Someone was stealing from my bottle of V8. So I taped a dollar bill to the bottle and wrote, "Here's some money. Buy your own bottle."

Use Minute Brown Rice. Takes less time than regular white rice and tastes pretty good.

I started losing prior to using MFP, and I wanted to see my total loss, not just since MFP. MFP allows you to go back in time and set your SW to whatever you want on any date.

My English-as-a-second language Russian friend said, "What happened? There used to be two Mikes, now there is only one Mike!" I about fell over laughing.

I'm a Christian and added a bunch of you all. Go ahead and add me if I missed you!

Chocolate flavored (not coated!) almonds. They have cinnamon, too.

Go with MFP (sorry). When I was 306 lbs two months ago, MFP and a couple of other apps all sindicated walking is about ten calories per minutes. Or, as Najay said and others will certainly say, get a heart rate monitor. Related apps like MapMyFitness work well (it interfaces with MFP), and FitBits are popular, which also…

I successfully substituted eight seltzer water (carbonated water) a day for eight beers a day. What I did obviously was replace the habit of cracking open and consuming a twelve ounce can of a carbonated beverage; this wouldn't work for an alcoholic (not implying you are one, as you stated it's not about the alcohol). Now…

A lot of the ladies' "after" pictures are so cute. But it's creepy for me, a 53 year old fat (for now) guy to say so.

I hope I look that good when I get to 246! I've gone from 306 to 268 so far.

I cut my beer intake form 50 a week to about three per week. But I don't think I could have done that as a stand alone. Eliminating the beer as part of an overall reduction in caloric intake made it much easier. Walking up to five miles a day made the reduction in calories easy. So for me, all the parts work well together,…

Good for you! I did not need MFP friends for support either. But I sure am glad I started adding them, it makes weight loss fun! Lots of really nice people, and you learn stuff from them. I will add you.

I see a skinny guy in the mirror. I've gone from 306 to 269 in two months. But a 269 lb skinny guy? What will I see when I drop below 200?

I have been consistently losing 4 pounds a week for nine weeks. Several times I "gained" 1.5 to 2.0 pounds overnight. Yeah, I get upset when I see that too, but my net loss over any seven day period remains at four lbs. Don't worry about it, probably the sodium/water thing everyone else has cited.

Good luck; I will add you!

Great job so far, keep it up! Lots of support here.

I've never had a friend with tattoos, so I sent you a request :)

Great job on losing your first 18! I will send you a friend request.

I was trying a version of the 5.2 and it was okay. But I find trying to beat my MFP calorie goal on a daily basis works much better for me. The fasting was okay until I get home from work, then I just got too obsessive. Friend my if you like!

We all need friends, don't we? I know I do. I will add you.

The nice thing about MyFitnessPal is that you do not need to do a "diet." You just need to ensure that by the end of the day the calories of your entries are lower than the calories of your goal.

I will be your friend!

I will be your friend!

I will be your friend! Lord knows I need 'em, too!

Good luck, Sayuri!

I need friends too; just sent you a request!

It seems that depression may be in part due to a lack of self-confidence and pride. For me at least, I take immense pride in beating my calorie goal on a daily basis. Then losing the weight boosts my pride even more. Think about that and good luck!

Most people will have their drinks later in the day. I check MyFitnessPal: if the calories from the drink I am contemplating will put me over my limit, I pass. Staying under my limit means more to me than having the drink. I take immense pride in beating my daily calorie goal. I know this won't work for everyone, but it…
