Hi everyone! Glad to see these groups are still going strong. I haven't joined these threads for months - maybe even more than a year - but I am looking for more tools to help me stop drinking. I know this thread is more about moderation, but that hasn't worked for me so my goal is complete abstinence. I just know this…

Hi, everyone. It's been some time since I joined this thread but I am happy to be back. Like so many of us, I've had an awful two+ years. On top of the pandemic, I have dealt with grief, depression and anxiety, all of which have been made harder/worse by alcohol. And, no surprises here, but I've gained about 15 lbs. My…

I use it occaisionally for sleep. I find it works better than melatonin...but sometimes almost too much better!

Your face in the last pic says it all! Way to go!!

"I don't mean to be rude, but I'm not a very chatty person. It's nothing personal but I just want to focus on my workout." You don't owe him anything, not even an apology. If he reacts negatively, that's on him. It may be uncomfortable for a few seconds, but it will save you all the grief he would have caused if you don't…

I recently switched to mostly vegetarian but I still eat eggs and cheese. Feel free to add me as a friend - I have an open diary.

Not doing too badly so far, but could tone it down on the weekends. I've been doing well with not drinking during the week with the exception of a couple nights where I've had one or two drinks on a Thursday. So far 13/20 days completely AF, two days with one drink and five days 3+. What helps: distractions, feeling…

My BMI is about 25. Depending on who you ask, that's in the normal-slightly overweight range. Currently my RHR is mid-60s. When I'm training for a race, it dips into the 50s. I consider myself fit/athletic but could stand to lose a few lbs of body fat due to too much drinking over the last year.

Not ok Hanging out in MFP forums when you should be working

Staying motivated is a big challenge for most people. I journal, so sometimes I will go back to older journals when I wrote while I was feeling motivated to remind myself why I was doing it back then. Then I'll reassess my goals, write down what worked in the past, ask myself why I'm doing it this time and then journal…

You can also try an app to help you. There are lots - I use Zero. It helps me track my fasting period (right now just doing about 14/8) and it comes with articles, tips, videos and more for the beginner IF'er.

All right - so the graph on the macros page represents what you have already entered into your diary. It doesn't represent at all what you have left to eat. At this point, 54% of your calories have come from carbs, but your goal is to have 50% of your calories come from carbs. Same goes for protein and fat. So as you…

I'm not sure what you mean by nutrition page and macro page. Do you have a Prime membership or a free membership?

Definitely OK so long as they aren't marathon naps (i.e. longer than 45 minutes or so...unless you're sick) Sexting (relatively PG) your ex when you're married but have no intention of ever revisiting IRL

Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist. Dietitians are the ones who went to school for it and are certified.

This is more about change room etiquette, and while not my #1 piece of advice, it's top of mind because there's a woman who does this every morning in the change room: If you're showering at the gym, bring a towel. Don't waste an entire roll of paper towel to dry yourself off every single day because you're too lazy to…

Following again. Not sure I'm going to do a dry January but definitely cutting back significantly. Nothing since NYE and so far feeling good. I miss this group :) Had a bit of a craving last Friday, but it subsided. On Saturday, hubby wanted wine, and I was already running errands so I told him I would grab him a bottle.…

Finally weighed myself after weeks of indulging and was not surprised to see that I’m at the heaviest I’ve ever been. I have no excuses now - I needed to see that number on the scale. I know it’s not just about that - it’s about how you feel, how your clothes fit, etc. But I don’t feel great, my close are tight and I’m the…

I gained 5 lbs or so (hadn’t weighed myself for several weeks until today so not totally sure). I totally asked for it though. Had beers almost every night the last week and a bit and of course holiday treats. I now weigh the most I’ve ever weighed (mind you only by two lbs) which is exactly the kick in the *kitten* I…

Everything Danp said, but perhaps I can add one more part about working out once you're ready. The best advice I ever received, and firmly believe, is to find something you're going to be able to stick with. Try new things and find out what you like, and then make sure it fits your scheduling needs. For example, if you…

You really should go see a professional for this. Some things can't be resolved over the internet. Trust me - this comes from someone who went through something similar.
