  • Well...a pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat...afterall, a pound is a pound. But muscle takes up much less space :)
  • 50 ODD Things about me... 1. Do you like blue cheese? I love it, but don't eat it anymore... damn diet! 2. Have you ever smoked a cigarette? I tried once...was told I had to inhale it to do it right...hated it. 3. Do you own a gun? Nope 4. What flavor do you add to your drink at Sonic? Never been to a Sonic 5. Do you get…
  • Count me in for 175 too!
  • Happy birthday!!!
  • Believe me, I understand stress eating. You can do this though. If you give in and eat, it will not make your circumstances change and you will only feel more depressed. Take a walk, get some exercise and you will start to feel better. I was told at my support group that we are to make a list of 100 things we would like to…
  • I've never heard of eating exercise calories until here. Everyone says it puts your body into starvation mode if you don't. I'm not allowed. I'm on a strict 1200 calorie a day diet, per my doctor. I don' t have the luxury of eating anything extra...but I make it work. There are some days where I work of 1150 calories at…
  • So I certainly qualify in this category. I started two months ago at my highest weight (380). I'm a candidate for bariatric surgery and I need to get to 322 before they will do the surgery...and they might make me go smaller than that. So we'll see. I was smaller in high school, but I was a runner...and apparently you…
  • Thank you...everyone. Unfortunately, the scale is correct....I checked it against my mother in law's yesterday...and the weight before the weekend weight gain was accurate too. I'm on a 1200 calorie diet...per my doctor.... only 1200 calories and I don't get the luxury of eating exercise calories. I'm in the program to…
  • I've been at this two months...it's the longest I've ever stuck with a diet and the most weight I've ever lost. I have one good friend who is an incredible support and encouragement for me (she just lost 100 pounds)...but the initial encouragement, and support from the rest of those around me is kind of disappearing. My…
  • Welcome Shanell! You're off to a great start so far and you've come to the right place! MFP is great...whether you've got 10, 100 or even 200 like me to lose, we're all in the same boat. Everyone knows what you're going through. You can do this, and we're all here to help!
  • That was going to be my suggestion...or one of those snug fitting ribbed tanks.
  • I know! I had to do some stocking of a shipment of stuff at work because my assistant who usually does it was out on medical leave...imagine my surprise when I saw that I burned 1100 calories in an hour! I've decided to come in early to do part of his job a couple times a week now!
  • Welcome, Patsy! I hope you love it here as much as I do!
  • Welcome! Glad to meet you and take the journey with you!
  • Well nice to meet you both...and thanks for the welcome!
  • I've been on a couple of weeks and have mostly been hovering in the background. My name is Lauri, I'm a 37 year old wife and mother in Sunny (although very smoky now) California. I have been battling my weight all of my adult life. Until recently, I've always been in great health...for a big girl. But my blood pressure has…
  • ...and if you want, I can share some of my favorite lower calorie recipes for some great food.
  • Don't let yourself feel defeated. I know it's tough....believe me. But you're off to a great start. Your weight is going to fluctuate sometimes but the key is don't get discouraged and don't give up. I'm sure all of us have been on tons of diets because we diet instead of changing our lifestyle...that's what I've done now.…
  • I gained 12 pounds overnight last week! I think the amount of weight gain varies from woman to woman, but it was completely discouraging for me to be eating 1200 calories a day and that extra 12 pounds would not come off no matter what I did....then over the weekend, I dropped six pounds on Friday night, four pounds on…
  • Well I've got way more than 100 to lose. I'm off to a good start though! Good luck with your weight loss. I just discovered this website a week or so ago...and I love it!
  • Yeah, you are super talented...I have trouble even cropping my pics in photoshop!
  • My favorite... a cup of strawberries sliced and sprinkled with splenda, topped with 1/4 cup of dreyers light vanilla ice cream (as creamy as Ben & Jerry's). ..Best 100 calorie dessert I've ever eaten!
  • I think it varies...my thin friends can lose 5 pounds and fit into a size smaller clothing...the larger you are, the bigger the gap in clothing size. For instance, I can still wear the same pants (albeit stretchy), and tops that I wore 50pounds ago.
