  • I get mine at a real butcher. Bought some from Albertson's butcher block one time, and it tasted like fish! Gross! Real butcher who can tell you WHERE on the pig and WHERE in the state it came from.

  • Store bought eggs are two or three weeks old. Find a local who will sell you eggs, at just a fraction more. Or if you have the room, consider a small flock. You can always raise some for meat too. Everything else I try to buy from local farmers and ranchers. If you are into beef, you can find someone who will go in with…
  • The artisan bread class is the same one for the link from Mother Earth News. It's annoying, and in several pages, but it's worth taking the time to page through all the info. I come from a baking family, and I'm the "Pie Person" of my generation. Usually not a week goes by that I bake a loaf of bread (or two) and make…
  • Use the Mother Earth News bread recipe. http://www.motherearthnews.com/Real-Food/Artisan-Bread-In-Five-Minutes-A-Day.aspx Perfect this one, and then move on to pizza dough and the whole grain recipe. It's perfect. OH! and don't overknead this dough.
  • Cancel out on the whole deal. She is using you so she can crash at your house after stuff you DON'T WANT to do, and so she is close to him so she can have brunch. CANCEL. Oh, and, CANCEL THE FRIENDSHIP. No one needs a user. A little help or give and take now and then is acceptable, but she is crossing the line.
  • YOU ARE AWESOME! I found this thread because I'm going to a teacher training next week at a different district, and lunch will be provided. I'm NOT going to eat their food. I will be taking my own, no offense. Losing weight feels too good to sacrifice it so THEY don't feel bad.
  • OOHhhhhh! That would cause such a tizzy fit! And he would POUT! ;)
  • My mother kind of does this for my father, and he is 76. What is he going to do if she dies before him?
  • Sorry you don't have better pool options. I have 'reduced space' in both hip joints. I can walk and it actually feels better afterward because I have arthritis developing and walking 'lubricates the joints,' but it's so hot right now I have to walk at 6 am. I am savoring my summer because it's likely I have two weeks left,…
  • I think if she looks around, she might be able to find a pool that uses alternate (non-chlorine) chemicals. The gym I go to uses salt-water.
  • EEEK! The impact of jogging would damage my hips even more. I can use the elliptical and do HIIT there.
  • Depends on the bike. For me, it has to be recumbent or one that doesn't bring my knees up high.
  • Holy cow. We are in the same boat! I have had two cortisone shots for bursitis in the same hip. They both were ineffective within a week. This Friday, I'm getting the 'front of hip' injection at the hospital, and have to be driven home from that one. Great. Might even lose feeling in my right side for a day or so. I've…
  • Agreed! Throw some resistance training in there too, though.
  • I never wore a bikini until I was 40 pounds down, but my avatar was never a bikini shot. I DID however, buy a cute athletic rafting bikini, and was confident and proud. I have put 20 back on, and how I wish I would have rocked that avatar when I had the bod to do it. I'm heading back down, and you better believe I'm going…
  • They all look like 'filling' foods that work with satiety--our mental evaluation of fullness. I lost my belly when I started lifting weights. I found that when I concentrated on good form, I was tucking my pelvis and engaging my abs.
  • Been there, done that. I was twenty pounds less than where I am now three and a half years ago, and I was happy. Time to find new goals, for sure. Change up your work out, and make goals of this fast of a mile, or this many reps at this weight, or this many pushups. Add more fresh vegetables and give yourself a goal of __…
  • Oh gross. THIS is attractive??! All I can think is 1) Idiocracy, and 2) Wall-E.
  • Inspiring! Thank you for sharing!
  • I have English bulldogs, so there is NO running. We jog occasionally, but never in the heat. And I have already paid for MY knee surgery and hers. Things got better when I got Jaeger leashes. I wear the leash like a cross-body bag strap, that way my hands are free. The bullies do love to hike, though.
  • If I am eating my exercise calories, and I am burning a ton, I can eat up to 2000 in a day, but I better be lifting, and spending a good amount of time on the elliptical.
  • I'm still a work in progress, but you are inspiring!
  • Two thumbs up!

  • Something to consider: I take glucosamine, mostly for a knee problem, but as soon as I started taking them, my nails and hair started growing like crazy. My hair dresser even noticed. Just a thought.
  • Wanna know something creepy? I think both of them look like middle school girls, with very little real curves. If men really find them sexy, what does that say?
  • Preference is strange. One of my co-workers bleaches her hair blond. I think it makes her look pasty. One time, she had beautiful brown hair after going to the hair dresser. She looked amazing. She kept it for about a month, and then when back to BLEACHED, because her husband likes blonds. ???? He married her. She DOESN'T…
  • I feel accomplished after I run, but my physical therapist was making too much $ off of me. Two or three days later, I would have adhesions in my muscles. We have an open discussion, my therapist and me, about exercises I should do and shouldn't. I do admit I have a partial meniscus in my right knee, but I have more knee…
