  • I make homemade chicken or turkey broth and eat that first thing every day. It is really good and important to get those good vitamins and such into you. I throw in a finely chopped up cooked baby carrot or two, some chicken and some kale. It's a good kick start to the day. It is great to have lots of broth handy. I find…
  • I have lost and gained 200+lbs over the last 10 years. The only time I ever, EVER can lose weight is when doing low carb. I wish it weren't true but it is. Keto is tough to start but soon your cravings completely stop (the physical ones anyways, mentally it is harder lol). I am back on keto after being off it for quite…
  • I eat very strictly, I have (or I guess, HAD) terrible, awful painful IBS. I found out I have a lot of food allergies/intolerances and cut them all back. I eat very limited foods and all paleo. I feel great and would recommend it to ANYONE!
  • FODMAPs has been great, really really helped me a lot. I don't do dairy or sugar though. I found that the weight was easy to lose when I stuck to this diet. I've stopped actively trying to lose weight and have indulged a bit and I'm maintaining my weight loss which is still great in my opinion.
  • I understand how hard it can be especially when you have to prepare other peoples food that isn't paleo. For me, I feel better when I eat a certain way so that is what has given me motivation to stick to it!!! Not sure about groups, I believe the group search function is wonky now so its hard to find groups.
  • hello everyone! Still looking for paleo friends, preferably people who have an open diary. It's helpful to see how others are eating if only for motivation alone!!
  • Check out FODMAPS diet, Specific Carb Diet, GAPS and autoimmune paleo. Elimination diet is likely needed to determine your own specific food reactions, we are all different!! I feel a lot better than I did last year with NO HELP from doctors, just diet. I am not 100% but I am working towards it.
  • I dealt with extreme pain and such uncomfortable bloating. A year later I am not 100% better but have managed with diet. FYI-doctors did not help me at all. Look into FODMAPS, Specific Carb diet, GAPS and autoimmune paleo. An elimination diet may be needed as you may react to foods that are on these IBS friendly diets. We…
  • Diet works!!! I'm also controlling my bad IBS with it. I do stricter fodmaps. I feel worlds better than I did last great although I do have some annoying problems still.
  • I have Lost nearly 100lbs on a diet that Has greatly reduced my IBS. Add me to friends if you like. Fodmaps is a great starting point but IMO isn't the end all be all of IBS diert. You will have to figure out your triggers on your own through trial and error. I feel better and I do not find the diet boring at all. There is…
  • I eat a stricter version of fodmaps. Can you eat chicken? I can't do red meat of any kind but chicken is OK. I am on a very limited diet but I feel fine with it. I can't eat out but I see it as a good thing.... Saving money!!
  • Find your food triggers. Look into elimination diets and fodmaps diet. Its helped me so so Much.
  • Add me to friends. I have bad IBS and have been on a strict diet to control it. I think you should remember that you will need to eat well 95% of the time and inky indulge in cheats infrequently. IMO fried and processed foods are bad and I have unfortunately had to give up alcohol permanently.i have also been to…
  • Do it strictly. For at least a month but preferably as long as you can manage. Not all FODMAPS foods will agree with you so remember its a bit of trial and error. I eat very strictly and my symptoms are much better but nowhere near cured.
  • I have to keep a very strict diet to control my IBS. I still am not 100% not close but it's better. FODMAPS is a good place to start but was not strict enough for me. I'm on no dairy, no gluten, no red meat, no sugar (even fruits) and quite a few veggies/starches are a no no for me. Best of luck!
  • Give it a longer shot, in my opinion. Look into Specific Carb DIet and GAPS. FOdmaps on its own did not work for me as many of the foods it allowed bother me quite a lot. I hope you can figure this out. Cutting out gluten and dairy should be your first objective.
  • Thanks for all your helpful comments. So far I have reacted to: Avocado (don't think it was anaphylaxis but a terribly painful gut reaction) tilapia (anaphylaxis) duck eggs (severe throat closing anaphylaxis) cashews (was not immediate and was more of an allergic reaction as it.. came out the other end) I think I have had…
  • FODMAPS is a great diet and a great place to start for most people. It wasn't quite enough for me so I had to go a bit more strict with my diet. I had a severe reaction to avocado the last time I ate it, it was terrifying. I loved the stuff but I'll never eat it again. Oh, will I ever miss guacamole. But anything is worth…
  • I have to get my celiac testing done, I put it off til after my wedding because it makes me so nauseous that I knew I couldn't do the three weeks of eating gluten to do the test. I've been told by another doctor that I very likely have celiacs so I should not put off getting the testing done.
  • I love cruciferous veggies like broc and cauli but ultimately have given them up for now. Was reading how they can impede thyroid function as well so just decided to cut them out. I do miss my brocoli and cauli! I know I'll be eating them again at some point though. It's hard to stick to this diet until you go off plan and…
  • White potatoes are my big calorie booster now. I actually need to slow down weight loss so I'm thankful I seem to do fine with rice and white potatoes as I need the calories. Sweet potatoes are a big no no for me though. What about brown or white rice or potatoes? Try to eat lots of fat. Coconut oil is a good healthy fat…
  • Thanks for sharing your stories everyone. I think it's so helpful to see what's worked for other people. There seem to be some common things that bother other people that bother me too. Gluten is a huge no no, it causes so much nausea for me. I don't really miss it though. Thought I would but it's just an adjustment then…
  • It took awhile for me to figure out what foods were causing me problems and some of the FODMAPS foods were problematic for me. If you are lucky and you don't react to any of the FODMAP foods, you will have relief probably within the first week. Maybe even sooner. If you are unlucky like me, and you do react to some of the…
  • He ended up feeding the sweet treats to our chickens, he had no appetite for them either! Sounds like your hubby is a serious sugar addict. I've been there, I understand it. It's been how many months since I've ate sugar and even longer since I ate my fave sugar (jellybeans and candy!) and I still think about it. I think…
  • How are your symptoms now Sukifir? Are you feeling some relief with your new diet? I see that you've started losing weight again! So excited for you. I hope you're also starting to feel better. So amazing to finally be out of that plateau, right? I'm finally "mostly" recovered from my attack last Monday. I am still getting…
  • If you're still having problems, you're still eating something that doesn't agree with you. I hope you find relief soon! I know it will happen for you. Two weeks is an excellent goal! I bet you'll end up feeling great and will end up going months gluten and sugar free. :) If you don't mind loserviolet, I'll keep an eye on…
  • *holy crap sorry this is so long, felt like typing this up before i head to bed. Hope it makes sense I'm tired* I've had problems with chronic diarhea alternating with constipation for my entire life. I probably don't need to tell you guys how terrible that is. For a very very very long time I didn't even know that what…
  • I've been tracking everything that my body goes through on a daily basis so I can see quite clearly now that my IBS gets MUCH worse around my period and then there is also some relief from the constipation around the same time as well. Any woman I talk to who has IBS symptoms seems to agree that it's very much related to…
  • is bumping allowed? If so, bump. :)
