  • I do take ownership, but I get triggered by my partner's problems, demands, behaviour and neediness. I know he cannot help it, I don't blame him: Alzheimer's is a real killer, but after I have spent another hour listening to and trying to sort out his problems, put up with his aggressive verbal abuse - he needs help, but…

  • 4th October 3 x Yes I've been all over the place recently, literally and figuratively, but am trying to walk in a straight line now. My weak point is tracking what I eat and what I do, so I will try and concentrate on that. I usually get my exercise in, even if it's only a 20 minute walk. I think, even when I don't track,…

  • 3rd September 3 x Yes I have the most difficulty with Tracking in this challenge. I can do a 'wet finger' calories thing, but I know it won't be very accurate. Tracking is the most important measure here; if I don't track, I cheat and don't lose weight. In my case, it's best if I pre-plan. In that case I know how many…
  • I really like the Kitchen Closed concept. My oldest son is a chef and once they have served the last desserts, they clean the kitchen and no more food gets served: kitchen closed! I use it for myself, to stop me nibbling in the evening, after my evening meal ...
  • Re fried oreos: in Britain the English make fun of the Scots for eating deep-fried Mars bars and deep-fried pizza. The Scottish diet is not exactly healthy and many Scots are overweight.
  • 3rd September 3 x Yes. Exercise barely, it really pissed down with rain most of the day, some streets flooded, but I got a little walk in and some shopping, in-between downpours. I have a home help for a couple of hours every fortnight, basically to do things my knees cannot cope with. This is a new help, who came once…
  • While Hallowe'en is not very British, French or Dutch, it is being celebrated more and more. Here in France it's usually during Autumn Half Term, so my little neighbours tend to be at their grandparents'. I do buy some sweets, just in case, but usually end up giving them to the kids once they are back home.
  • @Caroline_slowandsteady Fried oreos????

  • They are cute though!
  • I love how national and cultural identities are different on this platform. It took me (Dutch-born, UK grown-up, now in France) a few seconds to identify September's owls - oh, yes, they have the start of American Football in USA in September, I think. Here in France, September is the 'rentree', back to school, and the…
  • Welcome to all new members! My name is Elsien, I am originally Dutch, but have lived most of my adult life in UK, as well as in a few other places round the world. I now live in Montpellier, in southern France, where I intend to stay! I've been doing MFP and UAC for a while now, but life has a way of throwing me off track,…
  • 1st September 1st day 3 x Yes! Hopefully many more to follow! Lots of walking, about an hour at least, stayed under calorie budget and logged everything. On the last train home ...
  • Congratulations all you Winners! Well done! My main aim will be to stick UAC for the whole month and make at least the Champions' Circle. I know that I will need Pass Days for my Mum's 99th birthday on 25th, but other than that I should be able to manage! My Yoga classes will start again on 13th, there are two walks…
  • 30th August Still in London, doing lots of fun things with the kids and walking my legs off. I cannot do much about controlling my calories though, although I am not going mad on anything, try and eat as responsibly as possible. Luckily I don't have a sweet tooth and I don't like most fast food... One more day in London,…
  • Having fun in London, great seeing my kids after all this time! Doing lots of walking, but it's impossible to count or record calories.
  • Still in Paris, but catching the Eurostar to London this morning! Did a day's work in Paris yesterday, but managed to get to the theatre, had a nice meal, so all in all I was way over calories. I did clock up some 55 - 60 minutes walking though! Logged most of it, but had to guesstimate some. Excited to see my kids today,…

  • No. Way over on calories, I stopped logging. Nice meal in Paris put me over. Got 30 minutes walking, mostly dragging a suitcase in though.
  • No, didn't stay under calories and didn't track the meal I had at friends'. Had a great time though, the first time in months and months eating out at a friend's house. I did walk some 30 minutes though.
  • I'm off to Paris and then London from tomorrow, so no planning.
  • Not sure if this is a hack, but it saves me a lot of stress and helps me stay on track. I plan most of my meals once a week, usually on a Sunday morning. I use previous meals and ingredients where possible. I can then make a shopping list for the week, I know every day what I am cooking, eating and it helps me keep under…
