Wow! Congrats on your huge accomplishment so far. What a difference. You should be very proud of yourself. Keep up the great work!

I do eat most of my exercise calories but it depends on the day. Mondays tend to be my highest workout day 2.5 hours of exercise but since I don't have a monitor to tell me the exact # of calories burned, I try to just guess so I ususally don't eat them all. I have not measured my BMI so I don't know if that has changed or…

Thanks for the advice. I made a dr. appointment for later this month. Hopefully nothing is wrong but then again, if it is, at least I will know what to do next. I don't want to keep working out this hard for no results.

I finished my first 1/2 marathon on May 22. I was slower than I hoped to be (2:29) but it was a hot day, with more hills than I expected and a sore hip to deal with. I am just glad I finished. Since then however, my runs have been really bad. The longest I have made it is 6 miles since the 13.1 race. I feel so exhausted…

Thanks to all of you for the congrats! It does feel good - and a bit surreal that it's actually over. I am kind of bummed that I don't have a current goal to work towards.

I sort of followed Hal Higdon's half marathon training but did some adjustments to it to make it work for me. I trained on my own the entire time so maybe that was my downfall. It may have been better to have a running club or running partner so someone was there to push me. I thought I would be the hardest on myself but I…

Thank you everyone for the support and advice! This website is awesome and so are all of you!!!!! Your encouragement is priceless! I will keep plugging away and pray for good weather over the upcoming weekends so I can try to bump up my long runs to 11 or 12 miles, or at least try to feel more comfortable with the 10…

Thanks for the feedback. I tried on a number of pairs and I think I am leaning towards these.

I am no where near ready for a full marathon, but I am running a 1/2 (my first ever) in Gurnee in May at KeyLime Cove. Just thought I would let you know in case you wanted a practice marathon to prep yourself for the big one in Chicago. Good luck!

Great questions! I am training for my first 1/2 marathon in May and have been trying to find these answers online and haven't had any luck. I am most scared of not fueling myself properly (or fueling myself too much before the race which can cause more problems!). Hopefully once I start getting to the long runs of 10 miles…

Exactly what I was going to say!
-
Me too! Body soreness just comes with the territory. But it never hurts during the workouts so to me that means keep going! :)
-
Oops- I meant to say 373 days straight of running for me and still going!
-
I am exactly the same way. I am now up to 373 of running every single day for the calorie burn and exercise. I have never felt better. Yes, my muscles get sore, but ususally only after my weight classes once a week on top of the running. If I didnt have a cardio work out every day, I would never be able to stay under my…

Congrats on finishing your first 1/2 marathon. What an amazing accomplishment! I am running my very first one this May and am already terrified about it! I am so nervous that I won't finish. I have done only 1 5k and 1 10k and did well with both of those but a 1/2 marathon is something I never imagined being able to do. Be…

Thank you so much everyone!!!! I really appreciate all the great feedback and support! I am in IL so weather is crummy here too so there were MANY, MANY days of treadmill runs instead of pavement. (Actually, the majority was treadmill runs) but I averaged 4.5 miles a day so I'll take it! I never imagined myself being a…

I do drink a ton of water- all day. I would say probably 4-5 water bottles ful (which is at least 80 oz a day. I feel like that should be enough. Never thought about the thyroid question. I know my mom has had issues in the past with her thyroid. I may have to look into that. I will probably consider taking a day off of…

Thanks so much everyone for your responses. It sounds like the overall consensus is that I may be working out too much and may not be eating enough. I do feel like I am always starving which I am sure is because of the amount of excersize I am getting. But, I am afraid to not excersize too. If I am gaining while doing this…

You look AMAZING! You have given me inspiration too. I have done a 5k and a 10k and have secretly been considering a half marathon someday and you make me think I may actually be able to do it! Great job!! You are beautiful!
-
Love it. We have great family time geocaching in the forest preserves, while hiking and "treasure hunting" as my kids call it. It's a great form of excersize for the whole family!
-
I love my Asics running shoes. Not sure how much they would cost for you but I bought them in IL for only $35. Great running shoes that didn't even need to be broken in.

When you know where every outhouse/ public restroom is where your outdoor runs take place.
-
Everyday so I can eat more! :)
-
Congrats! You are doing an amazing job! Keep up the great work!
-
Thanks so much everyone!!!!!! I am still so excited about it and shocked that I could do it!!!!!!!! Half marathon next? Just kidding!
-
Thank you all so much for the support and advice! I GREATLY appreciate it. I definitely want my goal to be- just to finish (with very little walking or no walk breaks) but mainly just to cross that finish line. I can't wait to have that satisfaction. Now I just need to find a way to settle my nerves over the next 9 days. I…

Great question! I have been wondering the same thing and look forward to hearing some answers.

Congrats on your health! You are inspiration!
