  • I've had the same problem. I recently stopped logging on to my fitness pal in an attempt to stop counting calories and just try to eat 'normal.' Even when I make healthy choices, I mentally count the amount of calories I'm taking in and it drives me crazy. I have always been a huge health nut and have a master's in…
  • Remember to take it one day at a time and that will make the process more achievable. Good luck! We only have the moment we're living in:)
  • I have definitely experienced that as well. As soon as I give into my sugar cravings, it takes over my mind. Sugar is like a drug I swear! I'm trying to limit my intake of sugar in all foods and not just chocolate or ice cream alone. Cereal or other high sugar carbs can trigger it for me as well. I have to be very…
  • I would stick to what you like but use a fat free version. If it were me, I'd cook an egg white or 2, top it with turkey bacon and maybe use sugar free jelly or cream cheese as a condiment. Peanut butter and bananna is always a good option too!
  • I think burning calories in general is the goal here. 1 pound equals 3500 calories so it's really just a mathematical equation. Things that you can do to burn calories are walking, jogging, elliptical, stair stepper, dancing of any kind, swimming, sports......basically anything that gets your heart rate up will put you in…
  • I feel the same way sometimes. Lately if I want a special treat, I'll make a smoothie. I use one bananna, 1 cup of fat free milk, one tbls of unsweetened cocoa and a pack of stevia, and ice of course. It taste just like a bananna chocolate shake!! It's around 200 calories and delicious. I also love wraps. I use low carb…
  • I'm interested in a healthy brownie recipe as well!
  • I have no idea why this happens. I've been a runner for years now and have had the same experiences. I also ran my first half marathan a couple of months ago and when training, some days it felt like I was running on air, other days, I could barely make it a mile. I've often wondered the same thing. It probably has a lot…

  • That's awesome!! Ride that wave :)
  • It's all about losing fat. When you lose weight, your body decides which area the fat will come from. For me, the first thing to go is my chest and then my face usually starts to get slimmer. I normally notice the belly and love handles after this. Just keep counting calories and exercise to burn more calories and you'll…
  • That sounds awesome! What's in it?

  • I used to beat myself up about skipping a run, but I've found that some days it's good to listen to your body and do something else. I ran a half marathon 2 months ago, and there were some days that I just refused to run when I was training. I would do the elliptical or try to run and end up walking instead. I did great in…
  • A protein shake is a protein shake. I have used shakeology before and yes it serves it's purpose, but so does Jillian's protein from the biggest loser that you can buy at wal mart. I just compare the amount of calories and other nutritional content that you're taking in and try to stay along the same lines. I like to make…

  • That's awesome! Thanks for the motivation :)
  • I did this for a week and I definitely saw results. It was really hard for me because I'm a huge snacker, and there's only so much fruit and veggies that I want to eat. lol. It was great because I don't crave fruits and vegetables when I want to snack so it cut down my food intake and late night munching. I'd grab a…
  • Of course! You're body will do anything you're mind tells it too......obviously we can't fly or do superhero moves, but you get the picture lol. I recently ran a half marathon and prior to running it, I had only ran 7 miles at the most. My goal was to run the whole thing without stopping, and right before the race my…
  • I've thought about doing this before, but quickly realized that processed food is not in the least bit healthy. I definitely buy smart ones from time to time, but I know that I can make a turkey sandwich, chicken wrap, salad, egg and turkey bacon on english muffin, or something that's easy and low calorie that is way more…
  • Like you, I'm a walking Health and Nutrition book lol. I've always been really into health and fitness and this is another tool to help me achieve my goals. I have had strange looks from coworkers and family members about it, but I know that it's for me and not them......besides I'm not looking up sports stats or the…
  • I definitely think that's ok to do for about 5 days....no more than 7 I would suggest. That should be the kickstart you need and then you can add the extra after a week to fuel your muscles and keep your metabolism revved up. I've also read that after a few weeks, you may want to add or sutract 200 or so calories every now…
  • That's awesome! I ran my first half marathon 2 months ago on my 28th birthday......it was unbelievable. It was the greatest birthday gift I could ask for. There's so much adrenaline running through your body with the crowd of people around cheering and all of the runners in front, beside, and behind you. My goal was to run…
  • I would keep it at the same level. Most of the time you are sitting or standing, or making your way around the classroom from time to time. You may feel exhausted from dealing with the kids, but physically it's not demaning. Good luck! Stay out of the break room because there are always baked goodies laying around.
  • Yeah the bad part is it's all or nothing for me. Once I open a bag of chips or box of cookies.....it's downhill from there. This is something tha's recently happened to me in the past couple months. I've never had this problem before.
  • Congrats that's awesome! Keep it up. You'll get there slowly but surely :)
  • I think that p90x is a well rounded program. The nutritional guide is great to go by because it teaches you how to eat as far as portion sizes and where the bulk of your foods should come from. You may be gaining muscle along with losing fat. Muscle weighs more than fat, but the benefits of gaining muscle are tremendous.…

  • I feel like you can never eat too much fiber. I always go over on my intake, BUT be careful bc it can give you an upset stomach. Eat as much as your body can handle. If you find that your stomach is sensitive to it, then cut back, otherwise you'll be fine.
  • I can give you a few tips for eating right....I've spent my life studying health and nutrition. I know how to be healthy but actually applying it is the hard part. Lean meats: chicken, tuna, lean beef, turkey, fish, EGG WHITES.....obviously grilled, smoked, poached is the best option. Fried food is not good. Vegetables:…
  • Congratulations! That's awesome. Keep it up.....it's the little victories like fitting into an old pair of jeans that keeps us going :)
  • Haha yeah it definitely felt wierd....I was secretly hoping that no one knew I was looking.
  • Wow I have the opposite problem! I can't stop eating lol. I don't know what you're eating, but maybe you can try adding avocado, nuts, sweet potatos, or more lean meats. These foods are higher in calories but very healthy. Maybe I should try your diet for a day....what does a typical day consist of for you? I put avocado…
