  • Right now I do 2089 on workout days and 1689 on rest days. I was doing 1400 for a long time without any progress (and definitely not getting stronger) and my coach suggested I was eating too low to fuel my body correctly for the amount of exercise I do, which makes your body store extra fat for energy since it is not…
  • I have to have mine open so my coaches can go in and see it and tweak my macros to my goals accordingly. But I've always had it open regardless, I don't really care if people see or not. But I like when others have theirs open so I can get ideas from other people. Helps me get new ideas and think outside my box.
  • @middlehaitch Ah yes you're right it's a NEAT calculator. I was eating back my exercise calories, but for me personally it was still too low. I have seen people use it as a TDEE calculator though and use 1200 calories as their limit and try to stay under it, even on exercise days and imo 1200 is already pretty low. But as…
  • You can still lose on that much. When I used the MFP calculator it gave me the typical 1200 calories and I followed it for a long time and actually gained weight. When evaluating with a nutrition coach turns out I was under-eating and not consuming enough to properly fuel my body, which makes your body store extra fat for…
  • It depends on your activity. If you are working out more then yes, this will help increase your metabolism. Having more muscle helps your metabolism as well--the more muscle you have the more fat you burn at rest which speeds up your metabolism. I would use a macro calculator to figure out what your specific macros should…
  • I prefer real food, for pre-workout slow-digesting carbs are the best and I find I'll operate better if I have granola with greek yogurt, or rice cakes with sunflower butter, or kodiak cakes 1-2 hours before I workout. BUT, a few times I will look to a supplement if I'm having a particularly busy day. A protein/granola bar…
  • Yes! Hah I will eat a meal and fell hungry again in half an hour. I also do a lot of activity in the gym so my body needs more fuel to operate, and my metabolism is faster because of it, so I'm almost always hungry. My coaches have me bump up my fats 10g on rest days (since my carbs are 100g lower on rest days) to help a…

  • I had a history of just pumping sets at the gym, which is great, but for me it was boring and I had a hard time challenging myself and didn't look forward to going. I started CrossFit last September. I went in for my first WOD and thought I was in shape, but it kicked my butt! I had to scale the workout since I was a…

  • In my personal experience, the MFP calculator was pretty off and suggested way too little calories for me, and I like to customize my macros more. I use the calculator at iifym.com to get my calorie and macro counts and plug them into the custom settings on MFP, and make sure I am hitting my macros every day and I have…
  • It's hard to say without knowing your activity level or body fat percentage or what your TDEE is. I'd recommend using the calculator on iifym.com, I found it pretty helpful in the amounts it gave me for maintaining.
  • My box did it as the WOD (not unlike almost every other box the day the WOD was released haha). DU's are a hit or miss with me, there are days I can string 30 unbroken together, and then days when I can barely get 2 in a row. The most I got unbroken while doing 14.1 was 13. As for snatches....they are not my strong…

  • I've been at it for almost 6 months now. I love it! I have seen much more progress and strength gains in a 10 minute crossfit workout than I ever did when I'd spend up to two hours in a gym before! Can always feel free to add me. I don't log my crossfit workouts on MFP though because I'm currently using IIFYM for my intake…
  • I wasn't overweight when I began, but I was an average Jane using machines at planet fitness. But it is still the most challenging workout I've done. It really pushes you and I love the challenge. We have all shapes and sizes and levels of fitness at my box. Any workout can be scaled, and there is no shame in scaling a…
  • That's how I feel about it too. In a 10 minute WOD I feel like I am doing so much more than when I would spend 1-2 hours in a gym before. To each their own, but for me, I get the best results from it, am never bored, and I love how challenging each workout is!
  • I use a Polar FT4 whenever I do any weights or exercise and I love it!
  • I started taking Microgestin Fe 1/20 four months ago. I did notice about a month after taking that I increased a cup size, and I did gain ten pounds. But almost two months ago I began my fitness journey. I have been monitoring my calorie intake, staying away from fattening foods and increased my exercise regimen. I was…
  • Me! I live in San Antonio. Moved here 3 years ago from Florida and love it!
