  • I believe I am right in saying that the calories noted on packaged foods can be out quite considerably so, albeit small, cold potentially be a contributory factor.

  • This is an interesting comment as it's not clear what the issue is. Obviously the age is a factor for you but are you looking for someone two years older than you who is not particularly handsome, friendly or nice? A little bit of background would be great. As @amgreenwell said try and distract yourself from food by doing…
  • I agree. Although there is no doubt that exercise is beneficial all around it isn't 'necessary' for weight loss. You have lost some weight so be patient with yourself - unfortunately it doesn't all just fall off immediately, it takes time for weight to accumulate therefore you need time for it to go back down. Best of luck…
  • This is EXACTLY my response too. Best of luck to you :)
  • I had blood tests a couple of months ago, including testing for coeliacs and my Dr told me to make sure I included gluten in my diet for a couple of days prior to the test. It came back negative but I have since read info on the UK Coeliac site whereby it states that you should include gluten for at least six weeks prior…
  • Soooo.... I never did get an answer :( Are all of these health benefits due to cutting out sugar or can some be attributed to eating a more nutritious diet?
  • I think it's each to their own so if it works for you then go for it, I am certainly not criticising, I am just wondering.... Are all of these health benefits due to cutting out sugar or can some be attributed to eating a more nutritious diet?
  • Ouch! I agree with @kommodevaran do not let age become another excuse. I started C25k last August and ran my first 5k a week after my 41st birthday in October 2016. Yesterday I ran 10k, admittedly with a 15 minute break in the middle but still not bad for someone who's never run more than 5. I also personally agree with…
  • It's not a silly thing to say at all. You've probably been concentrating on these goals for quite some time so now that you've reached them you feel that your sense of 'purpose' in this aspect of your life has gone. But I agree with @Ironandwine69 and @sllm1 you need to refocus somewhere else. Is there a fitness goal or…
  • I started off on 1200 calories a day and I was absolutely fine. I found that it definitely did depend on how I was reaching 1200, lots of nutritious, filling foods and fruit and veg meant I was never hungry and if you're canny there still is room for a small amount of chocolate ;) I initially would lose around 2/3lbs a…
  • I can't really add anything new. Can your son help out with buying groceries? We meal plan for the week and order our groceries online, it saves so much time, although I appreciate it isn't for everyone. It does mean that we don't buy superfluous foods therefore saving money and minimising the risk of eating extra.
  • Um, really sorry but we don't all NEED to cheat. That's not to say that 'cheat days' don't work for some... I guess I'm just not a fan of the wording. Are we saying we all need to overeat now and again or temporarily lose our accountability for that period of time as that's a truer statement of what's happening? I'm 100%…
  • That's what she said!!!! :D
  • No-one has actually asked what you're eating. I could eat 2000 calories of generic fast food and it wouldn't keep me full. Are you eating a balanced and varied diet? Are you spreading it out over the day? Are the meals/snacks nutritious? It may be worth looking at this. When I started I stuck to 1200 calories and don't…
  • Just had to look this diet up as had never heard of it before.....wt actual f???? This is the first paragraph from one site: 'In order to be successful on the HCG weight loss protocol, not only is it important to follow the guidelines set forth by Dr. Simeon, but it is imperative that you follow and maintain a very low…
  • I think it's hard if you're planning on going back to the type of diet and lifestyle you had before and expect to keep the weight off. I overhauled so much during the process that I can't imagine going back to what I used to eat, how little I moved and my general outlook on life. After 31 months of maintenance I'm falling…
  • A niece on my husbands side was pregnant and we were all at a party that my mum in law was hosting and a family friend asked if I was due to have my baby around the same time as my niece.....a small part of me died that day. But as trite as it sounds it's made me stronger. I've been in maintenance since August 2014 on a…
  • Ugly runs are crappy, I feel you there, but as the others have said you did it regardless and you didn't quit so be proud of yourself!!!! :) It's so easy for us to go straight to the negative and overshadow the positive, something we all need to work on.....

  • Reading this just made me realise quite how much I snack - I just don't think about it as snacking I guess! So on a typical day I have a banana between breakfast and lunch, a tangerine and a little chocolate or almonds mid afternoon, some twiglets or salt and vinegar peanuts when I get home from work then after dinner…
  • There's a difference between 'best before' and 'use by'. They're quite self explanatory so if it's just a best before they should be fine :)
  • I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery :) But please don't think that the surgery alone will make you healthy. Now is your opportunity to feed your body nutritionally - what you put into it is exceedingly important to promote good health. I would imagine that as you have had the surgery you would already have a…
  • I understand how it could possibly encourage 'obsessional' behaviours for some people but I do not understand how the app can be blamed for binge eating. Stating it's 'making me binge eat' could appear as if you're not taking accountability for what you're eating and are just focusing on something else to blame. This may…
  • Wow, well done you!!!! Great post :) Keep up the amazing work and attitude!
  • I had smoked for 26 years (from the age of 11) and was smoking around 20-30 roll ups per day - I knew enough was enough so I started using Champix and stopped smoking after 10 days, at this point I had started reading Allen Carrs Easyway to Stop Smoking. After 14 days I had to quit the Champix as I was feeling so dog sick…
  • Take your time, don't beat yourself up if you put on a bit to start - it will take a while to see what suits you, weigh regularly and set an upper limit and if you reach it address it then (don't leave it for another 5, 10, 20 lbs), don't go calorie crazy, keep moving. You HAVE got this. You've done amazingly so don't let…
  • Moringa powder.....vomitus stuff!!!
  • Precision Engineered Whey Protein in Strawberry is my go to...
  • Hi. I use Precision Engineered Whey Protein. I buy it from Holland and Barrett when they have the penny sale on :D I am unsure as to the prices anywhere else or online. I do a half hour workout before work and I tend to drink the Strawberry one with almond milk after this and then I eat my breakfast when I get to work. If…
  • Lot of use of the word 'normal' here. You also actually lost your bragging rights when you made the statement that your 14 year old daughter wasn't normal.....
  • Welcome :) You will definitely get lots of support here. Good luck!
