Just logging the walking at a brisk pace MFP says 465 calories at my current weight. I agree and because I don't like negativity I guess that leaves me open for attacks from people who thrive on it. I would rather have support and offer support then be a negative influence. I'm a happier person for it.

Perfectly fine because I surround myself with positive people who are blunt without being a**holes. You can offer advice without being mean about it and while some members on here are helpful some are downright nasty just because they like being that way. I suppose you must be one of them. I agree but it's easier said than done in the beginning. I won't even buy a scale because I know I'd be checking it constantly. I'm a very impatient person so I'm working on that but still want to do some kind of exercise every day even if it's just a long slow walk.

I definitely look like the dog! I could walk all day and I mean all day if i had the time. I only have an hour to an hour and a half in the mornings to walk/run before I have to be back home. I may just try to improve my distance as long as my knees will allow and work on HIIT running later on.

I'm glad to hear short steps are ideal because they are the only ones I have. I guess I just feel like I'm pushing my short legs as fast as they will go while other people look like gazelles. I won't let it deter me from running because I actually prefer being outside running than on the elliptical.

Swimming and using an elliptical are good options. I tried yoga and it wasn't for me either. I did Pilates once upon a time and it was actually fun.

I've switched to lowfat string cheese, slices, and block cheese. There is always room for cheese!
