  • Whoops, I missed week one check-in! So I'll stick it here with week two. =) SW: 215.4 (July 3) W1: 211.8 (July 10) CW: 206.2 (July 17) GW: 195.4 (Sept 12) I like the "make this the last time" suggestion! So ... this is my last time to be 206 pounds! =D
  • I'm belatedly in! I actually weighed myself on Sunday, so I even have an official "start weight". =) SW: 215.4 (July 3) CW: 211.2 (July 7) GW:195.4 (Sept. 12)
  • Started at 236, down to 178 (goal 145). =)
  • I call it "Ahem..." under cardiovasuclar. ;-)
  • When I started, I was allotted about 1310 a day ... it gradually dropped as I lost weight, and I've now been at the 1200 mark for quite a while. Salads--with a low-cal dressing--are a great way to fill up with practically no caloric cost. I have a large salad with mixed greens, spinach, and even some chicken or lean ham on…
  • Thank you for sharing this. I have always been terrified of the other people at the gym--my true reason for never joining one, though I'm an expert at creating other, more reasonable-sounding excuses. Heck, I don't even like it when someone drives past me when I'm out jogging in my neighborhood--I always immediately get it…
  • I just had an appointment with the OB/GYN -- they're doing a bunch of lab work, but he suspects PCOS with IR for me. He mentioned a medication to treat the IR and said that it will actually probably help me lose weight. I don't like the idea of medication in general, but I have to admit that that piece of information…
  • My measurements from two weeks ago are down 1.5 - 2.5 inches (depending on which measurement we're talking about), so I would say that it is entirely possible to lose "an inch or two" in a month. I've done it with tracking my intake *and* daily exercise, though--I don't know if you can do it with diet alone.
  • I walked from my high school to my parents' house for the first time, ever. I graduated 14 years ago. My town is NOT walker-friendly, at all. No sidewalks, very few crosswalks. :grumble: We were always bussed to school. It's about 2.5 miles one-way.
  • I work from 5PM until 1:30AM (or later ... I work for an airline, so if flights are delayed, I stay late). During my shift, there is a several-hour-long gap in which I used to sit in the breakroom and stuff my face with whatever was at hand. When I started tracking on MFP, it was REALLY hard to sit in that breakroom and…
  • Defense Language Institute? =) I was there a decade ago--really miss Monterey!
  • SW: 236 CW: 196 GW: 145 July 4: 196
  • That's awesome! Well done! I'm in week one of the 30-day Shred right now, and Jillian is kicking my butt! I've got two of her other DVDs on standby, too. =)
  • Hi, everyone! I'm Shannon, 32-years-old from upstate New York. I've struggled with my weight since high school and have tried all sorts of crazy diets (once, while I was in the Army, I ate nothing but plain lettuce and a couple small strips of grilled chicken for every meal for a week. I dropped seven pounds, but of course…
  • I also weigh-in on Friday mornings, and I take measurements every other Friday. =)
  • Two eggs scrambled with chopped up ham and a slice of Velveeta cheese. Yummmmm...
  • My parents chimed in at 37 pounds lost (so, fairly recently!). My fiance tells me constantly that there's noticeably less of my body around. Aside from that, no one's said anything yet, though I expect when I see some close friends in August for the first time since February, they may notice a difference. =)
  • 53 pounds to go for me! Did the first 38 mostly with diet alone, now I'm adding exercise--hard to stay motivated to get moving during these hot summer months!
  • I'm 5'4.5" (yes, the .5 matters! ) and my goal weight is 145. I'm currently 198. When I graduated Army basic training *cough*fourteen*mumble* years ago, I was 157--I remember seeing myself in a mirror and being shocked that I had an hourglass figure, but still wasn't completely satisfied with where I was (around a…
  • Woo, count me in! Week # 1 – June 30th -- Goal 270 minutes: Mon: 30 minutes circuit training Tue: 20 minutes swimming, 30 minutes circuit training Wed: Thur: Fri: Sat: Sun: Total / min left: 80 / 190
  • I work from 5PM until 2AM, and generally wake up around noon, so my meals don't fall into the traditional ideas of when they should be eaten, either. I consider a "day" for logging purposes to be from the time I wake up until the time I go to bed. So "breakfast" for me will be at 1PM, "lunch" around 4PM, "dinner" is…
  • FiberOne 90-calorie bars--my favorite so far is the Peanut Butter Chocolate one, and I always have a box on hand. They work great as a running-out-the-door breakfast, too. If I have enough calories left over at the end of the day, I sometimes splurge on Skinny Cow Heavenly Delights (110 calories) -- they have a…
  • It's definitely not an issue of losing too much each week--I was worried I might be putting my body into "starvation mode" and hindering my weightloss, since I've lost only one pound in the past two weeks (and my set goal is two pounds per week).
  • My finace is amazing in this regard--a marked difference from men in my past. He goes on walks with me, and he listens attentively as I babble about calories (eaten AND burned)! He also helps keep me on track and reminds me that we want to be able to share a long and healthy life together. He celebrates my successes and…
  • I was very glad to see this scientific post about Aspartame. I have, of course, heard the warnings. I was skeptical, knowing how the internet can sensationalize things, but it did still make me pause (for a nanosecond only, but pause nonetheless) every time I opened a diet soda, which is a staple on my weight-loss journey…
  • Mine just dropped from 1340 to 1280 (darn recalculation for weight lost!). My biggest problem has always been portion control, so I've relied pretty heavily on Lean microwave dinners, Lean Pockets, and other such portioned foods. It really makes tracking a no-brainer. For snacks between meals, I favor FiberOne 90-calorie…
  • On my upper left arm I have the POW/MIA emblem, which was my 19th birthday present to myself. My grandfather was a POW in Germany in WWII, and my cousin is still MIA in Vietnam. I want to get a ring of Snoopys dancing around my ankle (positioned so their heads poke out over the top of my socks when I wear them!), but I…
  • Count me in! =) Sound like fun! We used to do "meltdown" challenges at work, and they're fantastically motivational!
  • Cold Stone Creamery ... Birthday Cake Remix sundae ... "Gotta Have It" size. SOOOOOOO delicious. I knew it would be high-calorie, but I didn't realize exactly HOW high. Oy! Fortunately, I spend the whole afternoon rollerskating, so I *almost* burned it off and *almost* stayed within my goal limits for the day. *Almost.* =D
  • I work shiftwork and do kinda the opposite of this, actually. My "day" is from the moment I wake up (anywhere from 10AM to 3PM) until the moment I go to bed (which is usually well after midnight). I have my diary divided as follows: Wake Up (usually just my vitamin and a cup of fresh fruit as soon as I get out of bed)…
