  • A few years ago: co-worker asked me what I was studying in college. I told him psychology. His response: "Oh cool so you can, like, read peoples minds and see ghosts or whatever?" I was too embarrassed for him to call him out, so I just said, "Uh, I want to be a therapist..." and left it at that.
  • Definitely don't skimp on the post-workout stretches. I used to, because I'm an impatient little *kitten*, and I was always so sore the next day that I couldn't sit down or stand up without sounding like my grandma. "Ooooh my poor back/legs/knees!" Since I've started devoting 3-5 minutes to stretching at the end of my…
  • Once upon a time, I ate egg whites only to cut down on the calories. But that was a sad, sad time. Whole eggs 4evs. Also, apparently it's a thing to add pasteurized egg whites to smoothies as an extra protein boost. I feel like the consistency would be hella weird, though.
  • During the school year (college student here) I use protein smoothies as a breakfast replacement because I never wake up in time to fix myself a full meal before class. It doesn't help me lose weight, but it does keep me full throughout the day while in class. I just do whey protein + frozen fruit + milk. I'm no expert but…
  • Water. For me, it was an acquired taste. Which sounds silly, considering it doesn't really taste like anything. But I started just drinking it during my workouts, and found that after a couple of weeks, I was actually favoring it over my previously loved herbal teas and diet soda. I still have the occasional diet soda or…
  • Ohhh, yeah. You'll never catch me eating a regular chicken wing or whatever. The idea that I might actually bite into the bone...ACK! Boneless wings all the way.
  • I can only eat vegetables in a few ways. NEVER raw; the texture of raw veggies triggers my gag reflex like none other. I've blended certain veggies like carrots and kale into smoothies. This can be either awesome or disgusting depending on how high quality your blender is. The cheapos tend to leave bite size pieces…
  • You look wonderful! Awesome job. :flowerforyou:
  • No kidding! Middle school was the worst for me. Was bullied endlessly. I ended up going out of district for high school. Did the lone wolf thing with the exception of two good friends. Was much, much better.
  • Not OP, but I never considered mixing egg whites with broth. Great idea! Thanks. :flowerforyou:

  • Wowza that is not cheap. Have you looked into whether there are any RD's in your area that would take your insurance?
  • Some people don't consider fish meat because it isn't warm blooded. I personally think this is silly though, because I mean, what is it then? A vegetable?
  • 1.) I consider my first meal of the day to be my breakfast, even if said meal is eaten at 2 PM. So, yes (in case you're curious, I do all of my workouts fasted). 2.) I've lost 5 lbs. (not trying to lose anymore) 3.) I've never researched it and I don't really care, honestly.
  • Hey! Nice to hear from someone else in the same boat. Yes, bumping the calories up so much is pretty anxiety-inducing for me too, but I'm keeping the faith. From what I've read, this is going to be a pretty long process, so patience is the key. We can do it, though. Go us!
  • In the past I would chain smoke and fall giggling into the arms of the nearest drag queen. Since I quit smoking, though, I haven't had a drink. Just because I'm not into drinking at home and going out to bars is still too tempting, in regards to lighting up.
  • I don't change the pants I wear. They still fit fine, but if I'm bloated I get a lil a muffin top that I'll try to hide with a baggy top.
  • Thanks. I'm gonna work on this. I think that my biggest problem is that I KNOW what it is I need to be doing, but I get myself all anxious over whether or not it will work, fearing that I'll do the wrong thing and end up back at square one. I definitely need to work on my mentality. Perhaps stay away from the scale for a…
  • I'm currently only doing body weight training and lifting with dumbbells at home. I do 8 sets of 20 sec. on with 10 sec. off for each exercise I do. I don't know if it's considered working to failure, but say during my first set of lateral raises, I can bang out 12 reps, but by my 8th set I can only manage 4. I do the same…
  • According to my calculations you're not overweight; your BMI is in the normal range. You don't need to lose weight, and to be perfectly honest I'm not really comfortable encouraging someone recovering from a restrictive ED to do so. Are you working with a therapist or a dietician? I honestly believe this should be the…
  • This reminded me off the time I went in search of a flow to help PMS and it was going really well until about 20 min. in when the lady said, "breathe deeeeeply....into your womb....smile...into your cervix..." and I was all, :noway:
  • Forever 21 is my go-to simply because I shop there for regular clothes all the time, might as well get workout stuff there too (for the free shipping, obvs). Though I should say, a lot of their workout clothes are meant to be more fashionable than functional, I think. Like, workout shorts there are booty shorts. Teeny…
  • First off, congrats on your progress! Now, about not going to get togethers: perhaps you could prepare and bring a dish with you - something big enough for everyone, like you might do at a potluck. As for when your family invites you out last minute, that's a tough one, but honestly if that happened to me I would have no…
  • Are you sure you're not overestimating your calorie burn? That sounds pretty high for someone who isn't overweight. Your BMI is in the normal range. I think that often, people who are thin but want to lose a few "vanity pounds" have a hard time because our bodies don't want to lose the weight; our bodies are like, "um…
  • Bahahaha, yes, that's perfect!
  • I agree with everyone saying it depends on the person. Here's what my day looks like: Breakfast: 550 calories Lunch: 250 calories Snacks: 250 calories Dinner: 450 calories Breakfast is my largest meal of the day simply because I eat it right after my workout, and my workouts always leave me feeling particularly ravenous. I…
  • !!!!!!!! QFT.
  • ^^^ truth. i always start out with a tank top on, but around mile 2 it gets torn the eff off because it's sticking to me and I start feeling slimy. I get just as many stares with the shirt vs without it.
  • Gah, I remember being scared to start working out in my 10th grade P.E. class because I had heard that if you start exercising for a while and then stop, your muscle will turn to fat. And no, of course I didn't ask my P.E. teacher if this was true. Because I was 15 and I knew EVERYTHING, duh. I passed that class…
  • Love fireworks! We're only allowed the little ones that sit on the ground, you know like the "fountain" ones and stuff. If you want the ones that go boom up in da sky, you have to buy a permit and set them off in a designated area (i.e. not in your backyard). But the city does put on a glorious show on the 4th downtown,…
