we call them sausages! It's only a hot dog if it has a bun. I've been wondering what "turkey sausage" or "chicken sausage" is? I assume it's processed turkey/chicken meat in a skin. I don't think we get it here, well, not in NI anyway. I've learnt a lot from this thread!

Don't be afraid to up your calorie intake, I did and now I seriously wonder why I bothered around the 1200 in the first place! Try it for a few weeks and if your not pleased with it then change again. As always, make sure you're getting enough protein.

Thank you alanabanana86 for asking this question and thankyou for all the replies. I needed all of this advice. I'm two weeks in to SL 5x5 and I'm reading Strong curves but don't want to start it until I understand the programme. Will hopefully do SL 5x5 for 4-6 weeks and then think about changing or incorporating SC. I…

One of my MFP friends runs for 40 mins most days doing lengths of her bedroom! She has no treadmill and doesn't want to run outside. Outside is for me, the fresh air, and seeing the world go past make it a far nicer experience than the treadmill every time. I was also going to suggest couch 2 5k, because you can start at…

Ah, huge congratulations on your first run! I know this is huge for you, at the beginning of this year I was not a runner either! C25K is a brilliant tool to use but just take it at your own pace. When I started I could only run 4 mins at a time but within a week (of three runs per week) I was able to go further and within…

Just a suggestion as I know the racks are sooo expensive (uk also); My husband made a rack from steel box section and welding. You could ask around for a welder or someone handy about a garage to make one.

My hubby has had food intolerance issues for a few years. His main intolerance is dairy and gluten is only borderline but I bake with gluten free ingredients for him. I never had much luck getting a good cake from gf flour, I tried the Dove brand and also tried mixing the potato, rice and other blends but I still couldn't…

Who said taking the cake away? Cake is fine, but a complete overload of sweets, traybakes, niceties and a party bag home will surely make any toddler boke. My own children have came home and pukked over the floor from eating everything in sight so a few healthy alternatives along side the birthday cake cannot be a big…

I just thought of this the other day and can't wait to make them up for the next party... Little cocktail sticks with 1/2 grapes, 1/2 strawberries, little pineapple chunks etc and melt some chocolate, put in a piping bag, snip the end off and pipe a little squiggle of chocolate over the fruit! I know my children love…

Oh, I think I might have heard of blogiaties before...will def check these out. I need beginners as I need to learn the basics and proper form but I want it to be challenging and not too easy so I get a good workout. I asked the physio how often she would recommend and she said every day! I like the sound of that 6 day…

My name is Rachel, I am 27 years old. I live in Northern Ireland (sorry I know the group name says Midlands but the working mum tight for time bit caught me...hope you don't mind). I am married and have 2 little monsters, a 4 year old girl who is in nursery class and an 11 month old boy who just started walking yesterday!…

Hi, I was just about to post a new thread asking for friends with similar goals. I'm 27, married with a 4yo girl and a 11 mnth old Boy. I'm 5ft3in. Oct 13 I was 145lbs, started MFP mid Jan 14 at 138lbs. Have set a goal of 119 but I've never been under 126 in my adult life, I'm happy at 126 but I want to push myself to see…

Hi Ladies, I'm a UK mum of 2 - 4yo girl and 10 1/2month old boy. I work full time and juggle the busy schedule as well as trying to get back in shape. Finding baby belly hard to shift this time. Feel free to add me as I'd like more British MFP friends, I like the support and motivation from seeing others exercise and food…

Hi, I know this is old post but feel free to add me. I don't really know what eating clean technically means but I don't eat much processed food and definitely no ready/dried meals. I cook loads and everything from fresh. I get basically everything from Tesco but also farmers market and butchers. I'd love to see more…

Same here...I started doing intervals... 4mins running (more like jogging, if I went too fast I just burned out way too quickly) 1 min walking 4 mins running 1 min walking 4 mins running then about 3 min walk back home (about 1.5mile route) during week 2 the first 4 mins was increasing to about 5 mins and then week 3 I…

I started running 3 weeks ago...last friday night I ran one consecutive mile and then about a 3/4 mile after a 1.5 mins walking inbetween. massive improvement. I am very unfit when it comes to running but keep at it because the progress will come faster than you expect. I spend alot of effort concentrating on breathing. I…

lol on your running analogy, I'm similar just started two weeks ago and trying to build it up. I can't go very far (1.5 miles) at the mo but I might give this a go. It's a good time now though in the winter if you're out in the evening it's still dark!

Sorry but I don't think your comments are helpful to this girl at all! She is struggling with her nutrition and has been seeking help. MFP can be useful for different goals and if she can use it to her advantage of upping her calories rather than a deficit then why not? It is probably as hard for BeckyHocom to eat food…

Hi, Even though it is a scary prospect for you it really depends on what the 1300kcal is made up of. If it is good nutritous food it will be more likely to support your vital organs, blood supply and energy levels instead. The very fact that your on here asking for help is so positive and shows you don't really believe…

Do you do any of the strength training on the P90x? Protein is thee most important part of your diet for repairing your muscles....it's a must for weight training but I find it is as important for cardio and losing weight as well. It is definitely worth trying to get more protein in your diet as your body will recover…

I'm 5'3" started at 145lbs currently at 136lbs. My goal is 119lbs but that's really to give myself enough room to gain up to 7lbs. Once I reach my goal it will be strength training and ditching the scales as far as losing weight is concerned. I have terrible sweet tooth and love food. I prepare exactly what my meals are…

My husband has a borderline gluten intolerance (and major dairy, celery, tuna and barley intolerance). After eliminating all gluten from his diet for 12 weeks he slowly started to introduce one type at a time and he can't eat white breads at all. He can take wholemeal bread but has to limit his intake. I cook all our meals…

I actually gasped on your last pic! Wow, amazing. Such an inspiration. My husband wants to train me with weights but we can't until we move house in March back to his home-place where he has a good set up of machines and free weights. Reading your story makes me so excited, that's a massive achievement in one year and I…

Hi I'm new to mfp, my goal is 19lbs (lost 10lbs before Christmas) would also like some more friends on here for support and motivation. I'm a mummy to a 4yr old and 10 month old and work full time so fitting these goals into a very busy schedule. Rx

I am not very fit at all and although I have jogged before I only started timing and calculating my distance this week. I jogged (outside) 4 minutes jogging 1 minute walking 4 minutes jogging 1 minute walking 4 minutes jogging 3 minutes walking home I checked my distance approximately online and it was only about 1.5…

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/9857136/Horse-meat-scandal-timeline.html This link might be interesting, here in UK we had a massive horse meat scandal where undeclared for human consumption was sold to food processing factories. Packets labelled as beef were tested and held 29% horsemeat! It's taking a long time…
