I've been off IP for a couple years... managed to put back on around 30 lbs. I'd like to get back on it and take it off again (and drop my 'I just lost 60lbs I can eat whatever I want' attitude....) Has anyone else been off the diet and finding it extremely difficult to begin again?

I gave it up one year for Lent... but I found myself drinking Coke in the mornings to put off the head aches. Don't consider that truly giving it up though as I just switched to something else. It still sucked.

I added the link to my original post.

There was a report on Science Daily (attack them, not me) that published a report that with "SOME" people, found their metabolisms slowed down between meals. So the more smaller meals they ate the higher amount of calories they had throughout the day (tdee). If you're one of these people, skipping meals will lower your…

I did my very first chin up (in my life) over the weekend.

JohnnyMoo dot com has drops for coffee (like Mio) that are zero calorie. Check those out.

And yes.. you need to reconfigure them each time you lose weight.
-
Yes, you need to configure it in the set up for your sex/age/height/weight. I have a polar and find it's a little quirky. You need to subtract your TDEE from the numbers (mine is around 100 per hour) and it also appears to inflate the number to make you feel good about doing something (I put this at 100). When I do mixed…
-
Yes and no. I knew it screwed me up because I weigh everything when I'm eating and make those numbers as accurate as possible yet everything else (TDEE and exercise) are a crap shoot and a guess at best. When I bought my HRM (Polar FT) I thought it was going to give me accurate numbers but, after looking at the numbers -…

Math skills aside... someone pointed out to me once, if you're maintaining at 2200 per day, that's probably 100 an hour just breathing. If you work out for an hour and your 'highly accurate machine' says you burned 500 then you'll need to remove the 100 for being alive, which brings it to 400 you actually burned (or remove…

Pickles helped me... and sweet banana peppers.

Me too... and I'm having some. I don't trust the numbers in the database and know it will throw me over for the day. It's worth it, one meal isn't going to wreck my life or goals. :)

On a good day I have 30-40g of carbs and 135g of protein. I found lowering my carbs removed the 'sluggish' feeling I often had and always feeling 'hungry'. I won't "not" eat something that is high in carbs (bread, potatoes, rice, etc) I just leave them out of my daily food rotation.

Ideal Protein is a low carb, low fat diet. There is also a group on MFP also. Our IP Clinics here have a doctor on staff along with the coaches. I believe Pro Energy is also low carb, low fat. Also... you won't find a lot of support on the main forums for anything that isn't CICO.

We also call hoodies bunny hugs or kangaroo jackets (if they have a zipper). Damn farming province. :) But back to 'tank tops'. For me it's a hygiene thing. If it's socially unacceptable to have a few arm pit hairs floating about, a person is probably best off not wearing one.
-
This thread had me confused for the longest time. We call them muscle shirts. Tank taps are the ones cut off at the bottom of your ribs and I couldn't understand why people were wanting these..... You can wear them as an under shirt (as well as a t shirt). Or any time you feel slobbish - like sweat pants or when working…

Do you really need to comment on _every_single_post_ It's people like you that piss off new people and drive them away.

Your calories will be lower on the IP diet (probably why it's doctor monitored). There is a forum here for Ideal Protein you should search for - in the main forums you're going to have nothing but ignorant comments from people who think they know better even though they don't know what the program is.

I bought my scale off Amazon - all the reviews said it was consistent (which to me was a perk as my old scale never gave the same reading twice). The reviews were correct, it is consistent... however.. When you step on it the first time the weight is higher then if you let it reset and stand on it again. At that point, it…

One of the selling points for me buying my Polar FT4 was that I didn't have to rely on a mobile device to read the information (I refuse to own a cellular phone). I manually enter my numbers into MFP to track it - only takes a second. I know it doesn't add much, but if it did sync with MFP or any other website I wouldn't…

I have one and it's done that once or twice. It's a common complaint for these monitors. I recall someone saying that the problem is in the contact with your skin and there's a gel you can use that corrects it.

It was my post on March 15th before Mr Fasting jumped in and started trolling. But yeah... I avoid the main forums before low carbers are treated like crap. I guess I should avoid the low carber forums because people who follow different programs are treated like crap. And a good day to you! ;)

I didn't ask for help, I just answered a question. Maybe you missed the part where I mentioned I was on a structured "recognized" laid out diet. But you're right, strangers on a message board are more familiar with my history, know why I'm on the program, and know best. ;) So..... kindly P.O. :)

Wow, the trolls are hungry today. Note to self... stop feeding them.

Random guy on Internet tells me to stop eating my meat, salad and vegetables. Why yes, yes I will take your advice to switch that for real food B) lol Actually, the most ironic part is that it's coming from someone who promotes "fasting" on their profile page.

I cheap out with them. lol I've been using the Chocolate Body Fortress from Walmart (whey protein isolate). It's a fraction of the cost from buying the shakes from the program I'm on (Ideal Protein diet). The taste is acceptable for the money saved. One scoop is 130 cals, 3g of carbs, 1g of fibre and 30g of protein).…

Sorry - this is my protein on a typical day. 8 oz's are dedicated to meat. Morning shake: 30g Lunch shake: 30g Lunch Veggies: 5g Afternoon snack: 27g Supper: 45g Supper Veggies: 5g Works out closely to the formula of .75g per pound of body weight.
-
Ideal Protein doesn't recommend it - however, some people need to take it to stay... ummm... regular - and they don't want to be taking pills. When you look at the numbers, 1 tbsp: 55 calories 3g carbs 2.8g of fiber Once you cancel the fiber from the carbs you are only consuming 0.2g of carbs per tablespoon. This is…

The diet I follow is low carb, low fat, high protein (8 oz of meat per day). The lack of carbs is what put you into ketosis. On a side note, a person can eat high amounts of carbs and through exercise burn enough to put themselves into ketosis.

I've drank coffee in the shower but never eaten food.
