar f6 has a few extra features that i liked. (i own an f6) i can download things to my computer, and have a log. it has a back light were the f4 does not so if you work out in the dark (early morning and night) you wont be able to read it. I wanted a simple one that was easy to use and understand and i liked the log option. i recommend the f4 or the f6 if you are like me and not good with tech stuff. the more expensive ones can get kind of involved.

I agree with Jewlz, unless you want something with lots of whizz bang options, stick with the F6 or F4. I have the F6 & it seems to have just the right balance of features for me.

Really take a look at the MIO Ultimate.

I am quite happy with what it does for a mid to low end HRM.

PLUS, You can take your heart beat in about 2 to 5 seconds by touching two spots on it for an instantaneous reading (vice always wearing the chest strap)

Jewl is right CB, it all depends on what you want to do, the better the model, the more bells and whistles. They are pretty much all going to give you your calories burned, but after that, the general rule is, the more you pay, the more fancy doo dads you get. I have an F6 as well, and it works great for me. For a while I was looking at the runner specific model, but with buying a house, I can't justify the expense (it's about 300 bucks), and to tell you the truth, I know exactly what heart rate my pace should be at, so it's not truely vital for me anyway.
  • Sorry to jump on this thread but how does my F11 connect to the pc?

    Thanks

the one i have is called a Highgear pulsewear duo, i got it off of amizon for about 40 bucks!! it has the chest strap, and counts calories and has a lap timer, and thats about all that i need! here is a link if youd like to view it
    http://www.amazon.com/Highgear-PulseWare-Monitor-Fingertip-Wireless/dp/B000FZ4RRM

if you do decide on this one, it is a little tricky setting up, but worth it once you know how it works. (and me and shorerider both have this model so you could ask for help if need be)

The F4 has a chest strap. As far as I know all the polars do. But the chest strap is not as bad, you get used to it. Good luck!! :flowerforyou:
