Anybody encounter this at home?

Just wondering is others encounter others within their household wondering what the h@ll you are doing logging all your calories, etc..? Do others out there encounter criticism or judgement? How about support? Do you find you are getting the support you need from your loved ones? I personally find that as of late, I am hurrying to log my calories/exercise/posts so others won't notice (we have a full household!)... I know my husband thinks this is silly as he doesn't feel I need to lose weight at all and I am already educated in the field of nutrition and fitness.
Anyhow, just wondering about others experiences with this, in my opinion, awesome site.
Thanks!

Just do your thing and ignore the negative with a smile. You are doing this for YOU, not them!0

I just tell them I am logging my food or fitness.....my husband and kids are all very supportive!! It took a while at first but now it is just part of my day!!0

I haven't encountered any negativity, but what I do find myself doing is counting other peoples calories and Uhh...people don't like that! LOL0

Yes! I totally get this a lot. I swear, one day my man is judging me for how much I eat and the next day telling me I don't eat enough. And telling me things like "I don't know...for all this effort it doesn't seem to be working", ect. I also hide my logging activity and have to pretend to be so full at dinner "I'll throw up if I eat any more" so he doesn't start a fight over me supposedly not eating enough.
Just hang in there and try to ignore it. I know its hard and frustrating, and I wish I could tell you why some people are so unsupportive. In the end, it doesn't even matter why they act the way they do - it's still hurtful and makes you feel guilty for trying to be a healthier you.0 -
I had a hard time at first too, but my man either let it go or got use to it. Either way it doesn't matter...if it continues to bother them, lay down the law.0

OMG, story of my life. You nailed it!0 -
Like you, I'm a walking Health and Nutrition book lol. I've always been really into health and fitness and this is another tool to help me achieve my goals. I have had strange looks from coworkers and family members about it, but I know that it's for me and not them......besides I'm not looking up sports stats or the latest BMW like some of them. We all have different interests and needs, and I try to respect that and hope they do the same. I try not to go in depth about it, I just say that it helps me stay on track and I enjoy it. A couple of my coworkers have jumped on the mfp bandwagon as well. So keep logging because this is about your happiness not theirs:)0

my hubby tells me that i dont need to lose weight and he loves me the way i am. but he's also very supportive in me trying to accomplish my ideal body. he sees me crying when i try to get dressed. and helps anyway that he can. he watched me on my newsfeed one day and logging my food and exercise and said that MFP is like a "fitness facebook". lol. and i agree. it is. i dont hide it from him. but he did make me promise that i would do my thing the healthy way with no crazy pills or starvation diets. but its like robert said, its for you and not them. if this helps you do your thing, then do it!0

Several similar topics have been posted lately and they've got me thinking: What does it say about our culture and/or society that many of us hide our calorie-counting but that others openly eat fast food in exorbitant amounts for all to see? (And the latter's waistlines show it for all to see as well.) Intuitively, to me, it seems that it should be the other way around -- that healthy habits would be made public while unhealthy ones would be hidden.
It's a sad day when we hide that we are becoming healthy :frown:0 -
Loving all the replies... thank you. Lots to consider. Very true about how it may seem 'weird' or 'strange' to others who might walk by and see us logging our calorie counts, but yes, it's for US and really is nothing to feel embarrassed about. I have had some similar experiences as a few of you regarding my man commenting on what I eat (how much or NOT as much, etc...). Frustrating. I continue to stay focused though... we have 4 daughters in our household...and 3 of them are nearing teenage years. :-00

HAHA!!! My sisters hates when I do that to them... No one has really said anything negative about it. But, they all know I'm trying my best to eat healthy.0
