Congrats on signing up for IMAZ! Hope the training is going smoothly for you. In my experience the folks on here aren't the best on understanding the endurance training of IM in relation to weight loss, have you looked on beginnertriathlete.com? There are a lot of nutrition articles on there and tons of IM specific forums.

I am in too, thank you!

Every pound of body fat that is gone increases your speed by a certain amount. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but it's significant - like 20 seconds per mile, maybe? That said, losing lean muscle mass would have the opposite affect. So make sure it's fat and not lean muscle!

I found that it went away eventually. I always have a cup of coffee and toast before i run in the mornings and it doesn't bother me anymore! Good luck!

Just ask the instructor for help, they will adjust the seat and explain how it should be!

I certainly don't limit my calories on long run days. But like others have said, I spread it out among the next couple of days, I get monster hungry the next 2 days.

Just another vote for going to a store like Fleet Feet!

That was a question you needed to ask those 2 doctors you saw....call them.

I track them. But I don't replace until I start feeling pains. I like knowing its the shoes and not pain from an injury that I need to worry about.

Got one over here! Feel free to friend me.

Well, there is something going on. See your doctor Friday, they'll probably run some blood work and can get you answers. Fingers crossed it's easily fixed! Good luck.

Do you still have the package? That will tell you how many servings are in a container and you can figure it out from there.

Switching between strokes is not only a good way to 'rest' but also works different muscles and will help prevent overuse injuries. You could try holding a kickboard with one hand, arm fully extended while using the other arm to take freestyle strokes normally. Then you can practice breathing to that side. If you are just…

I find eating beans really fills me up. The fiber and protein in them is a great substitute. If meat is gross for you, I would try upping your bean intake.

Depends on your goal. If you just want to finish it no matter how long it takes, you can totally do it in 4-5 months. I know, because I did it. However, if you want to have a great time, and include speed work in your training, then take your time! Train for smaller events and work your way up.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it is "safe". It can absolutely cause problems with your GI system and urinary system. The other issue with taking it before a run is that you're more likely to push through pain that you don't know is there. As in, all the warning pain saying "hey, such and such is really injured, not just…

I couldn't bring myself to run more than a mile, and I felt like death was knocking every time. Then I signed up for Team in Training and registered for a full marathon. It wasn't the prettiest marathon I"ll ever do, but I did it. The coach and mentors really helped (along with the all important consistent training). Now I…

Loved it! Thanks for sharing!

@hotmummy definitely hang out!

That sounds like a great idea, as long as the math works out and you keep the recovery weeks, I think you'd be golden! Good luck with your training!!

Third year medical student here, definitely gained some weight sitting and studying all day! Working really hard to lose it again, long hours standing in surgery is helping with that. And I agree about it not showing my weight loss because I was smaller when I first joined a couple years ago!

It occurs to me that I wasn't looking at a beginner plan, how short were the running distances in the beginning? I think beginnertriathlete is fantastic resource all around. I've done a sprint and an olympic. Currently training for my first half ironman in june! Right now I'm doing the 8 week maintenance plan with bike…

Invite him for protein shakes and a walk

Confident and cute

I agree with the above. There is a reason doctors spend years and years in school....

9.5 wish there was a face!

What distance tri are you looking at?

I use beginnertriathlete too. And from what I've learned, it's best to stick with the plan. When you're adding in all that biking you won't need to run as much as you're probably running now. And your body needs time to recover from the difficult workouts. But give it a shot and see how it goes! I love that website.

I think your formula is broken...
