  • Willpower is finite, so make sure you done wear it out resisting food your roomie is eating. :-( That said, I think its also something that gets easier the more you practice. Maybe come up with reasons you DONT want the foods he's eating. Ex. I don't eat cheetos because they are *so* high in fat, and the color of that…
  • Hi! If you notice that you want to go to McD's at a specific time, or on a specific day, set an event in your phone with an alarm that says "Obesity Hazard Zone" and use that to remind yourself of your willpower and to do something else, like call a friend, or log-in to MFP :-) Hope that helps! I use it with Jack in the…
  • I didn't have any weight issues with mine, but I did get a huge ovarian cyst. I had the doctor's remove it against recommendations (apparently it was not the cause of my cyst, but I couldn't feel safe with it in). It was really easy to have them remove it. I did still have periods with it. Now I have Mirena, and I have…
  • Fiber can help keep you full, maybe you could start keeping track of fiber instead of sugar? Also, you're eating a lot of fat in comparison to protein and carbs, so maybe if you cut down a little on the fats and added in some carbs &/or proteins you would feel more satiated after you eat. I like eating non-fat yogurt (it…
  • Hi everyone! I have about 40lbs (18kg) to lose. I am down 10 from my current start weight. I have been tracking my food religiously and walking/running daily. When it starts getting too dark to run in the evenings I plan to start going to the gym for the weights more often. :-) I would love to have any motivational friends…
  • Unfortunately, the lighter you get, the less calories you burn per mile. :-(
  • Hi! I'm looking for weight loss friends too. I'm 5'3" and weigh 158lbs. Goal weight is between 125lbs and 115bs. ::smile:
  • I like the fitbit app and website. The reason I use mfp is for the community, and that "if you ate like this for 5 weeks you would weigh XXXlbs" The fitbit cal count works just fine, and has similar exercise adjustments to MFP. I like that though. Plus theres a widget that you can use with fitbit too. :-) good luck! (PS. I…
  • I weigh myself everyday and write it on my calendar. BUT, I only count Sundays as my log-able weight. For me, not wanting to get on the scale is a sign that I need to get back on the wagon, like a bell weather. But I don't take small fluctuations seriously, so it doesn't psych me out like it does some people.
  • Hi! Age: 26 Height: 5'3 SW/HW: 170lbs CW: 157lbs GW: 125-115lbs (Whatever feels healthiest in that range)
  • Every couple months I will choose a month and completely go cold turkey on sugar. So I did no-sugar-january, and I'm currently doing no-sugar-june/july/august. It really helps me to completely avoid it sometimes. Plus since its not forever, I can always convince myself that I'll eat ice cream or whatever when the month is…
  • I like having a drink to sip on while I drive. I usually either get a non-fat cappuccino or a latte (no sugar). Do you eat the whole 2-3 hours like munchie food? or do you just need a meal while you drive?
  • I have to wear 2 bras for any workout that isn't yoga. It hurts to have the bounce. I've forgotten in the past, gone out for a run only to turn around and go home to fix the problem. And it doesn't matter high end or low end bras, they all need to be double bra-ed. What is it with the lame bra choices though? Smaller sizes…
  • I would really welcome some motivational buddies as well!
  • Also, I've heard of people using a weekly average instead of a daily count. It might make you feel better to distribute your excess calories over the week and do it that way. For example, my MFP says I should eat 1200cals, but I usually eat closer 1400 because of exercise etc. So 1400calsX7days/wk=9800calories/wk. So when…
  • Hi! I have PCOS too, but I don't have any insulin resistance yet. I'm assuming thats why you are concerned about carbs. Instead of just cutting carbs across the board, have you considered treating it like diabetes instead? Do you have a blood sugar tester? You could see which carbs make your blood sugar spike and which…
  • I overate by about an extra 2,000 calories on saturday, and I made sure that I tracked every last one of them. It was super painful, but I did it anyway. Then on Sunday, I made some pretty bad choices too, but I didn't go over calories, and today I tried to make better choices and I came in with my regular calorie count…
  • Hi! I have PCOS and although I'm not insulin resistant, I'm the only one in my family who has avoided diabetes. I've considered requesting metformin, but I don't know that it would actually help anything if I don't have the insulin resistance. It is really hard to budge out of my body's 10lbs comfort zone. I've heard that…
  • I would look into an alternative if you suspect its the whey. There are soy, and hemp, (and apparently rice protein) powders that would give you the boost that you were looking for.
  • I think you are getting a lot of good advice here. I would definitely NOT rule out entire food groups in general. Personally, I avoid added sugar and sugar-like products (because I can't eat 1 portion of ice cream or cookies, I eat all the ice cream etc), so its a trigger for me. But I eat a potato almost every day. I look…
