You look marvelous! Congratulations on your success and your future successes as well!

You are one Hot Momma! Congratulations and well done...

Hey, I started MFP at age 47 (just turned 48) 299 days ago also hoping to lose 140 pounds! It seemed like an unattainable goal at the time, but I am more than halfway there. I am down 80 pounds so far. Best of luck to you! I don't do the friend thing, because I would spend way too much time on here if I did (I have no…

I am on day 299, 80 pounds down so far. Best of luck to both of you! I remember my first few weeks very well, and it does get easier.

Oh, also, I agree with the standing part. My brother's boyfriend is very fit, and he is fond of saying "You sit, you die!" when he, who stands any chance he gets, is offered a seat by someone. It is true that sitting for long periods increases one's mortality, and it is important, if one has a desk job, to get up every…

I also started out walking, on a treadmill, and now I walk fast on a treadmill and also do powerlifting. (Stronglifts 5x5). When I got on the treadmill the first time I could barely keep my balance, that's how out of shape I was. Walking one mile at a moderate pace made me very sweaty! 80 pounds lost and nine months later,…

Whether or not one thinks sugar "addiction" is a real thing or not, it can be a helpful framework for folks who want to stop overusing it and are confused by their inability to do so. Most of the rehab units where I have worked have not allowed sugary drinks or chocolate milk, because they are overused by the folks trying…

It is not true that everyone who has an addiction, or is dependent on a substance will go through withdrawal. I have seen severe alcoholics stop drinking abruptly and not go through any withdrawal symptoms, and I have seen folks with smaller habits go through severe withdrawal. When it comes to alcohol, for example, the…
-
The reason I phrased it like that is that the evidence on sugar as a potentially addictive substance is new, and the evidence on those other substances being addictive has been around for a while.
-
Sugar has effects on the nucleus accumbens and the ventral tegmental areas of the brain, which are involved with addiction. There are increasing studies suggesting that sugar, and a sugar-fat combination has similar effects on the brain to opiates, like morphine, heroin, etc. in terms of dopamine binding, increased…

Great job! I have eight pounds to lose until I hit the same benchmark!
-
Looking great, you! Well done!

I absolutely love my treadmill, I don't know if you have space or funding for one, but I use mine for about 90 minutes daily. I would have thought after nine months of daily use I would be sick of it, but once I get into a rhythm on it, it is almost like a moving meditation session, it is very calming and fun.

Wow, we are all in the same neighborhood! I started in March with 140 pounds to lose, and am down 80 pounds, with 60 more to go.
-
Aw, fantastic! You look terrific!
-
Yowsa! Super-cute couple, and well done, both of you!!
-
I do both, because I can look back on MFP and see how many minutes I spent on the treadmill. If you allow for negative adjustments, MFP will account for the "double logging" of exercise.
-
Well done! I am right behind you, with 2.4 pounds to go until I hit 200.
-
+1 on the moustache, you look like a dear friend of mine, and he kills it when he has facial hair...
-
You look marvelous! Also, super-cute profile picture. Congratulations!

I weigh myself on my usual schedule, about four times weekly, including during that time, but I put all of my weights into a program that analyzes the ups and down and creates a change curve that is an average of my weights, and de-emphasizes the ups and downs. Happyscale is the app. It is actually very helpful.

You are looking great! Fabulous accomplishment, and best wishes with your continued success. I have lost 25% of my body weight, trying to reach 50%.

I had a similar situation growing up in terms of the limited resources, and I often wonder if that was not a component of my getting fat as an adult (I was slim up until age 25). When I started earning a decent income I really indulged as far as food went, and I found myself eating lots of snacks that I wanted to eat as a…

Dear Kitty Kat: I am sorry you are in a tough period, especially since you have done magnificently so far. Early on in my weight loss journey I went and had my body fat percentage and my basal metabolic rate tested. It might be worth it for you to do that, just so you can get some firm numbers. Depending on your height,…

The Microsoft Band syncs with MFP, at least the measure exercise does. I still wear my Fitbit for steps, it syncs with MFP and does not get in the way of the Microsoft Band sync, because of the negative calorie adjustment.
-
I have the Microsoft Band, and it is pretty good. The step counter is less accurate that my Fitbit One, though. It has lots of additional features that I didn't want (text, email, etc) but I got it because it was coming out earlier than the Fitbit Surge, which is what I think I want to get eventually.

Ah, I will do that. Definitely hold off on downloading for now, I think. My update occurred automatically on my iPhone. I did a google search and couldn't find any information on the issue. I ended up deleting the app and re-downloading it. The app was also acting really buggy, so that is why I deleted it and now it seems…

I got mine on Amazon for about $150, it is the DeskCycle brand one, but I am sure with a little research you can find one that is just as good but lower in price.
-
I have a Desk Cycle under my desk, and I pedal it whenever I can. I also do walking loops around my my department when I can get away from my office. I still work out and lift on my regular schedule as well, even on my work days.
